Gee, was I dreaming or was there really a race today?

Well, I'm proud of my 7th place finish even though the rest of you guys don't care! : )

My race started out great with a super start, passed a few cars off the line and through T2 and eventually found myself in 6th for several laps during the 1st stint.

Got punted into the wall (ouch!) going through the little curvey thingy before the start/finish straight and lost my front end and steering. It was a real bear to drive after that and hope I wasn't defending my position too aggressively (sorry Barry K.).

Barry and his pursuer were able to finally get by when I followed Tom Studans up the escape road at T4. clobbered the walls several more times due to the terrible handling and was lucky to make it to my 1st pitstop.

With the handling back after the pitstop, it was just a matter of keeping it off the walls and bringing it home in one peace.

Had a few fun laps with others during the race, but was mostly all alone again for most of the event.

I did totally screw up my pit stratagy. For some reason I only had like 8 laps of fuel for each stop!?!?
I think in my old age, I mistook the fuel amount for the # of laps... DUH!!!
The cars were already on the grid so I quickly added fuel to my pit schedule. Well, that wasn't right ether, by my last pitstop, I had 104 liters of fuel in the tank... Pathetic huh???

Well, I had fun anyway and can hardly wait for the next one.

I decided to change my qual strategy and went as hard as i could to snatch 6th.My pit strategy was back to back stops.Well,at the 1st stop,i think i was well up the front,but a missed keystroke meant i got a stop and go for speeding.I did my s\go the next lap,then followed up with my final pitstop.I did expect to see a bit of carnage but i was very surprised,only a few minor bumps in the 1st few turns.What did surprise my when things settled a little and i had dropped 3 places after t1,I see Dan ahead and i'm thinking,how did he get there,lol.

Oh, and not a bad result for a couple of oldsters running against all these whizkids. lol

I have to congratulate Johnathan for a very strong drive as he pushed me the whole way to the end. I qualified 2nd after saving the wrong set-up but was still happy to be on the front row. I got a marginally better start than John and he gave me T1 very cleanly. We were separated by no more than a second until about lap 14 when I caught Dennis exiting the Duplessis Arch and when he checked up I basically drove straight into the back of him ( sorry for that ). I lost a bit of time there and as our pitstops cycled through and John made a great pass into T1. I was fortunate enough that Barry and Jarrod were on long stints and held up John long enough for me to heat up the tires and catch back up.

I made a move when John had to check up at the back of the circuit and went into the 2nd stop about 2 seconds ahead. John again came barreling down on me but I managed to beat him into T1 and hold him off until the end.

It was one of the best races I have ever had and John looks as if he is a top flight sim-racer so I was very glad to be able to keep pace with him ( though I fear once he learns these cars I won't see much of him! ).

Thanks to my teammate Tom for the wing and gear settings they helped me out immeasurably and I thought every driver really made a great effort to give room on this tight circuit.

That was one of the harder races I've ever done, Richard definatly earned the win. Almost every time I've been in that situation (close behind the leader for a long time) I've always been able to push them a little too hard so that they make a mistake, but it didn't work this time. I didn't really make any major mistakes and Richard still beat me, so I was really impressed with his driving.
This was my first race with the V8s in many months but if this is what the races are like here I plan to race them as much as I can now. Congratulations Richard that was one of the best wins I've seen in a while.
