CTS: Daytona

Unbelievable guys. My first actual point race here and it was full of ups and downs. I dont know how but I followed M. Gribble through a near disastrous wreck early on. Proceeded to run with Michael for a time. We were picking up more drivers along the way. Sorry for making a move to pass mike, but i wanted to get some clean air. For a time there we had 5 of us in one long train. Was surprised to see C. Barnes back there with us as he is usually at the top, but he ran clean which was nice.

Was sitting happily in 12th when i decided to pit. I'm a dumbass and dropped down into first gear right before pit entry and that snapped the ass around. Was so flustered at my mistake that i forgot to put enough fuel in my car. Came back around and went in again, grabbed 4 laps worth, and crossed the line in 16th, with .1 gallons left.

I dont think i'll be able to sleep now. Great showing of driving standards, funny how when it means something, everyone drives wonderfully.

Started 15 with, slambang right in the middle of the pack. I was a bit wary during the first lap as it's only my 2nd ever oval race (Bristol being my first), but I didn't have time to enjoy the pack. Lap 2 my car got unsettled on the bump in turn 2 and I lost momentum there. Got a small tap and spun, luckily towards the infield and everybody missed me.
Was dead last at that point and tried to find somebody to draft with.
After a while I found Les and we started to form a train to gain some positions. Guess nothing special, but I loved it :D.
Later on the smoking locomotive of Anthony joined the train and we had some nice driving there.

I too shifted down too quicky and did a 360 while entering the pits, nice way to scrub off some speed.

Eventhough 13th isn't really a good place to finish, I still enjoyed the fight back from last and being in the 25 motorsport sandwich.

Ring rusty! That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!! Seriously, Qualifying was bad - P20 out of 29. And on the start, I had to back off as the car/group in front didn't seem to get away as quick - that led to cars behind going by me like I wasn't there. And on lap 2 I was down in P25.

Then the semi big one happened around lap 4 mid pack - several cars in front of me. I slowed down and somehow managed to weave my way through the cars going everywhere, but in doing that I lost contact with the car in front, and simply didn't have a tow. Didn't look good.

Then I found Les Lamont and Jeffrey Ruskus coming by me, and I managed to tag along for the pull. We seemed to do that for quite some time. Then we came across a group of three cars (Anthony James; Bennie Holloway and Paul Burgess). As our group started to pass them, I was close behind Jeffrey - he touched the outside wall on one exit and I followed him, slowing me slightly and just moving me down off the wall as I skimmed it. That was enough for Burgess to give me the slightest of taps on the left rear quarter due to the speed difference, and I started heading to the inside concrete apron. I managed to straighten her up but ran onto the grass, so decided to pit for fuel and fresh tyres.

Trouble is the tap had added extra damage and so I sat for 22 seconds of repairs!!! To add insult to injury, I'd forgotten (in my three month absence) to add EXTRA fuel to the existing load (I simply put how much extra I needed - which was a lower figure than what was actually in the car) and so I didn't get a top up of fuel either - LOL.

I pitted next lap for the extra fuel, but by then I was already 2 or 3 laps down. I tagged along with Chris Barnes (a lap ahead?) for the rest of the race, but P19 was as good as it was going to get, but at least it was a finish.

Well my first roundy round race!

Great experience, love the racing. I was the car flying in the air after the big wreck at turn 4. Sorry if i took anyone out, i could not control the car while flying in the air.

I have to say Thanks to my team mates for putting together a great working setup for us. You guys work very hard on these setups and it's greatly appreciated.

I don't get a chance to practice much in traffic before this race. Qual was not as good as the setup was which put me un lucky 13th on the grid. The best I could hope for was at least I was on the inside lane.

Race- With a great setup I took the green and I have to say I was amped up and nervous which led to spending the first 20 laps playing Swirvin Irvin. I could keep the truck smooth and strait to save my ass. I felt horrible and hope it didn't affect too many people. Sorry if it did. I did my best. Finally I settled down and made my way up to 3rd with the help of team mate Dennis and others and stuck it there until we came up on traffic. Smoking traffic at that (I'm sure there is a rule on that)when I tried following Danny and Chris high I ended up going too high losing several spots in the process. Guys, if your car is smoking you are suppose to get it off the track during the race. An option you do have in stockcar racing to remove some tape and cool it down. Please do so in the future!

Then came pit time. First I see Danny and Chris go in so I stayed out for 1 more lap. Everything was honky dorey and I didn't need to repair anything, well....unfortunetly going into the pit, I got tagged which in turn banged me off the wall and now have to spend extra time in the pits for repairs. That racer did apoligize after the race but that didn't help the instant feeling of fffffffdamn! Well that's the way it just goes sometimes. Mistakes are made and you can't change it so move on. Came back out in 12th or 13th. Then toward the end of the race I made up a few spots and staerted seeing racers pulling down to the flat apparently running out of fuel bringing me a 7th place finish. Not too bad of a result considering. My team announced to me that I do have a new track record recorded during the race with a 47.683...WOOT!

Grats Moseley on the win and my teamies for some great results. Especially Deniis. I'm going to start calling you the Ghost Racer. He just leerks around in the background quiet as a mouse but finishes like a champ. WTG Big D.

Dont think that was me that tapped you andy, i was running in a pack of positions 11 to 15 with gribble, mueller, barnes, and someone else joined in later :)

Sorry Nathan - viewed the replay for that part and it was Paul Burgess re the tap. But it was one of those racing incidents anyway, nothing malicious at all. Corrected my report. Seems like the old memory is failing me - LOL!Cheers.

Really sorry Andy. Was an abysmal race for me all round. Will practise a lot more for the next one.

I had a horrible qualifying attempt as I bounced it off the wall. So I just parked it and started shot gun. Made good time at the start and made it through the semi “Big One” but I had to slow and “duck, dodge and hide” my through and lost touch with the rest of the field.

After a number of lonely laps in the 50’s I got hooked up with Andy and we later got caught up with Jeffrey and Les. At that point 3 or 4 of us in a draft, my truck started smoking intermittently. I would try and get some clean air without loosing the draft, and it would stop. Then it would start again.

I apologize if this impeded or aggravated any drivers, it was not intentional and the race was more then three quarters over. It didn’t do that in any previous days practice, but then again I was only able to draft with two or three at a time. I was up to 9th when I realized “I’m going to run out of fuel!” I’m two laps short. I pitted for 3 gal of fuel only and ended my day in 14th. Fun event all, see you in California.

I did the same thing with the gas. I checked it twice, and thought I had enough. I had a great pit. Came out in first place ready to win the race and ran out on the back stretch on last lap. I did manage to pull Tom to the lead to give
DBF the win. So, congrats man.
