Intro to F1 '79

Great fun guys. I got a great start and took the lead from 2nd on the grid. It didn't take long before Pat was hot on my heals and boy did he apply the pressure. I spent far too much time mirror watching and as a result my times suffered. That just made it easier for Pat and on about lap 15 he got a great run off Club corner and was able get the run into Abby. Unfortunately I wasn't prepared to give it up that easily and we made contact, sending us both into a light spin. I had a feeling I was to blame so I let Pat by. After looking at the replay I guess we're both to blame. Pat thought he had the corner and turned in onto the line. I hadn't quite given up hope and tried to keep tight. My front right tapped his left rear and around we went.

I tried to keep up with him after that but Pat just had a few tenths more than me and his lead slowly increased.

This event doesnt show up in 'Postrace glance' , or is it coz no-one has written anything yet? ...well here we go...

Had a good chase going on and early laps were exciting , had some problems 1st with the grip but after few laps it felt ok and i could start to push a bit more. We had a good fight there with David for the 3rd place and after he did a small mistake in T1 ,i got the place but then in the end of lap 10 it all went down to the drain.
I got taken out by a wingless car who gave the racing line 1st to me , then turned into me when i was passing him. I have to say i cant undertand how could that hapend , i cant see any explanation from the replay anyway.

Very disapointing to practice 100+ laps and stay up untill 7 AM to be taken out like this :| . Ah well... it'll pass , just now it doesn't make me laugh very much thou.

Anyway , limped to pits and changed the front wing and messed up with the pitmenu , but finally got underway in 10th place. Ended up in 9th which was not the result i was hoping for , but thats racing i guess.

Thx all for showing up anyway , it was nice to see so much beautifull cars in track at the same time :)

Big grats to podium finishers , specially the 2 leading cars were very fast , nice job and well deserved positions 8).

Terrific race fellas! Man that was fun.

After reading the posts in pre-race about 1;40's, I didn't hold out too much hope as the best I could muster was 1;42's. Thought I was in trouble for sure. Then I see Pat with 1 friggin 39 in practice! OMG. hehe. So I was pretty surprised to qually 5th. Am I the only one who practices with full tank? LOL.

Managed to hold my postion after turn 1, and then for most of first half too. Even had the leaders still in sight. Figured if I could just hold on to the back of Sammy and David I'd be ok. As it turned out, I was in the right place at the right time. David had a little off giving me 4th, and then Sammy hit a spot of trouble with the wingless car and gave me 3rd. Bummer Sammy. I had a good view of that incident. Hate to advance like that. You didn't have a chance. He probably didn't have mirrors on though, because he turned right into you(at least I hope so!).

Things got a little tougher after that as I was unable to keep pace with those two aliens ahead of me. David was eating at my gap too, little by little. Bugger. At least he's my teammate! Haha.

With about 3 laps to go, he finally got a good draft and smoked me. And so from there I just let him tow me to the finish. Was a good job too because I crossed the line on fumes. This track must be a little longer I guess. Must remember to add a bit more for the next one.

This series is great. I love the way you can get the car sideways at 190 mph! And stay in control! Truly awesome. Were they really this skittish do you think? Must have taken serious balls to do this for real!

Well for the most part it was fun to run these cars for the 1st time.Was able to put in maybe 50 laps or so of pratice,but still could only hit 1:48s.At about 5 min to go before Q i thought about backing out,and then i said no, better to try than not at all.Again i had simple goals in mind,Try hard to finnish in top 10.But if nothing eles finnish the race without taking out any of the leaders when i knew theyed becoming.Meaning run as hard as me and my abilty would allow me,wile still be in control of my car and staying clean.So all in all my race went ok.Took no one out,and i finnished the race.My only complant is that i was hit from behind,and spun by joseph,who did not show much patiance in my view.I make mistakes to...but a simple Sorry
after the race can go a long way

Well, these races are going to happen at the speed of light wont they?
Qualifying for me was a total joke. 2 phones calls which i was obliged to take really screwed the pooch for me. So, in an effort to at least get a lap recorded, i, like an idiot, qualified w/ a 21 lap tank of gas and race tires. dumb.

