Intro to Historic F1 (Euro)

Damn. Sorry to both Gil and Cotton. Gil I spun on the formation lap when I had a burp of lag and warped into his rear end, and Cotton and I were having a great battle! But then he passed me with his speed on the straight while I'll traded in the curves with my brakes (had to yank the car out of the way in one turn under brakes!). I can't remember which curve that was but I outbraked him right into the ass end of his car; he surprised me and I was already too deep into the braking zone.

Sorry for ending both our races, man. :(

These are great! Hate the track graphics but man this was fun. Quite lonely with max wings but fun.

Well here's what all happened to me. I start off nice( a little engine heat at start), but soon I got a doblshift by my wheel and I lost at least 20 secs. Other than that more clean than I expected. Im looking forward to more races with this mod for sure :)

Well, the more I drive that Ferrari, the more I enjoy it...

I wasn't expecting for a race tonight, so I didn't practise at all. Then I saw the schedule this evening... Hmm, Glen with those cars and no practise: it should be fun.

I completed my first lap there right before qualifying, so I wasn't expecting a great race from me.

I qualified in the midfield, so I was kind of worried for the race (been there, done that...). But I wasn't expecting for it to end in the formation lap...

I lost around 1 minute because of Ray (no harm done... for now!!! :p ), as I had to crawl back to the pits and change the front wing. After that, I thought, what a hell, "let's see how many laps I loose to the front runners..."

I run a very consistent and fast race (alone :( ) and I was lapping close to the top guys. I made a couple of mistakes, one of which sent me into the wall (but nothing broke! LOLOL ). I lost there 10 seconds... maybe I could have made it into the top 5, but after that start, my expectations were very small.

Congrats to Janko for another race win (Ray, next time, try to qualify in the first row :p ).

PS: Who tought that 20 laps were 5 or 6 laps too few?? We ran 27 at Zeltweg a week ago ;-)

2 starts and 2 DNF's.

7 sec's off pace and driving with everything I had!!! : (

Plenty of other series to keep me happy. : )

quitting is not an option. :) It's all in the setup and light touch. I don't know what car you were running but I'll upload my Ferrari setup. Put that on what ever you ran and test.

Dont know how i got that time in qualy, but it sure did help me in the race.

I led all the laps, but i was very lucky that Ilkka did not attack sooner, then i would just move away, didnt want to get a DNF here. Sure we did drive away... but damn... i was so nerveus, i saw him in my mirrors all 20 laps!

Was kind of suprised to get a spot on the front row in qualifying in a Mclaren with all the Ferraris and Williams in the race. :o

Took the first few laps carefully and drove with a consistant easy pace because I thought Janko would have been able to keep the distance. But at around lap 12 I thought this is too easy for Janko, so I started pushing hard. And in the end it was only 0.3s between us :D Thinking about it now I should have started pushing earlier :P

I love these cars. Haven't really got a handle on setups yet, I'm still running max wings to keep the thing pointed the right way!
Qually started bad - brushed the wall and bent the steering, so I had to limp back to the pits & start over. Quite surprised to grab 3rd.
3rd became 4th when I fluffed the standing start (yet again!) & lost out to Joco, then 5th when Jarred nipped by - the Renault's a bit pushy at the best of times, but for the first couple of laps on fresh rear rubber it's a right dog. Much better, though, after some wear!
Then a few laps in I got an attack of the screen freezies. This has only started happening this week, no idea why, but it does it pretty much every session after a few laps, online or offline. Anyone got any ideas? Had a quick spin as a result & dropped a few spots, but no damage done.
Caught back up to Jarred when he had an off, then team-mate Johan (the younger handsome one) waved me (the older, but MUCH faster one!) by. Got back past Joco too when he had a spin to finish up where I started, in 3rd.
Joco - re the double-downshifts. I had the same problem in my first race last week. Edit your .PLR file, find the line Repeat Shifts="0" and fiddle with the settings. Think I went too far with mine, though, cos now multiple downshifts take forever. Just as well the Renault has lousy brakes!!!

Yikes, what an un-glorious debut i had in these beasts. Qualied back of the grid as i expected, which i had no problem with as i just wanted to get some race experience under my belt with these cars.
I couldnt believe it on the first flying lap when the back just broke away when i wasnt even pushing that hard, i brushed the barrier very slightly and yet the rear wing tore off and rear suspension collapsed !
I crawled around to the pits but they just looked at me shaking their heads !...race over :-(

Is there a chat forum on this class, so i can get a better idea on what cars are best to use for F1 '79 newbies, setups etc ?
Really love these cars, just need more time with them to get upto speed. Been a sim tin top racer since the good old days of Geoff crammond so a little rusty in single seaters.
