Magny-Cours Grand Prix

This was probrably my worst race ever, from the start were i got pushed out wide into the gravel it went down hill, I had a few problems with the windows update and antivirus scan poping up, which made me go off and damage my car. After repearing them i was more than a minute behind and it was race over.

In the positive side I had qualified 8th and had good race pace, just need better luck.

My first race with these cars and it was fun one to do. Lap one was a bit hectic but the men were separated from the boys very fast. :-) I even think there was one driver who steered his car with his keyboard. Wanna buy an old MS Sidewinder? :-) Grats to Kent and the rest of the podium.

I still can't believe I qualified third! One of the proudest moments of my R2P driving, for sure!
I managed to start fine, and kept third, having to yield to Roberto through the first corners. I then dove up the inside into Adelaide, and made that stick, but ran wide through Chateau D'Eau and had to let him back through (a bit clumsily) into the straight.
I then managed to get back through into second (again, braking into Adelaide I think - braking has to be my strongest suit if the race at Istanbul with Zargani is anything to go by), I think partly due to Allen's engine spewing smoke. This meant after a few laps I kept missing braking points, and as he ran off and I briefly inherited first, Roberto managed to get through, along with a couple of other folk at Adelaide.

From there, I raced in fourth up until the stops. I was gaining on, either Claudio or Donato, and thought I had found a way through, but then had to back off a bit. Then he pitted, and I wound up in second, and put in an extra two laps beyond my intended stop on light fuel load. And it worked! I came out of the pits in second, and kept that place for most of the race. There was even a moment where I came out where I came upon someone and thought it was a backmarker, or to gain third, but it was Kent. I actually had a chance, but from there, he just disappeared. Kent, man, you were just untouchable! Grats.

Partly it was lapping backmarkers, partly it was that the longest stint I'd done in practice on one set of tyres was about 26 laps, but I lost concentration a bit and kept losing time to Miguel and Roberto behind. Annoyed as I was, I was at least happy enough letting a teammate inherit second from me, but Roberto was running so close to him that I couldn't see splitting them.

Then on the last laps, in fourth, I totally botched Imola (my least favourite part of the track!) and became a road block for Donato to hit. I am so sorry! It was stupid of me, and so unfortunate for you!
So, I limped round the last lap with suspension damage and at least grabbed some points.

To be honesy, points is way more than I was expecting, given my race finishes in the last season I raced in, so I can only be happy with it. And, points from both AJ Racing drivers, which has to be a good thing! Longwinded I know, but it was an exciting and stressful race. Great to be back racing. And grats to all on the podium. Good race.

Lost a lot of time in the pits, but I decided to change tyres because they were overheating.

Some clean passes, some less, so I decided to stop on the last corner of the last lap to let Miguel pass because I was not sure if it was lag or a real contact between us.
2nd or 3rd doesn't change much, better be honest.

First time in these cars. I did some counting and result was I can do safely 33 laps on one tank so I went for it. I did not expect to have full 34 laps with so many fast guys on start. Unfortunately fast guys were too slow for my heavily drinking car and even when I tried I had to let George through in last lap:( When he overtook me I just wait for Kent to come and lap me. When I crossed the line and autopilot took control he made it just through T1 and ran out of fuel:)

Nice cars to drive maybe will do more events.

Ah, at least I feel slightly less annoyed about you gaining so much in the last stint since you changed tyres. That said, that means I didn't make up all that much time on my pit strategy, not getting tyres and all. Really could have used the fresh rubber come the last 8 laps!

Jumped in straight from the GT Masters race and have not driven Evo or F3000 since Nords back in March. I got in about 3 laps before we went to qual. But those three laps were really just getting a feel for the car again and that was difficult with 3-4 car dive bombing and spinning.

Personally, I was pretty dissappointed to see the lack of respect out there today but that's all I will say on that subject.

Qual was so so but about as well as I could ecpect considering my lack of preparedness. 7th on the grid.

A not so good start got worse when I was forced to take a WIDE line through T1 losing another position to 8th. Then the carnage at the hairpin saw me rebound back to 7th. There was some really aggressive driving going on ahead of me and this allowed me to slowly work my way forward as others kept taking each other out or making mistakes.

I finally got up to Donato when he lost the car out of 180 and now I was right behind Massa. I kept closing the gap until he finally made an error allowing me to pass.

The rest of the race I controlled the gap behind with the exception of when Slink emerged from the pit. Everyone was fast than I down the straight and Slink made a inside braking attempt on me which I expected so I gave plenty of room. I was not expecting him to come back wide into me on exit and that fired me up so I pintched him down into the next corner and he had to back out early. Then I think he spun at 180 and that was the last I saw of anyone.

Pretty boring second stint. Really happy to get the win, I was seriously hoping for a top 5 so I really am happy with the result!

Grats to all finishers, hopefully next event there won't be so much agressive driving, dissappointing to see so many dnf's

Sorry about the smoke guys, I forgot to change rad back after qual, knew I was in trouble but couldnt escape from the grid so tried to manage it by short shifting, eventually it blew.

Same Problem as Allen. Forgott to change the Rad, so my engine blows up. Sorry for that. See you next race guys
