Magny-Cours (TC-65)

woohoo, a nice Saturday morning drive for me. Pole and Win with no real challenge. Saw some other great racing in the pack though.

Congrats to Mike Waltz for a great drive in his first race with us.

I echo Tim's comments, great racing with you Mike.

Qualed 4th, but got a great launch on the start, at turn 1, Tommy kind of drifted off in the dirty stuff, which stuck me in 2nd. Donny and I banged bumpers for a few laps, then he got disco/ctd, and me and Mike fought for a few laps. But Mike's big Falcon just out dragged me coming out of the corners, and he made a great move in turn one and stuck it.

I tried keeping the gap to Mike within 1.5secs for most of the race, until the last 10 or so laps, the tyres on the 'Stang were toast, and I was having trouble even keeping Enis in the Gentlemanly Jag behind me. ;) Great stuff.

Picked Jag, 'cause it makes me feel like royalty, and ended up 10th. There isnt' really much more to say than that.

Downer for me as my GTL woes continue with the occasional crash to a blue screen with error messages forcing a reset have graduated to a full-power shutdown of the computer! Just stops altogether and comes back on about 5 minutes later. Some people have suggested that the unit is overheating but data would seem no, it's running well within operating range.

Of course, I was effectively 'killed instantly' from P2 after a good tussle with JC and Tom.

Ditto in the GTC-65 race after some fine dicing with Jerry and Pete. Ah, well.

Won't be back with GTL in any capacity until this problem is cured.

Thanks guys. That was a fun race. I saw a lot of clean smart driving in traffic.

Fun race, I decided on the mini-cooper and it turned out to be a pretty good car, but was under powered for sure coming out of the few turns that are on this track. Finished 9th. I had fun chasing Enis around until he made a mistake and let me by for 9th.

Fun little race I had in the Abarth, had some good fighting going on early with Bob in the Mini and Pete Bunce in the Jag, P5 was all that was innit here I think, just can't compete with the faster muscle cars here.

Well, turns out that the problem is OVERHEATING!!!

I discovered by accident today that my computer housing has a hinged door up front and when I opened it, found that the major cooling fan duct was 95% plugged with swarf! Ditto a seconday inlet! OMG!!! The fan has a pretty fierce draw so it obviously doesn't take long to get plugged up. I've since thoroughly cleaned the works and will be checking this on a regular basis from now on. Geeezzzz...

awesome, at least you found the problem Donnie. Now you know that every month you should give your PC a blow or two [grin]
