Spa-Francorchamps Open

Had to cut the chicane at busstop 3 times due to cars spinning in front of me, witch resulted in ... stop and go. No chance of top 5 after that. Bummer.

Grats Al and Sam.

Had decent speed but way too inconsistant in my laps times, although even if they were consistant i had nothing on Al.

Avoided two smashing cars in the beginning, just to touch the wall - lost some parts and the car got hard to handle. I decided to take an early pit for repair... making sure to avoid tire change - via XD.

Manged to drive kind of consistent my "first" stint to my "real" pit stop. Got in, and my mechanics started on my car, just to discover I hadn't told them, via XD, to change tires :-| Had to do one more stop - three in total! Of course I get behind ;-)

All in all, my driving was consistent - but slow. My pit handling (via XD) must be better, and of course I must avoid all kind of incidents.

A good podium finish, my first hard earned podium finish. Nothing much to say... The car went well, giving me hardly any problems, and i was lapping concistant times.
Gergo did an error which let me thru into 3rd after his pitstop. I managed to hold off his attacks, but he was comming fast up the field and at 10 mins to the end was at 4-5 secs, he had magaged to shave off 10 secs in 20 mins, so i was expecting a last lap battle. I was lucky Gergo did another little mistake which put the pressure off myself for the last few laps, guess he was pushing a bit too much with worn out tires, worth the effort anyway as he didn't lose a position and kept me on the edge of my seat all thru the 2nd stint.
Happy not to have done any errors and for lapping well under pressure.

Tough race, did not have the pace obviously. Tnx for the fifth place Michael, your accident looks really dramatic in the replay :D Grats to Al and Samuel for winning.

Had a pretty good Porsche setup from some earlier G3 event so that part was taken care off , but the weather can be a big question mark here in Spa and i didn't know how the car would go on wet conditions. Also a few more practice laps could have been helpful but luckily the weather remain dry and the track temp was quite ideal for the tires i'd chose for the race.

Qualifying was a bit so-so... little bit sloppy on both laps i did ,was already -0.8 secs down on my last lap but then messed up the last corner ,giving up 0.4 secs there and had to settle for 2nd position on G3 grid.

Start went fine , took a cautious approach to Eau Rouge-Raidillon combination and i was happy to see that other cars around me did the same thing and it was smooth sailing right from the start :).

Same thing when we approached Les Combes , some 'give and take' and (almost) everyone got through even thou the traffic in Kemmel straight was intense and it sure was exciting to be in the middle of it :D.

Nice clean start for the race and then some good racing with Andrey through the 1st stint , he seemed to be just marginally faster but the traffic kept us together the 1st 10 laps or so until Andrey unfortunately got into troubles on Eau Rouge and scraped the tire walls on both sides. This gave me a comfortable lead but Andrey got closer again until the 1st stint was done , that was impressive concerning the damage his car must have got from the accident. He pitted a bit earlier than me and after that there must have been some more troubles because i didn't see him again during the race :(.

My plan was to do a 1-stopper because in Spa the pitstop take so long and in such a short race it's almost impossible to take back all the time lost from 2-stop strategy. Managed to keep the tire wear in control and did the 1-stopper but it wasn't much fun to drive on the last laps on both stints with 3+ seconds slower lap times than in the beginning :|.

Anyways i'm happy to score a win here in Spa , always a special place to race and the race progressed without any big drama so a successful day all in all :).

Congratulations to the winners!

First of all congrats to both winners! This was my first race on Race2play and i expected only to finish the race, wich i didn't because in the last lap i crashed into a tire wall. My setup wasn't so good and i felt the car understeering at high speeds. I hope next time i can be more cometitive. Thank you all! See you next time!
