rFBMW: Pukekohe

Congrats to podium.

Surprise for me to finish 11th after two spins, one of them put me in the sandtrap for almost 30 seconds, and loosing my car all over the grass.

Starting from 19th place I found myself 13th at the end of lap 1, but in turn 4 of lap 2 I had my first spin and dropped to 16th.

Then another spin in lap 5 and, when recovering, went straight to the sandtrap to meet Nick there. Dropped one whole lap to the leaders but managed to get out and keep on.

Final mistake was loosing my line when trying to give way to a fast lapping car, and mine went straight to the grass without control ending in the middle of the track. I knew there was a car coming but decided to stay still hoping he could skip me, but he couldn't and crahed me. Sorry Zak.

With a damaged rear suspension decided to go on and finally got a surprising P11.

Stuffed my own race up trying to admin and race at the same time, no fault of Robert really as I should have waited till a straight to type. Unlucky with not being scored but sure we could have worked it out afterwards.

Battled on again to salvage what I could, so apologies to the guys I passed but it paid off grabbing 12th from Rick in the end.

Obviously if anyone has any issues please PM me, again in review I have seen a couple of penalties to be applied next time, including one not taken this time.

Good track though enjoyed my battles even if they were to salvage, good work again by the FOG boys.

EDIT - a couple of incidents have come to light, Melnikov/Jagger/Virt, which the admins will review and adjudicate accordingly.

What can I say about this race.. the qualifying was very good although I had a huge spin while lifting off when Rick spun in front of me but I ended up in P8 afterall.

THe start of the race was exiting, the previous event I was in the back and could take it easy, but this time I needed to focus and make a good start. Luckily it worked out good and I didn't lose a position on the first corners. I had a little too much wheelspin going onto the back straight and I lost a position there. I settled down and saw that a few guy's went offtrack which made me make up some great time and positions and suddenly I was heading into P4. I was driving very consistent and had great fun, unfortunatly couldn't attack for P3 and decided to take care of the car and open up the gap to P5 which was going good and was almost 11 seconds when suddenly on the last turn before start/finish the car went into the grass without any reason and I crashed into the barriers. Limped back to the pits with a wheel turned 60 degreees to the right, making it hard to turn and avoiding the cars which were still on the track.

The pitstop took 171.1 seconds and I was so frustrated that I went 73 km/h trhough the pitlane and I got a 10 second stop/go penalty. By then my race was over and I was 2 laps down on P14 with a car that was just a mess to drive after the so called repairs.

Maybe more luck in the next event.

Kinda boring race for me, ended up 6th after lap 1, making up a place at the start. I was up to 3rd on lap 3 without passing anyone (must of been a few spinners in front of me) and spent the next 22 laps lapping on my own. I then made a silly mistake at T2 taking too much kerb and spinning into the gravel, losing one and a half minutes in the process (damn sinking sand). Finished in 9th.

I just can't seem to get it together - from a practice 58,9 I stuffed up the qualifying again and damaged the car. qualified 17th - whoopee!!! Started ok, took a knock from behind halfway through the first lap which caused some damage and within a couple of laps had made up about 5 places; I then decided that the sand trap looked inviting a duly entered it and hit the barrier as well. Took almost 2 laps to get out of the sand and was missing front wing and the steering was skew. Decided to carry on for the callenge of keeping it going but couldn't take any of the fast sweeps without backing off and gearing down.

Saw Nick closing me down and other than being a little over cautious when the leaders were coming round, which lost some time, there was not much I could do.

Really would like to have a decent race - the more I practice the worse I seem to do.

Qualifying was ok, I really would have needed my fastest ever lap to be pole or runner up, but the times were close so I thought I had a chance in the race.

The star was ok, but the person in front of me missed the lights or something so I had to go around. The first couple laps were fun, lots of clean stuff, although I did see a couple spins around me. Anyway, was coming up to T5 corner when I realized that I missed my break marker/it was gone and ran off into the sand. I tried the clutch and everything I could think of, but gave up when I was passed by the leaders with more than half of the sand left to go before the track.

Would have been fun, but it wasn't going to happen today.

My best race in terms of driving rather than result.

Took a surprise pole then managed to get away in the lead and stayed there until Lap 2 turn 3 where I clipped the kerbing and went wide into turn 4 on the grass and into the wall. Bent the front wheel, suspension and wing and considered coming in for a pit stop but knew that my chance of getting a top 10 would disappear then so continued on in 7th. Started managing to put in some consistent laps and then I hit Francisco going into Turn 4. Had full lock on to try and turn but it wouldnt and we collided.

That made a bigger mess of my wheel, suspension and wing and going down the straights I had to turn the wheel about 50 degrees to the left to keep on going straight which made braking rather 'funky'.

Managed to do alot of consistent laps and when other people fell off the track I eventually got 5th.

Qualy wasn't too great, i just couldn't get a lap hooked up like i could in practice so started 4th. Good start and was behind Barney and Zak, Zak went off on 2nd lap and i just tryed to keep with barney. I managed it for a few laps but i was just loosing too much time through slightly wrong lines now and then and it allowed him to get away. At the end we decided to back off as fuel was certainly going to be tight and we had a big lead so slowed right down so we didn't add an extra lap on.

Wow - certainly didn't expect to finish on the podium in my first FBMW race since July. Very happy with that.

The race started lively, and I was soon up to 8th after starting 10th. Got my braking for T2 all wrong on the second lap, though, and dropped to 11th as I got back on track. After that, I made no mistakes to speak of, and made very few genuine passes on my way to third. The gravel traps in particular gained me a good handful of positions.

Really looking forward to next week's endurance race.

The race was fun as I had a real good blast in this event up until lap 15 were the car crashed.

I just noticed how long that lap and pitstop was, it was a staggering 0:04:38.958. So almost 5 times longer then a lap on Pukekohe needs to be.
