nGTX Imola

Well that was painful.

I did a personal best by a fair margin in qual, which only earned me 12th on the grid, so I knew it wasn't going to be a good night. Got in a little tussle on lap 2 maybe(?) with a black Ferrari. Haven't looked at the replay, hope I wasn't at fault- apologies if I was. I fear I may have turned into you in the right-hander, thought I was clear. Cost me a couple of spots, but I settled down and was catching back up. Was patiently following Tom Rue for a couple of laps- he got loose coming out of Tosa and I jumped on it a little too hard- round I went and punctured the front left on the inside wall. Limped around and got quick repairs, but was a lap down on the whole field by then. Unlapped myself from a couple of cars, and started to worry about fuel- hoped I could go the distance, but I'd been forced to pit mighty early. I started short-shifting with 30 mins to go. Got quite a few spots back after the pit cycle, and was as high as 13th at one point when it became clear I wasn't going to make it on fuel. Did a splash and go which took forever, and it was all I could do to get back on Chip's bumper in the purple monstrosity by the finish. One more lap and I could have made 14th... how depressing :P Oh well, plenty of time to practice for Magny...

Wooohooo that second feels like a win!

Had a nice qual for a 50 flat but had a better one going when time expired :( but I still got pole by a fair margin. Sure would be nice to figure out a way to get a clear lap, I waited almost 2 minutes to go out and still caught a guy on lap 2 :(

Started with some wheelspin and could see Rick Knapp was right on my pace. I couldn't see Krueger anywhere and was preparing for a scary T1, but then Krueger backed off and dropped in behind me. I had a nice lap 1 and over a second gap back to Krueger and as I settled in we had a nice battle against the gap. I was able to maintain it at about 2 seconds for about 10 laps until my tires started complaining. Krueger pitted lap 20 and I managed to get in a couple more decent laps and as I was coming through the last corner before pit in I realized I hadn't notified the crew I was coming. I pushed the pit request and they said "stay out" UT OH. I quickly told them I didn't have enough fuel to do another lap and they relucantly had me come in...of course they weren't ready for me either.

I rejoined with Krueger on my ass and we went a few laps before I screwed up in Aqua and went to the white stuff to save it. I figured since I was off track that I should let Krueger by. The rest of the race was basically me trying to keep pace with Krueger and in the end we were nose to tail again.

Grats to the podium. I had a strong 3rd place going when I got a penalty for using the grass to pass a lapped car and also giving him a pretty solid clout. I apologise Garry, I thought you were moving over to let me by when you turned in suddenly and I tried to avoid you by using the grass. I should have waited to pass you.

I mistakenly turned my ignition back on during my fuel stop and that added at least 10 seconds to my otherwise good stop. I was trying to chase down Rick during the last 15 minutes but the gap remained pretty static and I wound up 4th. I will take that...

Mine was a pretty lonely race for the most part. Started 19th, made it up to 14 for a lap or less, pitted and returned to 19th. Crawled back to 14, one more lap and it would've been 15 as Michael would've passed my purple monstrosity in a hurry. Hey, someone had to keep the race from being another Porsche/Ferrari spec race. Maybe the name of the series should be changed... 6 cars to choose and only 2 get picked. I think there should be a limit on the number of entries a single car can have, to get this series back to Extreme nGT, and away from Extreme Porsche/Ferrari.

At the start time for practice,i thought i might have a crack at this.Went to sign up but i was on the waiting list.Kept checking up until qual,still on the waiting list with 19 drivers on the server,ah well.

what a ball buster. i qualed horribly (18), but things started off decent. i quickly jumped to 1before the first lap was over and steadily moved forward. I had a lot of fun fighting with the other porsches. after pits, i had moved up to 14, and by the last lap, i was up to 12.

then i ran out of gas, on the last lap, 1/2 lap from the line.

oh man. after all that, to run out of gas.

but i still had a blast. fun racing, only got clipped once but someone behind who was getting impatient :). I look forward to the next one.

Sorry Chip but I have to disagree. This series was named "Extreme" because it is the ONLY series that allows everyone to use a GTC or RSR. And since those are the 2 best models that is what you will see the majority running in. I think last nights race was a decent reflection of what a real nGT race would have looked like in 2004...and fairly equal mix of Ferrari's and Porsches with 1 TVR. At least there was a nice mix of colors chosen.

9 Porsches and 2 Ferrari's in the nGT class is what I count. Plus the weaker Ferrari is used. There were some TVR's at Donington that year though.

Well.. not much to say about this race.. Took my Estoril setup and tweaked the gears some , but i forgot to transfer the changes from my Q car to my actual racecar and had some troubles 1st with the gears when the race started.

After few laps i got used to the long gearing and my times were at par with Kent , but he had 2-3 secs lead and couldn't reel that in.

After pitstops i was right in Kents tail and he was kind enough to let me by after he had some troubles. TBH i would have never got ahead of Kent without some conciderable help from him . Dropped the pace after it was getting a bit slippery and Kent was riding in wingman position just observing my slipping and sliding , never challenging me for real.

Rest of the race we travelled in a nice formation and took a nice 1-2 for the team , big 'thank you' to my team mate for supporting my efforts to catch Rick in the points.

Chances are looking a bit slim after 1 disco and 1 missed race , but with the friends like Kent , it still can be possible :).

Congrats to Kent and Rick for the podiums , i ended up in the middle , but Kent would have been the right man to take the highest honor this time :).
