GT Sprint: Hidden Valley

This one have been a bit crowded...
Qualy went well, I could get under 1:05 with a 1:04:922. Anyway Jeffrey did 2/100 less so he could get the pole... congrats! :D

The race started with Jeffrey flying away and with me trying to keep his tail... uselessly... What did you have, super soft tyres? :o
Kieron was right behind me, I wasn't running cleanly and I knew I had a bit more to give... It was getting interesting!
On lap 4 Omar Gonzalez on a GT1 passed both Kieron and me on the straight, getting on the fist turn steadily in front of me. Anyway he must have done the turn wrong because he got in slowly. I was on the outside, so I got out of the black line (the one ideally made of skid marks) but he skidded, he got even wider, so I could't do anything but touch him.
Kieron did the turn normally so he could pass me, but I still was right behind him!
On lap 7 Omar caught me again, and passed me on the fist straight being again steadily in front of me on turn 1. Again, he did the turn badly, I took it large but touched him again (actually this time I was on his side and he got large touching me). Being him on a GT1, I can't imagine why he was that slow on that turn, no other GT1 had problems on doing that turn faster than me...
It's been a very slight touch, so I still was behind Kieron.
Nothing changed until lap 12. Right in the middle of it (after the left U turn) my rFactor decided to let me have a look to my desktop (it minimized), I tried to guess the line (not accelerating anyway) while clicking on the rFactor tab to bring it up. When it was up again, I was entering the track while Rogier de Klein was coming up. He could't avoid me, but luckily none of us went out. Sorry Rogier, I didn't mean to cut your line!
On lap 14 Omar caught me again, but he couldn't pass me on the straight. He was just on my side so I did the fist turn normally and no one got hurt, being faster than him on braking. He kept staying close to me without being able to pass, until on the last turn (actually right before it, when I started breaking) he punted me badly sending me out. You could have waited for that turn to pass me easily on the straight, hopefully being far enough on the first turn to have me too far to pass you again. Moreover, you was just running against lower class cars while I was fighting for podium. Next time please be sure you are fast enough to safely pass lower class cars before pretending to be in front of them.

Now I was far from Rogier and also from S. Senturk, so I tried to stay calm and go as fast as I could. I thought that I could eventually reach Rogier if I could get constant enough.
In the next few laps I let pass some lapping GT1 cars. I left them a bit of space keeping large on the turns (as I did with Omar) and they had no problems passing me.
I lapped some car too, without problems, until lap 22. I was reaching E. Douglas, going to lap him. We probably didn't understand each other: I got on the right to pass him and he suddenly steered right, so I punted him badly. He spun and I had my front left sector red, with the steering wheel turning on the left side... Sorry man, I it's been just a misjudgement.
I lost some time with the crash and now I had to go slower, so one lap later Senturk was near my back. It took some time but I got used to the damaged wheel, so I could keep a decent pass and keep Senturk some tenths behind.
On lap 32 Omar reached us again. he passed me on the main straight (again), but he was slower on the turn (again) so I passed him outside. He was not lapping us: probably he crashed some time before. Some turn later I did a mistake and I got large on a turn and both Omar and Senturk passed me.
I held Senturk's tail for a couple of laps, then a GT1 lapped us forcing him to go large on turn one. I could keep the inside line so I passed him. On the next U turn he got in too fast and punted me, making me spin (but then getting me straight with a second hit :D). He got punted by an upcoming GT1 and spun badly.
In the last laps nothing relevant happened, so I ended 4th in my class...

It could have gone a lot better, especially for the missed fights with Kieron and Rogier (both prevented by some kind of crash.

I hope next race will be less crowded, and to have finally a good fight!

You will not get a D/T signaled by the game or the race officials...If you punt, you do a D/T... Plain and simple...

Pretty fun race for not knowing this track at all and having no laps previous to joining before qual.

