Lamborghini

Never intended to be a works team, these representations of the "Raging Bull" were offered as customer cars, with limited factory support from Audi/Lamborghini in the early stages of development. The race version of the Murcielago has been converted from the Audi AWD system, to a RWD car, to meet FIA/ACO regulations. This left the car in an interesting configuration, as the gearbox was left in front of the mid mounted engine. The engine was decreased to just less than 6 litres, and an aero package was fitted to help keep the car planted. Since its introduction in 2003, however, the Murcielago R-GT has not fared well on the racetrack, with many DNFs in its results sheets. Reliability has been the most glaring problem, with blowups and breakdowns common. Despite it being a "mid-engined" configuration, at times, the Lambo feels like a rear engined car, with a weigh bias of 44/56. It does not like bumpy tracks very much, and the car can feel very stiff especially over curbs or chicanes. Its low wide stance and aerodynamic shape give it a better feel on long, smooth tracks, but tire wear is a concern in this car. Lack of proper factory support and the fact that it is still in its infancy of development mean the car doesn't quite hit the same top speed as others in the GT1 class. - Jerry Chen, Enis Dauti
