NAGT Promo

This is the 2nd race ive lost my FFB when the race starts, i have a key to turn plugins on and off but that didnt help. i dont get it. I might have to ditch reel feel, ive never had a problem with FFB until i installed it.

Also in rF sometimes when the race starts i get this sound kinda like an impact gun, its louder near the pits, weird stuff.

Other than that my 1st 3 laps i had to goto the pits for one reason or another, At least it was not for punting anyone =)

First, apologies...

To Gregg Mulgrew, whom I spun in the Keyhole on lap one. It looked like I had clearance from my POV, but obviously I did not. That got me a drive-thru penalty.

To Bob Zolto, whom I pretty much flipped at the end of the back straight. I have to say that was the most impressive thing I've seen since Joey Hand. This one deserves an explanation, if not an excuse... After the drive-thru, I was trying to climb back towards the front(ish). Kevin Banic and I came upon two fellows battling in the Keyhole, one of them Bob Z. Bob Z. was a bit slow coming out of the Keyhole as a result and I came up on him. I moved left to go around, but it was at the "kink" and I drifted onto the left-hand fringe. As I attempted to slowly merge back onto the tarmac, Bob was moving left to get ready for the braking zone. We touched, he hit one of the concrete hay bails and traveled skyward. I'm really sorry, Bob.

The rest of the race was interesting. I had a decent battles with Kevin Banic and Chris Chappelle... I lost both of them. :-)

Qualy was uneventful... except that I don't think I'm ever going to use "Sticker" tyres ever again. They were *completely* toasted by the end of my seven lap session.

First I would like to apologize to Chris for that bone head move on T3. I wanted to go on the inside but all of a sudden your rear end fills the screen I didn't get on the brakes fast enough. Again sorry Chris.

@William: quickly though they do wear, sticker tires are going to give you faster qualifying times. What I did today was I went out and drove 4 laps or so and my tires were already starting to drop off so I went in to the pits and grabbed a fresh set and came back out.

After the first bulk of qual, I had only had one decent lap, the rest I either screwed up or caught traffic. I was sitting 2nd going in for fresh rubber and I came out with about 1:50 remaining. I went and drove a lap slowly to allow everyone to get as far ahead of me as possible before crossing the line just before the timer expired to try and steal pole. It was going very well at the end of sector 1 when I came around the corner and Mike was just about to come back on track but he saw me and waited. Thank you very much Mike, because that proved to be the lap of the day for me and I took pole with my PB time.

Race was scary at the start. I was on the grid and couldn't see the lights from my position. Even looking left out my car, the lights were hidden by car's frame. Tommy, that's why I was slow to get off and might have seemed to hold you up at the launch. I had to wait until other people were defintely moving before I wanted to get on it. Fortunately, the launch was a good one and it put me clean into T1 and the rest of the race wasn't too much to tell of.

Bob Zolto: we've all been there, getting wrecked by someone's mistake early in the race and it's frustrating, but in all honesty, what reminded me of a public server out there wasn't the driving, it's complaining about an incident in the race session while other people are racing and it's one of the simplest and first rules here. Next time just remember to save it until after. The perspective change after waiting out the race is often a benefit as well.

Haven't been in this race, missed it by a bit but I want to add something to what Justin said. My first NAGT promo race a few days ago was ended in T1. Felt like a public server. I know I wasn't too fast but in the whole race I saw more accidents than in a season at GTR2.
Even if these are promo races you must follow the rules. I saw some very bad driving, joining the track without giving way to others that were racing, very very late time braking to try to steal the inside way after the turning point, anyway you get the picture. We all make mistakes but sometimes you can avoid being simply stupid, just lifting a little or braking a little sooner.
Anyway my two cents here.

That was a lot of fun, I love this mod. I chose to drive the Mustang Cobra because, well, mainly because I work for Ford. Got a 10TH place qualifying lap which I was satisfied with, people really did not space out enough in qualifying and I ended up too close to other cars and could not get as good of a lap as possible.

For the record let me just say that I hate formation laps! I don't feel they were necessary here. During the formation lap I felt crowded numerous times and got a little nervous about possible contact. Then when I came to the end of the formation lap someone was parked in my spot so I had to brake earlier than expected and I got rear ended. Damaged the rear of my car before the race even started! I am not sure if it affected me very much in the race though.

On the first turn I barely avoided a spun car. Then I had a great battle with Jim Barisoff and Bryce Aston for about 5 laps. Very nice driving guys, we had some close bumper to bumper battles. Everyone exercised patience with passing, and it was a lot of fun. I finally broke free a little bit from them and moved up closer to Jim Pejsa in a Corvette C6. I followed him close for many laps but did not have enough speed to make a real passing attempt. This was my first real experience with this mod, and I am impressed.

Great battles all over the track. I should of waited for 5 min mark to qual. I went out in a group and was 1.5 sec slower than my best practice time. Just couldn't get a clean lap with cars spinning and slower drivers. Live and learn.
I qual'd in 9th. Start of race was heavy with lots of jockeying for postion. Made my way up to 6th. Lots of great battles with Ryan and Jim. Great nose to tail racing. After about 10 laps, I over heated the fronts and lost 6th place. I had to slow down about 1 sec off prev pace to let tires cool. For rest of race, I was wishing I could gain back 5 sec to be in the 4 way battle for 3rd... Next time.

Yep, the battle for 3rd was a doozy.

Jim Pejsa, thanks for an awesome and clean race. That may be the most intense race I have had to date because you were right there the whole time and I knew if i blew a corner at all i was done. There were 2 times that i lost track of you in my mirror at the end of the long straight so I just maintained my normal racing line and I hope that i didnt cut you off going into that corner. If i never see another red-nosed corvette Ill be a happy man :)

And also to Brian Harrell and Kevin Ransom....thank you guys for moving over and letting us through near the end of the race. We were having quite a battle and i appreciate the room you guys gave us. I can promise you that I will return the favor at the first chance i get.

Thanks for the apology Kevin. I must admit I was pretty hot about it last night. However, in hindsight it was my own unforced error on the opening lap that put me that far back in the field and caused my resultant mindset of trying my damndest to work my way back up the field to ease the blow a little bit.

I decided to try the Corvette for this event, and initial indications were good. I felt quite comfortable in it, and I had managed to throw a stable setup together in the practice session prior to the race.

Despite sporting the Banner livery, it was not a banner event for me. After spinning in the first turn when I grabbed too much curbing, I managed to work my way back through about half the pack over the next few laps before I caught Melchione and Ransom, who had their own battle for position going on. I was caught behind them for a couple of laps, impatiently waiting for one or the other of them to make their pass stick and get back into single file, but it seemed they were side by side in the braking zone of virtually every corner where a pass could be attempted.

Not long after Melchione took himself out of the fray with a spin, I finally got the run I needed on Ransom and pulled ahead and in front of him, only to lose several positions when he missed the brake zone and got into me, knocking me into one of those concrete hay bales. I must have spun a dozen times before the car came to rest against the armco, so I backed away from it and worked my way out of the sand and got back underway. I believe he waited for me after the shunt, thanks for that Kevin.

I managed to take back a few of positions I lost in the incident before the checkered flew, but overall it was a disappointing outing for my first run in the Corvette and my first time at this track.

Justin was certainly the class of the field, congrats to him for the win.

Good racing the whole way chasing David. Had a good run a few times down the long straight going into T3 but never enough to make a safe pass attempt - nice driving.

Last five laps or so we had a close 4-way battle for 3rd. Ryan was pushing me hard and it looked like Jim B. was right there with him. Fun racing.
