Grand Prix of Great Britain

Was trying to get around Allen Cotten for the part of the race I was in. I was patient, just running behind him to see where he brakes and where his turn-in points are. About one lap after David Fish lost his front splitter trying to pass Allen, I finally got confident enough to make my move. I came up the inside of the Abbey chicane (turn 11), got good speed going for the chicane exit, but got forced off the track as the passed car slid back up to the outside. I nudged the wall (almost out of control), bounced back on, got rammed from behind, and smashed into the bridge just before turn 13.

Lost both the front and rear splitters and fucked my suspension. Couldn't trail brake after that as my ass end had no grip. Figured it was a hazard, so I exited on-track.

I watched the replay a couple of times from my POV and Allen's... it was a hard place to be, and I'm starting to think it was a shitty place to pass. On the exit he really couldn't see me on the outside and probably throught I had fallen back. He took his normal exit line from the Abbey chicane and I just happened to be there. One of those instances where the lack of peripheral vision presents a false sense of security to both drivers. I didn't know he was next me, and he didn't know I was next to him. When I beeble-bobbled back onto the track, Dean was coming up on the opposite side of Allen so Allen really didn't have anywhere to go except straight up my car's butt.

Not mad, as its just a racing incident. But I am disappointed at the outcome. Wish I had been able to bring it back under control when I went off. :(

Dang I messed this one up :(
I nearly didnt make it on time and had to start from the back, never managed to get any laps in beforehand and couldnt find my setup notes either... I had so many damn setups i was working with that I was lost without my notes
To make it worse i couldnt even remember what the fuel economy was here :(

I really should not have joined at such a late time.....
My tyres were burning up after 5 laps and car was becoming a handful.
Apologies to Todd for the tap coming out the last corner, I pray it didnt damage your car.
I dropped it going into maggots I think and broke the car.

I usaully come very prepared for online races, this wont happen again...

damn damn damn lol.Guess i need to run full race distances in these f1 cars. I had my rpm"s at 19000 and I put my boost setting down to 4 and then 5 laps from the end the motor lets go,no warning it just locked up.

Congrats to David Fisher,I"m assuming he won :).These cars are almost too fast, when your behind people it"s really tough not to run into the back of them because eveythings happpening so quickly.

I made mistakes on my Q lap but it was enough to take pole at 21.1 on a 1 stop race.

I totally screwed up the start when I let myself be distracted by the driver names floating above a couple cars in the pits as the lights were counting down. Two cars had trouble ahead of me at T1, one drifted wide trying to avoid the other, and I was knocked off the track with front suspension damage. I came out of T1 in 12th position. :-(

I pushed the damaged Ferrari as hard as I could for the rest of the race, always expecting it to let go with no warning, but it was still quick enough to gradually work my way up through the field. Eventually made it into 2nd, but was way too far behind Scott by then to have any chance to catch him unless he had a breakdown/accident.....got my wish on lap 44. Don't know if he was running boost too high for too long, but whatever happened I'll take it. :-) Scott, great drive actually. Too bad about the car not making it to the end. Turned out to be a very, very tough race due to my silly mistake at the start, but I enjoyed it a lot.

Turn 1 of Lap 1. Yay.

The driver to my inside was in trouble on the entry, but I saw this and did a decent job of keeping him in my peripheral vision and limiting the contact there ... As he pushed us up the groove, however, the driver behind me ran hard up my backside. (Literally ... I see in the replay I could've reached back and autographed the underside of his car.)

A quick check of the indicators while I was in the runoff showed yellow but no red so I thought I was going to be OK. It was at the next bend I realized that in addition to the rear body damage the left rear tire was flat. Thankfully this track has large runoffs and I went spinning harmlessly through the grass. Took me forever to limp back to the pits for repair.

Altered my fuel strategy on the fly and ran heavy so I at least could make it on one more stop and not have to come back in a third time, but all I could do with it was just make laps to the end.

I hope I didn't help cause the mess in T1. I didn't even notice the Minardi coming up on my right until I watched the replay. It looked like I closed the door on him, but it was a little warpy, so it's hard to tell. Anyway I was busy watching the cars in front, and just trying to make a reasonably cautious start, so I can't take too much of the blame. :)

I really wanted to clinch the championship here, because I'm definitely going to miss the final race. Going out of town for a while. So I was very nervous before the start. But once the race got underway I felt much more confident and just drove a nice, conservative race. It went very smoothly, except for a couple of scary moments when lapped cars spun right in front of me at the esses. Would have been happy with 4th, but 2nd is even better! Congrats to David for the win!

Except for a few laps at the beginning, ran pretty much all by myself. Was I the only one on a 1 stop?

Craig made it interesting for about 5 or 6 laps at the beginning, then I guess his tyres faded. Just drove consistent laps like I always do. Car felt great, although mid way through 1st stint, noticed tyre wear was a little more than I had planned on. Had to dial the late braking down a bit.

Public service announcement ... why does someone always feel it necessary to "race" to the starting grid. sigh. Lucky it only pinged my gearbox yellow and didn't RIP OFF MY WING. To my amazement, you then proceeded to overtake me on the way to the starting grid as I slowed down to give Dean room to find his starting box. It was like you were in a rush to go take a piss in the garage or something. Calm down. It's a goddamn formation lap. Be glad we weren't in V8s, I was so pissed I almost decided to just t-bone the crap out of you.

Anyway, congrats Aubrey. And David as well, for storming through from the back to get the win. Great fun.

Wow! I dunno what happened at the start but I saw Barry disappear from the grid giving me a clean shot off my spot with no cars in front. Then David Fisher had his problems leaving the grid and I got an easy run into turn-1. Leading baby!

Scott fought me hard for a few laps but eventually learned (as many others have) that I do not pressure very easily. I ran my line and held him off until his own mistake freed me up. A few others made a grab at the lead but I kept it all the way till my first stop. From lap-1 I was in cruise mode, more concerned about brakes and other mechanical failures then I was about lap times. The last 2/3 of the race I spent driving at well below 100% just to save the car. I was confident that one or two ahead of me would have a failure so I didnt feel the need to race them.

As it turns out, I think I was the only one on a 2-stopper. It was a bad choice in the end as I was gang'g up on by all the 1-stoppers. If the field was full then the 2-stopper may have worked better, but the light number of cars allowed those heavy 1-stoppers to roll around without traffic holding them up.

Late in the race I was making up time on Aubrey and was looking at a good podium when I came up on Chen. He did nothing wrong, I just grabbed too much curb at one turn and looped it around. That ended my chase of Aubrey, but luckily Scott's engine expired to land me back on the podium.

By the way, I ran mediums all the way around and still had tires at the end. Car was perfect all race long, tire wear did not unbalance the car this time... I think I got the setup now :-)
