Spa Enduro

News Release:

OG was released from the "Medical Center" at Spa and we caught up with him, so this is what he said:

"Well, All I have is some bruised wrists and ribs...It was a hard hit... Michael and I had very similar lap times, though he was faster in Sector 1....Coming out of Turn 1 he was so close and I was thinking about let him by, but we were racing hard...Going up the hill to Eau Rouge he moved to the left to try to make a pass or avoid contact and he just clipped the barrier, which sent him to the right and he made contact with my rear bumper, but the contact was hard enough to send me spinning and the car just went head-on into the barrier. The front was completely destroy and I could not get the car out..Nothing else I can say, it was just a racing incident of 2 guys fighting hard...He an I talked privately and is all cool...No hard feelings. It was a great battle!" :)

For some or other reason the server dumped me from the start grid after warmup. Name just disappeared but was still connected. Hit the race button and I ended up high in the sky falling to the ground. It's a shame since someone else also ended up not being able to race.
I was hoping to redeem a little credibility after my last Spa excursion, but it was not to be.
Well done all finishers and the 2 podiums!

Hey Boyd - I had exactly the same thing. Literally a metre away form a nice hotlap (looking like high 1m21) in qualy, I got taken to the warm up screen. I was in 17th position!! Then I disappeared. I could watch other guys in warm up so went for race - and yep - dumped into an Ardennes ravine from a great height!!!

There were some issues.I noticed after 1 qual lap,there were no other times up,so,having seen this sort of thing before,i rejoined and all was well.

Guess i haven't raced at Spa enough. I was expecting the race to begin at the last turn leading onto the S/F straight. But i guess it begins at the bus stop?

Got caught up in a big wreck on what i thought was still the formation lap heading into La Source when someone hit me from behind. Must have lost my rear wing because the car just snapped into the barrier in the gentle curve at the S/F line.

Limped around to the pits, did the repairs and just tried to finish from there.

Grats to podiums. And grats on a great effort to Ralph who was almost there but for another litre or two of fuel.

There were a f-cking 47 or so drivers listed for this race and 25 showed up. And I made room for people. Tar and feathers!

OMG a race to forget :P

Noticed loads of people getting ctd`s and disco`s in fp, then my turn came in qualy - dumped to desktop and then reloaded and got on the server about half way in, so i just wanted a banker, nothing special... then on my outlap i got rammed up the backside 3 times!!! and needless to say the backend was very loose, but i just did a lap as time was running short and was way back, server explained that if i joined i could be invisible, so that could explain the 3 hits.

Then the race...

Got to the end of the formation lap and got rammed up the arse going into la source hairpin :( ruined any chance of doing well now the car balance was ruined, i had worked out you didn`t need to stop as Barry and Ralph proved, but i got to the half way point and the tyres were shredded due to me fighting the back end from the first lap shunt, drove as hard as i could maybe too hard, had 2 stupid half spins by braking too hard :( and a massive moment through eau rouge which i somehow got out of, infact every lap through there and pouhon was scary (real edge of the seat stuff) shame really i had a decent pace with a full belly.

Plus side is i lasted the 90mins without a loss of connection.

Qualifying was a bit a of a screw up as went out with radiator set at 2,& only lasted 1 lap until the engine expired,was sure the amb temp was low when I went out but upon checking when back at the pits was actually about 40 degrees,tbh I don't think I was going to go that much quicker anyway.
On the green was able to stay on the tail of the top 5 for a short time then they just went of into the distance & found myself battling with Jussi,who had obviously had a poor qualifying,until I made a slip up & he got past.Pitsop went ok & towards the closing laps was in 6th place only to find on the 2nd last lap that Jussi had gone off & was able to "steal" 5th place in the dying moments of the race.Bad luck Jussi.
Congrats to all podium & all finishers.

Quali went ok wasnt brilliant was on a much better lap as it ended but hey thats life :).

Race was quite fun must apologise to Sergey for the little tap into the chicane at the end of the straight really sorry for that :( anyway let him have the place before i continued, went on to pass him later in the lap into bus stop then set about making up lost places from waiting for Sergey to rejoin was doin quite well until i came up behind Ralph was stuck behind him forever eventually made a nice pass on him then noticed David had spun on the turn before Pouhon anyway carried on but next lap pushed a little to hard on worn tyres through Blanchimont as i was coming in for a stop as i'd nailed my tyres following ralph ended up over the barrier on the left side of the track somehow race over :(.

I got destroyed on my out lap during qualy by a GT car fook!!

Started from the back of the grid and apart from a few silly offs at first was begining to claw my way back. Pitted on lap 19 I think and the next lap as I was coming out of Eau Rouge a GT car steamed into the back of me before I had time to settle and pull over. Badly damaged back end, pitted but took 93s, went out but the car was oversteering and was a bit of a pig to drive.

I really wish GT drivers would simply accept the fact there is another race going on beside there own. I little thoughless sometimes eh?
