Oschersleben GT3 Cup (Euro)

Cant beleive I screwed that up...
Quallyfing went amazingly well. I suprised myself with that 1:02.1, I was aiming for a 1:02.4 really, but I nailed the lap, and that was the result...
The race started really well, got away and was cruising to save my tyres. Somehow I lost it in the last turn a few laps in and my 3 second gap was erased, and I had CJ right on my tail. I was really looking forward to a tough race with him and Janko, until I got all crossed up again in the final corner trying to predict the backmarkers... bollocks, what a n00b...

Anyway, spent the rest of the race trying to come back. Got to 3rd with no major dramas, then Janko span off and rejoined right infront of me. Passing on this track is so tough that it took me a few laps, but eventually I got a run on him out of the last corner, and Janko blocked the inside, but I was able to use the slipstream from a backmarker to pull up alongside and through, threading the needle between the two cars! Lots of fun...

Anyway, just tried to regulate my pace to the end from there, didnt want Janko to get too close (although some backmarkers trying to do the work for me held me up a couple of times).

Well done CJ... I really wish we could have had a decent race, but I need to learn how to properly drive these cars first... :(

Few scary moments but all in all a fine race. Best I could honestly hope for was 10th in this race with all fast drivers that took part so pretty chuffed to end up in that position.

Was a great race!

Started 2nd and got back to 3rd before T1. Then i was following Scott Michaels and CJ, when suddenly Scott spinned on last corner. Then had a nice battle for 1st with CJ. We both had issues with backmarkers, and we were held up quite a lot. Then i had some more bad moments with one of them and i spinned, so Scott got right on my ass. As he said he got a good run on me on last corner, and with a slipstream help he made such a great pass... I knew that will be a great overtaking when i exited last turn... just couldnt do anything about it... just watched and smiled... :P. Best online overtaking ever IMO! :) So i was 3rd with 10 laps to go and stayed there till the flag.

Grats to CJ on the win, and scott on the pass!

A lot of very fast folks out there today.

First of all, I would like to apologize to Chris, who I tagged in the first lap in the final turns. I was too close and simply did not brake enough in order to avoid the collision.

Also, Ari and Matjaz. I am very sorry for getting into you guys in lap 20 or 21. I don't know what happened. I had plenty of room to stop after I spun, and I should not have ended up where I did, especially since I was off track so far ahead of the turn. I hope to God I didn't do any damage. I checked out after that one since it was apparent I was becoming a hazard.

Turn one was interesting. Somehow I managed to stay out of that mess. Had some offs and was punted 2 times (don't worry David, I know you just wanted me out of your way).

That was the most interesting, action packed race in my racing career!!! What a battle for 4th position... pure racing heaven!

I had a superb car but David must have been using a really low rear wing setting so he was way faster on straights. He was lacking speed on slower parts of the track but it was just to risky to try anything there. As I was chasing him I managed to brush a standing (lagging) car so my car had a bit of a damage but it wasn't to bad. Then I got some help from a backmarker and I was able to pass David for 5th. Just as I was beginning to catch Ari in 4th and was opening a gap towards David I was suddenly joined by Scott who recovered from a spin. I overtook him but he fought back and managed to pass me and then attacked Ari who seemed to be struggling on some parts of the track + there were some backmarkers racing him so we were all able to catch him completely. From then on it was pure racing heaven, trying to pass Ari and at the same time trying to lap drivers who were having their own battles as well. Don was again the toughest to be lapped and at one point he had a spin, went off track and back on right in front of me so we collided but luckily it was a slower part of the track so I managed to slow down and there was no major damage for me. Then Ari was a bit wide coming to the last corner and I managed to pass him with some late braking but he carried a better speed on the S/F straight so I decided to stay on the left side and since that was not a racing line I was completely sideways going into the turn 1 but I somehow managed to catch a car after a very long slide :). Still I lost 2 positions to Ari and David who again joined the battle from the back. Then David attacked Ari after some bad acceleration out of the slow right hander and went by. I was also carrying much more speed so I decided to pass as well and that was really close but I had the inner line and was beside Ari who was being a though but fair driver as usual so there was no incident. For the rest of the race we were having a constant battle with David but he somehow managed to stay ahead of me.

Crazy race and I really must watch the replay again. :D

I really enjoyed this one.
I had a good battle wíth Jason early on and plenty more action for the whole race wether it was being lapped or backmarkers.

Hard track to get round anyone cleanly! I had some contact with a backmarker at around the half way point (sorry) You broke very early for the turn I didn't expect it!

Was closing quickly on Greg-A toward the end, but getting round him would of been something else.

Love these cars and look forward to more :)

btw Matjaz: I'm a Don as well and I make sure I let the leaders through as quickly and cleanly as I can. You may have noticed that having raced with me for the last couple of years or so! LOL ; )

This was one of the most interesting races I have been in. As Matjaz said, the battle for 4th was crazy in the last 10 laps, and I enjoyed it very much. I had the wing at max (7) but for some reason I could not enter the turns as fast as you guys, but could get better exit leading onto the two straights. I had a pretty conservative setup and it showed in the first 10 laps, but as the race wore on I seemed to have retained a little more speed which is what I was hoping for.

It was so hectic with lapped traffic that it is hard to remember all of the action. I will have a look at the replay to see what you are talking about Don, but I can assure you, I would have followed you around for the entire race before I would intentionally bump you off the track. All I can say is that if I hit you it was because you did something I wasn't expecting. I am NOT saying this was your fault, it is my responsibility to get by cleanly, but obviously it is faster for me to pass without contact.

There were several times that lapped traffic would either brake WAY early right on the racing line (I can only assume thinking they were letting me through) or returned to the track without any regard for who was coming. This always makes for some scarey moments.

Anyway, it was still great fun at the end battling with Ari (who looked like his tires were gone - I almost took soft fronts too) and Matjaz. Did that black car come completely to a stop in your view approaching the last corner with about 4 to go? I almost had a heart attack, but I went right through the car and then it magically reappeared in front of me on the straight. That will get your heart going!

No David, I had no problem at that moment but I had the exact same problem you are describing earlier in the first part of the race when you were just about to lap someone coming into the last corner and his car just stopped (lag) completely so I had to go wide to avoid him but still managed to brush him with my right side of the car. Then suddenly his car reappeared in front of me (this time it was moving) on the straight like nothing happened. Maybe it was the same car, I'll have to check my replay. Scary stuff indeed.

Really strange.... my wing was set at 5 so it was lower than yours and you were so much faster on the straights... I just hope it was not my throttle acting strange again.

EDIT: OK I checked the replay and yes it was the same car from Geoffrey that stopped for me and then for you as well 4 laps before finish. Looks like Joco crashed as well behind me when trying to avoid it. Well this things happen, not much to be done here.

I didn't test more than a few laps, so I got caught out with my soft front tires. After a number of laps I started to have understeer and it got worse all the time. I even had the tires worn message nine laps from the flag. I tried to resist but regardless, I dropped from third to seventh, after some really close racing.
