Estoril 330k (G2/G3)

You know it's real diappointing when half the guys don't show up and we have to go to half the distance 2X 2X to begin with after all the testing. I ended up Qing 1st and coming up to the half way point and the F@$#!ng computer decides to shut down on me........F#@k

I'm very sorry that you got disco. Especially as you were flying around track. Brutal.

Agree with Barry, stuck in a GT3, (G3), when I really wanted to race the bi-turbo, (G2).

Fooked up my race by turning up thinking I already had a set-up when in fact I didn't. Doh!

Yeah that really sucks Barry and I totally agree...this half attendance thing is getting REALLY old.

My race was pretty successful and it almost became a disaster at the end. Qualified on the pole with a conservative lap of 1.42.8, I probably could have taken off a few tenths if I ran another lap with a low wing and smaller radiator opening but I chose not to.

Race started off quickly for me and sped away from the rest of the G3 field as fast as I could. For most of the first stint, I was alone but by the end, I caught up to some of the G2 cars and diced it up with Omar a bit. FYI Omar, you were dragging your brakes down the straights...might wanna get that fixed :). Anyway, I soon gave up that fight because my car started getting REALLY loose and I still don't know why it did. My guess is the tire pressures in the rears were too high or the ones in the fronts were too low, but I'm still not sure about it.

Pit stops came and went and found myself in the middle of the G3 field. I ran a few 43s and got by some of others with the pit cycle. I then started closing in on Tim who was leading and found out he was going for a no-stopper...and it showed :). At one point I gained almost 10 secs on him in 1 lap lol. I soon passed him and found myself alone and getting really loose again. But this time, I was REALLY sliding around, to the point where I was just drifting through corners because the rears had no grip. By the end of the race, I noticed that I was close on fuel, so I started back off...even to the point of stopping on the backstretch to let some G2 cars go by....that helped :). I still made it home with 5 liters left in the tank so it turned out to be no big deal.

Good race guys, wished more would have showed up because it looked promising yesterday, but oh well. Later all.

Nearly had a disaster at the start by taking Tim out but just managed to get the car to turn in at the last moment, felt a bit red-faced about that. Then I followed Tim and Bob as they had a little battle and when Bob made a move on Tim I managed to follow him through. Then we started to spread out a little, until I went wide at the hairpin at the end of the back straight and Tim was back in front of me. I stopped after 17 laps and filled up again and then I just drove around on my own until near the end when Tim, having stopped late and dropped behind, started to reel me in again. I had a small incident passing Doug (not sure what was happening there?!) and my advantage was down to 5 seconds. I was on worn tyres and watching the clock too much, I was praying for the flag to come very soon and luckily it did, not a moment too soon, phew!

I well and truly screwed the pooch in qualifying. Slid off into a sand trap on the installation lap and hit ESC without thinking. End of session and to the back of the grid for me.

I didn't want to pass you on the formation lap, Doug, but I didn't want to start with the G3s either.

Anyway, I got the best possible result considering where I started and had some fun chasing down Dean after the pit stop.

Congrats to Pete and Conor for the wins and the same to everyone else. Fun racing.

Too many spins in the chicane to keep the pace. Fuckin' everyone drove by me. Guess I wasn't looking for too much since this was a last minute thing, but I dug my own grave. Hung Darren out to dry when he went wide into T1, making sure my car was where he wanted to be, and made my 1st pass of the race. Later, chasing Tim, I was feeling like I had him beat, and got by him, only to learn later in the race he was just cruising and trying for a no-stopper. After that, I just plain made mistakes. That 911 feels like you can bury that throttle pedal thru the floor, but boy does that shit come back and hammer ya! Not enough practice laps to compete here today. Thanks anyway all.

Tnx Conor! :)...I hadn't noticed that and I raced 3 times today and was bad in all...I need to replace this pedals and wheel...

Disco gremlins strike again, right at the start of qually. Re-booted everything and got back in with 3 minutes to spare, so I was happy to park it 3rd on the grid. Team-mate Johan allowed me to slip past at T1 a few laps in so I could put some pressure on Barry up front. We were pretty evenly matched, though, so I figured on holding back 'til after the stop.
I pitted right on half way, having used a shade over 70 litres. After adding way too much in the earlier GTL race, I figured topping up to 80 should do fine. So I got something of a shock with about 6 laps to go, when my fuel gauge showed enough for just 4...! Holy shit! Since Barry's unfortunate disco early in the 2nd stint, I really hadn't been pushing it that hard either. With some serious short-shifting I managed to gain one laps worth, and a sloooow last 2 laps allowed me to cross the line just 2 seconds after the clock zero'd to get the other back.
Really bummed about that disco, Barry, I was really looking forward to continuing that battle. As things turned out, though, I would not have had enough fuel to make any sort of challenge. I crossed the line with just over 1 litre left!!!
