Intro to Extreme GT

Looks like I missed it guys. I went looking on the GTR2 lobby 3 minutes before Qually and didn't see the room up.

Hope to catch it next time!

Man, I was hoping for a good race. Got rear-ended in the first corner and spun around. Then spent a good chunk of the race in 9th, 10th or 11th. Finally pitted on lap 22 and all was looking good. Except I messed up changing the pit board. After a second pit stop I was too far down to catch up. Oh well, first race in the Maserati and it was good except for the pit board screw up.

Chip are you any relation to Kyle?

I picked a viper tonight without driving it before. Fun but not a good idea lol.

1st corner I slowed for traffic jam and got rear ended, but no damage to my car. Just lost a few position. Worked up to 6th then pitted. Came out in 15th and worked my way back up to 7th by end of race. Pretty much had 1 car in front at 17 sec and a car behind at 20 sec entire 2nd half of race. Boring run. See ya at the next one

Thought I'd take this as an opportunity to evaluate the Maserati though this track isn't particularly useful to evaluate anything other than ponies.

I got fairly comfortable with the car by mid-race, but by that point I had already had a couple incidents, including a big one at the start. For some reason, I kept getting stuttering, usually at the same points on the track every lap, typically mid-corner. One of those stutters caused me to get sideways and I got tagged by a Vette behind me. Whoever it was, I apologize. I bounced off the wall and did a ton of damage. Took about 2 minutes to fix and I was playing catch-up for the rest of the race. Toward the end of my first stint, I got stuck about halfway into the gravel trap at the exit of the second chicane. I think Darin came by and tagged me. Gravel traps that stop you are great for the stopping part, but not so much the getting out of the way part. Sorry about that.

At any rate, not one of my finer outings.

I was running out of brakes going into turn one on the start. I had to take the inside to avoid hitting anyone. I didn't hit anyone but, I might have caused a little mess. Stinkin' Viper has not brakes when cold!! Again I apologize if it effected anyone. Funny to I thought I was being cautious!

Barry, at least get in for a practice session so the server logs you in. Were you looking for a R2P gtr2 server. Hope to see you soon.

I don't know any Kyle. But if he is part of the Wiegand family somewhere, chances are real good our families go back to the same family in Germany many generations ago.

It was an ok run, until I accidentily caused Darin to spin out. SORRY! Totally my fault.

Very interesting race. Chose the Viper for no particular reason. Just wanted to see if I'd like it.

The beginning of the race was going fairly well. I was behind David Poel who was behind David Fish (welcome back, Fishy!). On lap 3, David P and I had a bit of a skirmish. I got a good draft up toward Parabolica, but as I passed, he moved over toward me. I don't know if something happened or what, but I barely squeezed by between his car and the grass. Nearly missed a real bad situation. Then entering Parabolica I'd completed the pass, but David got into me sending me wide. Fortunately no damage, but I lost a lot of time.

Spent the next several laps making up the lost time and got by again only to screw up a few laps later by going wide out of one of the chicanes and I slapped the wall hard losing the nose of my car in the process. Fortunately I was near the pits so I ducked in for repairs. A loooong time elapsed and I was out only to be greeted with a stop-n-go for speeding! Ugh! And it's not just a stop-n-go. I was held up for 14 seconds!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I was last at that point. That was at lap 10. I also opted for soft rears and a full tank unsure if the tires would last. As it turned out, they did pretty well, allowing me to get up into the top 10 by the race finish some 24 laps later. So no complaints here. It was only near the end of the race that I realized most of the front of my car was missing! :-o

The Viper was much more fun than anticipated and now I'm debating between it and the Vette for S4. Hmmm....
