VHR: Daytona 200

WOW! Best race at r2p.

Had a great car (thanks for the set mark) and was fast! I had a bad qualifying lap and started 11th and was worried.

But no wrecks came and I didn't have to avoid anything. I was running with Dave and Andrew and once we pit we caught back up to the leaders.

Just like that though, Dave and Andrew took each other out. Shame to see. I then pitted again and dropped back, but had fresher tires and less fuel. With this I began drafting with Chris, Eric, Joao, and Tom. Soon enough I was right behind Tom and we where running by ourselves with 15 to go.

Then, a caution came out and I elected not to pit with Chris. Ran behind Tom and was drafting great. I knew if i could get a wheel alongside he couldn't block. But he blocked me. I came back in turn 3/4 and got a huge run but slingshot too late. Great win Tom, congrats, you earned it.Everyone should run this series.

BONUS: I GOT A TRACK RECORD FINALLY!

From practice I felt my car was pretty strong. I got superb drafting practice/help from Mike Guzman. I remebering thinking to myself, 'if I get help like this during the race, LOOK OUT.'
But I wanted to play it safe and start toward the back--mistake. The guy in front of me got a little bit laggy just before the green flag, his rear bumper got jumpy and I got into him, thus causing damage to my front bumper. From then own I decided, 'what the hell . . . just race and see what happens.'
Overall it was a fun race. I kept getting serious butterflies during some of those re-starts--especailly during the last re-start, I thought I was gonna hyperventillate . . . seriously.
I have to give a lot of thanks to Allen Cottoen. I mean a tremendous amount of drafting help from Mr. Cotton. I just couldn't take advantage of it because I had this SHELL car in front of me with a bumper a mile wide. I couldn't pass high--I couldn't go low. Beisdes blocking like rabid grizzly he would get a little laggy and start to bouncing.
On the last lap I got a nice shove from Cotton and tried to pass SHELL low because Eric and Chris were coming with a nice head of steam. They were going high so I went low and got pinched in at the bottom by the grizzly . . . so I had to let off the gas or risk getting wrecked . . . but 'it is what it is.'

Congrats Tom!

Had a great time for my 1st VHR race.

I need to learn the speeds for bump drafting. After the incident with Tim I was afaid to bump draft anyone else.

also have to learn the setups better.

Got slightly clipped after last restart which slowed me up enough where I made a mistake and hit the wall in turn 1.
Blew the tires and crept back to the pits. I didn't want to quit or bring out the yellow so late in the race.

Nice clean racing great group of drivers.

The race was a blast!

I had some really nice drafting partners early in the race (Chris & Andrew) and we managed to pull away from the pack. I was a little worried after my pit stop, not knowing what to expect back in the pack for the first time of the day but having been position behind Chris on the restart, I followed him the best I could back to the front.

Toward the end with Mike Guzman following close behind, I knew he was going to try something considering he announced it throughout the race that he had a plan for the end. Fortunately, I guessed right about his plan and managed to protect the low line while he had dropped below the yellow line to pass but then thought better about it going into turn 4. Mike then pulled back in to draft toward the start/finish line where I narrowly won.

Having to do over maybe I would have added a little tape on my pit stop but maybe next time.

Question...the fact that my upgrades were set to speedway with atlanta tires the reason I could not hold on to a draft?

hmmm i didnt know there where speedway upgrades or not

What you set your tires and upgrades to doesn't matter. The game uses the correct equipment automatically.
