Intro to Extreme GT

Hey, just like old times! Second behind Kent! I'm gonna send all you GTNDC guys on a cruise for a while.

GT/GT1 has really never been my thing, but I still enjoy running it when I can. I didn't get much practice, but I still stuck it into 3rd. I was 3 tenths up on my last qualifying lap when I ran out of fuel.

I had no idea what my strategy would be for the race or what fuel consumption would be like. I put 75 liters in and figured I'd watch how it played out. Kent took off and I followed Sasha for a bit. He spun after a few laps and I moved into second. I couldn't really do much with Kent. By the halfway point, the gap was just under 20 seconds. I didn't know if my tires could make it to the end and I was playing the fuel math game to figure out how much I needed. I thought my only shot would be to try for no tire change, so I just took fuel when I finally sputtered into the pits. (That was close.) Anyway, I came out 20 seconds behind Kent, but it was pretty clear pretty quickly that it wasn't a good move. He started pulling away very quickly and was right on my ass at the end of the race. I was barely hanging on for the last ten laps. Anyway, I'll take a second to Kent. I've had lots of practice at it.

The only incident I had was going down into turn one when coming up to lap Fernando. He spuna and ended up facing the wrong way in the middle of the track. I hit him lightly but then he started to drive through me or something. So I pushed right back and got him out of the way. Not sure what he was thinking.

Well...what a race! Congratulations to Kent, job well done man!! Otherwise, I didn't even plan on this race, and I was surprised to Qualify second. Had a good start, and was looking to hold second. But then, I got confused over how this race even worked (timed or laps or what, irushed it i guess :S, i feel dumb about it) so anyways I basicly lost concentration thinking if I was even going to make it on fuel...and with that I spun out. Forgot where the clutch button was and stalled twice.

Afterwards, I played catch up and drove the heck out of my Lambo. Was glad to even make it back to third, and overall the race was pretty fun. Next time, I'll be a bit more prepared so I dont have a brain fart thinking whether I know how the race even works...lol.

Anyways, clean racing again, cant complain, everyone is a bunch of amazing drivers, and I have a lot of respect for everyone so far.

I was well practiced and all setup for this race. I didn't have time to do a fuel check and just trusted the pit settings. It ended up using half the amount stated. I started with a full tank and had 12 gallons left at the halfway mark when I pitted. I couldn't remember how the fuel thing worked so I told the pitcrew to give me 7 gallons. Well...I already had 12 on board so they didn't give me any fuel!!! arrrrgggghhhh. With 11 laps to go I had to pit again for fuel and a front tire change. When I joined the race I was a lap down in fourth position.

Everything else was fairly consistent. The Vette is a real pleasure to drive and I love the low throaty growl of the engine.

Congrates to Kent and the others. Wish I could have raced... Did all of that practice to have my connection reset while staging for the race.... Oh well..

First I wanna say to Tim and Todd a big wtg!

I decided to run this race yesterday and logged on a little early to get some laps in and work on a setup. Practice went fairly well but I was not happy with the lack of front grip I had and nothing seemed to be helping. Finally late in practice I made some pretty drastic changes and got into the mid 1:04's..whew! Stepped away from teh computer to help my daughter with something and foudn the room was reset and I didn't save my setup argh! Well I remembered most of what I did and it worked out.

Qual was frustrating as I kept catching others and was struggling in the 1:05's and was third fastest. I pitted to get away from everyone and came out behind 2 Vettes, fortunately they cleared and I got a decent lap in but I was still second, the next lap I was slower in sector 1 and figured I was going to be second then I found I was just under in sector 2 and then crossed the line with pole and the session abruptly ended...I didn't even know what kind of lap I did LOL.

Race I figured about 2.1 liters per lap but it was so far off what setup said it should be that I errored on the cautious side and put in a full tank but set the stop to only put in 65 liters. I got a decent start and really just drove it around lap 1 since I have a habit of sliding off lap 1, before 3 laps were done I had 2.5 seconds and then I started racing it. Opened up to about 17 seconds then blew T1 and gave back about 5 seconds. Lap 30 came and I still had 45 liters left so Idrove it a few more laps trying to get back to 20 seconds up and pitted. Came out in second but a lap later Adriano pitted and I resumed with 20 seconds lead. With the car lighter I was about to run mostly 1:05's the rest of the race.

Small field but not bad for a weeknight race and R2P just going live. Traffic was really generous, thanks guys :)

Even after doing some mistakes at the first part of the race I was standing pretty good at 3rd place and about 40seconds ahead of 4th, who has already pitted. My plan was not to change tires (running on mediums). I put 30 laps of fuel but looks like the fuel indication on the track is wrong as I was able to drive more than 40 laps. Disgrace came when I did two silly mistakes, one that took me a while to get back to the track and damaged the car. My gap from 40 seconds went down to merely 10. When I did my pit stop it took me a while to lower the level of fuel required to finish the race and turn off the damage fix and set no rubber change. Once again when leaving pits the rev limiter was switched off (looks like this happen when you turn off the car) and got a black flag. At least now I know how to execute it correctly.

Anyway, fun race, impressive driving by the other Vettes, running in par with some GT cars.