For the race, at the T1 on L1, another competitor slid up and around we go. No damage and no biggie but in a 20 lap race especially w/ the Schumachers and Sennas up front, I had no choice but to push really hard after that. In doing so, I inadvertantly bumped a slower car and spun him. My fault, I came out of the corner too hot. Tom, I thought you were going to hold to the right and I should have been over more to the left. Worked my way up to 8th but the last 6 laps or so, I had fried tires because I had pushed really hard. Whoever was behind me in 9th did a great job of closing. Anyway, on L19, lost my nose and pitted. Probably should have just stayed out. Anyway, finished 10th but had expected to be in the 7th through 5th area.

These cars are just a blast but this layout of Silverstone is really tricky. For myself I have to make a conscious effort to remember that this layout is a little tighter in some spots than the Silverstone in other sims. Also, got to let these tires get some heat in them early on. I thought the new guys did a great job in cars which are a handfull. Congrats to the winners, finishers, and entrants. Look forward to the next one.

Well, I obviously need more practice with these things. Aside from being diabolical in their own right, I just can't seem to wrap my brain around rF physics. Everything in rF just feels very fake to me. Oh well.

Qualifying was a mess. I blew a corner on my first hot lap and spent about the next two laps trying to stay out of the way of cars that were on hot laps. Finally I found a hole but my tires were shot by that point.

The race didn't go much better. After a few laps, I did a half-spin in the last turn and was stopped right in the line and poor Jeff had nowhere to go and plowed into me. Unfortunately I think that ended his race. Really sorry about that. The rest wasn't much better.

My race went from bad to worse. Awful qualufying due to a lack of practice. Simple as that. Eight seconds off the pace is just way too much and should have retired before the race even started. The start was ok a I waited for mayhem to happen and sure it did, advancing some spots. Of course that wouldn't hold on too much as I get passed by all cars as I was trying to keep the car on the track. I would say that 90% of my driving errors came from lack of throttle control. Then again on the track had a great but brief battle with Tom and Greg. As we began getting lapped I spun in the middle of the darn curve. I saw a car passing me by my left and my first instinct was to move away as fast as possible - to the right... and that screwed some of the leaders race as I got hit from the side trying to get out of the way. Sorry. My suspension broke and thought I had done enough damage for one race, so I parked the car.

I had very little feeling for this race, tried some last minute tweaks and found some stability in them, I qualy'd 6th, not bad but good enough, we took the green and I was freight trained again, lol, kept a safe distance was gaining on whoever was 5th, sry, don’t recall, traveling too fast to look at the tags, got into the stadium section and the 5th place driver checked up for some reason way too soon and caught me off guard and I tapped him, we both lost no positions, stayed on line and it appeared we had no damage, I get to turn 1 and the car under steers like I was on ice, I call for a pit stop, pit stop confirmed they were ready, come around the hairpin onto the straight, hit the gas as usual, begin turn out and somebody in front of me looped it and left me no where to go, I hit his right front with me left, suspension damage and deemed un-fixable.

I agree with Adriano with the fake feeling, i messed around with some of the sounds in the PLR file and it seemed to help some, some that is, nnot a lot, i just don't get the immersion feeling from RF as i do from GTR.

Another great race from where I was sitting. I got a good start with just enough wheelspin and went up the middle between the 5th and 6th place car. But to my shock and horror, the wheels started spinning again in second gear and I fishtailed right in front of the pack, but fortunately everyone was paying attention and we filed into turn 1 cleanly. Fernando was charging up through the pack, and at about the halfway point he managed to get the inside line for that fast righthander at the end of the backstraight. I got a better exit though, and got as close to his gearbox as I dared, and dove down the inside for the next corner. We banged wheels a little bit, then I slid a little when I was grabbing third gear, and he was gone.

Geez Jeff. I was 5th for the better part of the first half and did not feel any bump from you at all! In fact I could see it was you behind me the whole time.....Albeit, 2-3secs back. I'm pretty positive it was not me you hit! I had no contact with anyone or anything. Perhaps a lapped car got between us maybe?
