Intro to GT3 Cup (Euro)

Disco in qualifying dropped me from around 8th to last in grid. Lost my interest and pulled out.

Because of these numerous discos I'm getting now with GTR2 too I'm starting rapidly to loose my interest with the game. Hope you had a nice race.

I saw some post-race chat regarding this so I figured a reminder was in order...

General Passing
The responsibility for the decision to pass another car, and to do it safely, rests with the overtaking driver. The overtaken driver should be aware that he/she is being passed and must not impede that pass by blocking.

Being Lapped
Slower cars are not to move over for faster cars approaching. If you wish to assist; Hold your normal racing line (entry, apex, and exit of all corners) until a long straight. On that long straight allow the faster car to move off-line to initiate the pass at which time you can lift off the throttle to assist an easy and clean pass. Do not lift off the throttle until the faster car has initiated the pass by moving off-line.

Sadly, Mundie (pic to the right) was doing exactly as he should and was taken out by a leader in very poor form. I'd like to see a little more paitence from those lead cars when working through traffic. You have to remember, some of the guys on the track with you, it's their first time ever and are completely over-whelmed. Give them a little breathing room next time.

Otherwise, that was a nice race to watch

I'm sure I'd finish on the 4th place at least if only I didnt get blocked and than knocked out the track by some guy driving real slow in 1st corner... Good race all, thanks for that, but hey accidents happen and thats how it will always be... this game is supposed to be a simulation anyway :D

Not so much fun for me today fellas....

First off, qualifying went not too bad. I got 11th, which is OK considering I hate this car so much. I can't seem to handle it too well. I love the RSR, I am fast in that, but the cup car can go scratch for all I care.

Was way loose in the rear end. Discovered I had too much ARB in it. The nose was incredibly tight, I like that, but the car gets REAL tail-happy if you brake in the corners at all. I had problems braking if I moved the wheel even a little bit before entering corners. I'm sure my set up sucked.

Last place for me fellas. It's Ok...at least I finished.

Had pole possition and i was just able to stay in lead till the 2nd corner. Then i pulled away, but realy wasnt able to get any andvantage on Matjaz.
Had some problems with the blue-flag guys but all ended ok for me, but not for Matjaz :(. He went to sand while trying to overtake one of them and i got easy race from there on.

I'm not going to be as nice as Don.Ok,i'm an easy going guy,so i'm not very aggressive on track,having said that,i've been in leagues for years with back to back chanpionships in a GPL league.I know these are intro and 'funruns" and in the 1st 2 races i managed to keep out of trouble in the 1st few turns but i can't believe the amount of risk taking in the 1st few turns.If you want to be further up the grid at the start,qualify better.In past leagues,i have been quite willing to give up a couple of places in the 1st lap knowing i will get them back.This race,someone barreled past me in t1,tried to pass the next guy thru the 1st esses then tagged him in the slow lefthander.This involved me,spinning me around facing the wrong way,back to last.I'm not being a whinger,but we can get this in pickup races.

Well all I can say it was a fine race despite one trip to the sand after taping Don when trying to lap him... my mistake for sure so I apologize to Don. I guess I was a bit to anxious to pass and not to lose contact with the leader. I think Don could have let me through before the last chicane but he decided not to lift off the throttle despite me being off-line behind him trying to go through. Same think happened to Janko a few corners before that... he was off-line braking late to commit a pass but Don kept his line and closed the door. Well this things happen so I'll learn from it and try to do a clean pass next time not expecting any help from him.

After my trip to the sand I lost a position to Grecian and the rest of the race I tried to close on him but must have had some damage or just very bad tyres as I was losing grip and was not able to continue with the same speed as before.

Still a very enjoyable race and a decent result for me.

2nd need to think about suspending or something to inforce some rules. 1st lap was a joke.

Marko driving more aggressivly than stock car racers.

probably ruined more than a hand few of peoples races incuding mine.

YOU HAD 22 LAPS TO OVER TAKE IN SAFER SITUATIONS!

as andy says u took out over half the cars on the track on the 1st lap

should be suspended for atleast that many GTR2 events its just crap and needs to be erased from r2p imo.

First off GREAT race! Really enjoyed it... BUT, (and as you can see it's a big but)!

Some of the faster guys need to stop bullying there way to the front. One VERY fast guy who no doubt got held up during qualifiying took out/damaged no less then 10 cars before the end of lap 1!
I was under the impression that we all raced here to get away from the public wreckers...

For me the race was fine though I did get overtaken illegally... twice.

I think it's time R2P started to take a harder line with drivers that push obviously stupid overtaking manouvers which usually happen on the least suitable part of the track. The same for those that cut corners on a regular basis or just now and again to gain an advantage.

What would the harder line be? I don't know but but a few DQ's or race bans wouldn't go a miss.

Like I said I enjoyed my race, my other comments are based on what I have seen whilst viewing the replay...

hmmmm...after reading the comments ill add my 2 pence...not 5p as I'm very cheap :D:D:D

...anyway...this is how i see it. Lapped cars dont wanna be touched..thats perfectly ok, fronts runners dont want to loose time...yeah we know :D

Take it from me...a guy who's done like 500 odd races (usually up front :D:D :p)....if ur being lapped it costs you absolutely nothing to ease the process, but what i experienced today was blatant disregard for any driver.

Watch the replay...i lost 11 seconds and was genuinely scared to come up to a lapped car. I backed off, flash lights, moved offline as the faster car should do...but got hit, spun..pushed off track...hmm what else lol....blocked on apex...hit on the side by driver swaying across track at one corner...then doing it again next corner. ..and not just by one driver :(

So I'm not sure whats going on but it made the top 4 drivers race spoilt and it just ended up being a hot lap race.

I totally respect drivers of different speed but we all should respect each other, no matter what position you are in. I say this coz the top runners are racing on the limit yet still leave room no matter what. eg. While I'm folowing Joco..hes driving a bit erratic and he has a slight lag for me..yet Tolga and the driver behind him could make a risky move and pass me as I'm unsettled by Joco but yet they dont do it even thou they know they wont get another chance to pass me again in the race. To me thats just professional behaviour and i applaud that!!! So I'm saying the same reasoning can be applied to lapped drivers thinking process.

I must add thou, to those who are new or "overwhelmed" please take words like these as learning steps to be come a better driver.

I too was new once and i kinda made the same mistakes at 1st but more importantly i apologised and made sure not to do them again :)

Other that that the overall atmosphere and camaraderie is great here.

Ww should all learn from this, as this race (as Janko realised b4 the start) was gonan be a classic :p :) :D
