Daytona Challenge

Well done Anthony, as I said on the screenshot, very well deserved win, the first one is always good :) You'll have to ask someone else about what the second is like... :P

Unexpectedly grabbed my third career pole position despite running off the road on my second attempt, so pretty chuffed with that.

Into the race, got a rocket start, dunno what the rest of you were doing! :)

Circulated at my own pace, got a warning for cutting and changed my lines a bit to compensate. Then ran off the road at T1 - barely scraping the wall! Anthony therefore got past. I was looking at the back of his car for the rest of the race despite another brief spell in front as I first hit the outside wall and then hit a lapped car which was my fault for being on the track where I was. Not the lapped car's fault. Then couldn't find enough to catch Anthony who held on to take his first win!

Bit annoyed with myself of course as my loss was of my own making - but there was no doubt Anthony was very fast indeed!

Finally .... my first online race win, but not without a race long battle with Sam.

Sam shot into the lead from pole, and Marcel also slipped ahead of me into T1, so not a great start for me. Marcel then made a mistake at the chicane on lap 2, with allowed me into 2nd, but Sam was over 3 sec up the road.

I pushed hard, and noticed Sam run wide at T1 a couple of times, and on lap 5 I managed to pass for the lead. Not for long, on lap 7 I made a mistake at the chicane, handing the lead back to Sam.

I had another go at T1, and slid into Sam. Fortunately he kept on course, but I lost it, giving him a 3 sec lead again :(

Pressing on, I managed to close the gap, then starting lap 12, there was a backmarker ahead of us on the straight. I decided to keep to the inside heading to T1, leaving Sam nowhere to go. I then managed to keep my cool, and hang in there for the win, by just 1.275 sec. Thanks Sam for a great race.

Great result Anthony, nice to hear you had a great battle with Sam.

For me, the race was a different story.

Quali was a mega fail! Decided to let the faster H6's past on both of my flying laps so Luckly I qualified second in class, behind Fedor.

Race: Got a fantastic start immediatley getting the legs on Fedor into T1 to take the lead in class.
From then on I just kept building the gap of those behind me. Managed to get up to 30 seconds, but then had to pit due to a stupid mistake (NOT ENOUGH FUEL!)
Got out of the pits with still a 15 second lead and managed to keep her straight to take the Class victory.

By the times seeing in practise I though I can get a touch of podium if I'll not do many mistakes. From 3 on grid I get on second on lap 1 had a short battle with Fedor, but he spun and later I just cruised with no mistakes build up a gap on my teammate Juan. I had no chance to catch James but when he went to pits and I saw gap went down from 30 to 11 sec I though maybe he'll do one more mistake:) But it didn't happen so I took 2nd which is my best official result ever anyway:)
Haven't done any mistake during the race which I'm happy for.

I had a bad start and then in T1 of lap 2 I was fighting to keep my front wheels from becoming rear :) . Just when i thought I did it I realized it' not gonna happen and i spun . After letting the field pass I started getting in rhythm but shortly after got a "connecion lost" so that was it for me ...

I'd like to apologise to Thomas Benham whom I hit while I was lapping him. Looks like you took some damage. Sorry mate, my fault completely.

Horrible everything.. signed up to race with like 10 minutes to qual. never driven the car on the track at all. couldnt get the set up down at all... got the car a little tame during the qualifying/warm up . bad start and just had to baby the very loose, braking locking up car. knew if I finished, i would gain some spots. ended up 5th in class... I'd rather be more prepared next time...

This week was the first time I had driven these cars and after 400 laps I still was not comfortable. I managed a reasonable quali for my standards and started off cautiously.

On lap three or four I put a wheel on the grass and wrecked the car. I got stuck on the grass at the chicane and had a 6 min plus lap.

I managed to get to the pits, repaired some damage and made it to the end. I have to get to understand these vehicles better..I think I may have been overdriving them.

How many of you ran the H6 on 4WD?

Didn't go too badly for my first points scoring race and second race of any kind, never managed the sort of pace i had achieved in any of my practice sessions.

The start of the race went well, managed not to hit anyone or anything into turn one and missed a spinning car in turn two. Settled down after that in mid-class, but made a few mistakes missing braking points in turns 1 and 5.

Worked the tyres a little too hard - mostly through lock-ups and towards the end were past their best so i was heamoarrhaging time and places couple of further mistakes when watching the mirrors for lead class cars including a costly spin in the kink between turns 1 and 2.

Overall was an average run given my lack of racing experience and that my setup was a melancholic cacophony of guesswork and trial and error.

Congratulations to both class winners and well done to all for a good race.