I was surely not the fastest Gt2 out but I had some fun running with a few guys and kept swapping spots with someone in Spyker cause we both spun a lot. :)

Traffic here was tricky! I know I slowed up a bit too much a couple times for a couple guys, sorry about that. But for the most part it was smooth passes.
I did notice a few aggressive lappers in GT2, nothing big but almost took me out..

For how my race went with all it's crazy spins 9th in GT2 is a miracle!! :)

Actually on previous races other players had D/T signaled by a race steward or by the game itself. Anyway I suppose that my behaviour can be evaluated by r2p, if needed.

Finally a decent race for me, kind of LOL

Somehow I pulled out a smokin lap for qual on my first hot lap. I ran three more laps one of which would have been good enough for pole but alas my first pole in this series. It is a little tainted though with Barney and Tristan not attending.

Race started and straight away I knew I was in trouble as Robson's straight speed was clearly faster than mine. He made a attempt at T1 lap 1 but I was able to hold my position. This went on for a few laps but eventually I pulled out a little breather as Caner began to keep Robson occupied.

Lap 7 I was already lapping GT2's and on this tight little track that proved to be a challenge. I lost some time with a few of the GT2's and next thing I knew on lap 10 Caner made a inside move on me in T1 with a little hip check but I was able to keep the car under control.

On lap 15 after some more struggling with GT2's Robson caught and passed me into T1 then he spunout right in front of me in the hairpin. With his car 90 degrees across the track I had some minor contact and continued on while he got straightened out. This gave me enough breathing room to concentrate on Caner who was still only 1 second ahead.

Lap 27 disaster struck, as I was entering the double right handers at the back of the ciruit I saw a lot of smoke ahead and saw Bakus spinning off in his GT2. While I watched to see where he would end up the rear of my car also began to slide out and next thing I know I am slamming into the now stopped car of Peter. Sorry Peter. I took major damage losing the front splitter and some suspension damage.

I decided to continue on without stopping for repairs. The last race at Brazil I decided to stop and that cost me at least 3 positions. Fortunately Joao and Dave were in a battle of there own and of course the GT2 traffic which slowed all the GT1's helped me preserve the final podium position.

Grats to Caner and Robson as well as Jeffrey again in the GT2.

The “aliens” where in another league as always.

I miss calculated the fuel again filling the tank too much this time and as a consequence my race pace was slow. I also made the mistake of using boost 2 and not boost 3.

As for the lapped cars it was the same old story. Instead of holding there line and letting the faster car find a way around them, they fake you out and end up destroying your lap, if your lucky not to hit them!

Some of the GT1’s where all over the place in this one…
I was side swiped and almost lost it by a GT1 that could have waited about one more second and easily passed me….

But like I said it was a very fun race and track!

Well happy to come away with 2nd in that one. Pretty much all my practice time was spent at Daytona for the 2.4 and Malaysia for the Grand Am race. I did get some practice in at HV but no where near as much as normal.

So I went into the race not really expecting much, 4th or 5th I guess. Managed to get 3rd in Qual with a last gasp effort which saw me just pip Rog for that 3rd spot. Once again sorry to Luis though for turning him around in the final corner. You where lagging slightly at my end and I thought I'd left enough room but the lag caught me out, sorry mate.

Come the race and Jeff was off, bar far and away the fastest GT2 out there today. I was pleased to see that I was keeping up with Marco but I did feel he had more pace in him. Got a lucky break as Marco was forced wide in T1 which gave me the opening I needed to sneak through to take 2nd. Pushed hard then to try and keep the little gap I had to him before the traffic got really bad. He slipped back after his PC problems though which put Rog behind me in 3rd.

Rog was quicker and he was catching but with the help of traffic I was able to keep far enough ahead. He did drop back near the end though so I was able to relax a little and bring it home in 2nd.

Grats to Caner and Jeff and both podiums. Proper intense little track that, and I never worked out how to take that final corner right.
