NASRL Pre-season

I'm gona reinstall rfactor after this race hehehe. I tought it was gona be fine. I've had it freeze on me 3 times in the past week. I did some maintenance and I ran over 2 hours at the SSCA race yesterday, but tonight it did again... so down the drain goes the current install :D.

Good fun....seemed some of us missed grid call...waited for the green on pit lane after the starting group past and headed out and made my way slowly around the track, was a lonely journey :). Had a good pit stop, and re entered with some racing action...saw another no. 57 mustang..forgot who it was...was a work out keeping consistent and trying to keep my pace but i lost it a couple of times when i almost had a position to gain...aarg...happened to me twice...the last time my rear tires were so hot trying to regain control that i must of spun twice around...lol finally i finished the race...
very happy with this mod. Also i want to mention that everyone i encountered on the track were gentlemen.

Kevin, you had my number tonight. Too bad you had the "mechanical failure" with the computer. Porsches are real reliable so you better get that thing looked at.

Seriously though, fantastic run tonight otherwise. I like how you kept your cool during practice and quali. You are obviously not one to rattle.

I didn't come close to matching my practice quali run during the real deal. I started on the grid 4th, but got a great launch when the lights went out to slot behind Kevin into 2nd. I thought for a split second to pressure Kevin into turn 1 (i was up along side), but I didn't want to chance taking both of us out. From there, Kevin checked out after 4 laps. He was spot on with driving and setup.

I was surprised at how much the tires went off throughout the race. I cycled between understeer and neutral numerous times throughout the race. The fronts would go off 1st then a few laps later, the rears would catch up. Surprising for a Porsche. I need to make some setup adjustments for long runs going forward.

Congrats to the other podium finishers. Sorry to see your race end early Kevin.

This is going to be a fun series. I'm looking forward to the rewards weight leveling the field.

Was a fun race while it lasted. This mod is so much fun. Had a good fight with a few people in the first laps until I tried to move a wall with the nose of my vette. Unfortunately the motor was just behind that nose; it strangely decided to stop working (go figure).
From the looks of things, this series is going to be great.

my race ended before it began heh

had some strange sound issue in qualifying and I lost my engine sounds. Then I missed getting on the starting grid and went through the red light in pit lane and got a DQ. Decided to spectate and play camera man

This was a very fun run. Did better then I thought I would. It was a blast. I like this track.

M. Campbell, I was in back of you for a bit. Seen you tap the wall with your right fender, bounce off a bit and eat the wall with your left fender.

After the Campbell incident, I was behind J Pitts for maybe half a lap and seen him oversteer that Caddy, weight shifted and snapped the other way watching as he tried to fight for control of the car.

Very exciting.

Had a fun race even though I misjudged my tire strategy!

I figured if I ran a 2 stopper, I would have more tire left at the end, giving me a small advantage. Well, I was wrong! lol
Driving like a maniac the last few laps, I ended up with mush for front tires trying to catch Ralph.

Did you guys run with only one stop? If so, how were you able to go so fast and still make the tires last so long? It's a mystery to me! lol

Yea Dan I only made one stop. I went into pit about 25min in. Was on the edge at end of each run though. Was glad when the race was over. Had that dang washing machine noise all the way around the track, was very distracting. Ill be hearing that for a few days.. Season is gonna be fun, anyway good win Mike.

Dan. For me in the Vette, I was using 3rd gear for all the slower turns and braking pretty gingerly. What seems to work for me is to just be as smooth as I can and really not mash the throttle and be patient to go full throttle while turning. In T2 and T3 I was working the pedal to be sure the rear wouldn't step out. They aren't slicks so they heat up very easily and if you push them too hard, they melt away like butter in a frying pan. If you need to push to get up to some one I would say do a 2 lap burst then slow down to your regular pace to get the tires cooled down then do another burst.
