rFBMW: Monaco '79

Congrats to podium and all drivers today.

Well, I love racing at Monaco. I qualified 6th with a high 1:36, but my start (and gentleman racer Phil that didn't want to risk into T1) put me in P4 right after Barney, Zak and Robert. I thought if I kept the line it would be okay to be there for some time, specially if I did well at the corners before long straights.

And it actually went fine: I knew I was slower than the mates behind (Phil, Boyd, Nick and Jack) but I could keep Phil back there until lap 3, when he crahed at the turn before the tunnel. Then it was Boyd coming fast, and I could also hold him there until he lost it in lap 6 and Nick passed (little tap, but Boyd had already spun).

And right when I had a slight gap to Nick and no pressure behind, I go and can't hold myself into T1, crashing against the wall and spinning into the safe area on the right hand side. I dropped until P9, crawled to pitlane and did a long 63 secs. repair to go back on track at P14.

I thought it would be impossible to climb up here, but thanks to the kind people that made it easy for me to pass and an outbrake to Topham, finally got a 9th place that tastes like heaven after having been close to top 3 for 6 whole laps.

HEY! Well done everyone, what could have been a complete mare was avoided by from what I have seen a lot of sensible driving out there. GREAT STUFF GUYS.

Practice had been abysmal for me, but once I got my hands on a decent setup I improved somewhat but expected a mid grid battle.

Certainly got it early doors with five of us nose to tail for several laps until a few departed the scene. (Boyd, I have asked Alan and Dave to have a look at our swimming pool coming together, but from what I saw it seemed to be a racing incident, as Fran says)

Jack was all over me like a bad suit but could not, even though there were a couple of chances, get past me. Great job on the patience front there bud!

Well happy with 4th, seems like it is Fox then the rest this season.

Very enjoyable race. Shame my game froze so many times.

In practise managed to pop into the 34's but unfortunatly for me Quali was a disaster got stuck behind a slow car and spun into the barriers came back out and did exactly the same again so left with only 5 mins i was pushin hard but that made my 3 laps i got in real tatty, Ended up 4th on the grid.

The race got away to an average start noticed fran had got along side me so rather than cause a T1 pile up decided to let him go. Kept with him for the 1st 2 1/2 laps but he took the turn before the tunnel a lot slower than me on lap 3 which i didnt expect and had to slam the brakes on to avoid a punt. this caused me to spin had to then wait for a gap in the traffic to get back on with racing.
I rejoined in 10th but its so damn hard to pass here even when you lap 3 secs a lap faster than the car in front. i made a nice move on colin coming into the turn before the swimming pool as he got the chicane all wrong after that i picked up a couple places through ppl spinning and 2 via guys letting me through due to my speed difference. Thanks Danny and David :). Lap 11 came exiting the swimming pool and my screen just froze for a good 10 seconds. came back and i was a place down and gfx all over the place. did my best to get to the end only took 5th because David and Jack both spun.

I have to say the standard has really gone up guys first class driving as Nick has said it could have been a disaster but it was great Well Done all

not a great start from me i think I could have made an error on the fuel 6 laps left at the end :/ Sam Moss is normally here to guide me "Sam Sam Where are you buddy" lol still Zak kept me honest in the for a good while I think he made the call to take it easy rather than push on this track

settled in to a groove plenty of room given thanks very much :)))

Anyone got any ideas on my freezing?

I have tried the fix thats been posted, but to no effect. I run vista and not xp.

Lapped very cautiously to make sure I finished then 1 lapse saw me clip a barrier so meant a lengthy pitstop.Overall good fun tho surprisingly & a large amount of finishers.
Francisco you were probably surprised to see me leap out of your way as you overtook me for position but I had noticed you were lapping 5 seconds a lap faster than me as you caught me up ! I thought it futile & risky to try & race you so let you by so I could just lap at my own pace rather than risk any chance of contact.

No idea with Vista Si still and XP man here. Probably worth asking in the main forums.

BTW Robert, didn't know you race with your helmet open. Don't bugs bug you? ^_^
