Anyone want Setup From Hell? :)

For an old geezer Cool-Dan is pretty quick in an open wheeler.

Fantastic race. Spent a lot of time practicing, and yet looking at my laptimes, you wouldn't know it. Consistency is what helped me through it though. Towards the end I saw chris coming in my rearview and just tried to hold the line. Nice racing Chris! You definitely would of had me there.

I want to thank Jon, and Jarrod for all their help in practice with me this weekend. Great racing!

Could of had a top 5 I think

Watch the replay and you will see me make a couple of no no's here at R2P. I rejoined the track when there was some traffic coming up...I usually am a lot better at waiting, but that grass is soooo slow. I thought I was close enough to get back on the track with the car(s) behind far enough that it would have been safe, but the car moved sooo slowely going from the grass onto the asphalt. My appologies if I was in anyone's way.

I really need more time on this track. I spent most of my practice sessions working on a setup...and it's still not right...I keep getting jousted when I run over a couple of the curbs. Well...at least I scored some points.

Lol Finn, that was a fun race. Would have been some hairy laps if we could have been closer. I had no clue on fuel strategy. Ended up a few laps short so had to make an extra stop. Was worried you would pass me but just made it out with 6sec to spare! haha

Anyway, it was great being in a race with you, just like the old days.

I was looking forward to at least getting passed by Steve, missed you out there, not that often we're in same race together.

Glad to see fellow TST member Tommy G. finish. You'll get it all together Tommy and then you'll be kicking my butt, your doing great after being away for so long - it's great having you back pal.

I had a blast here today, some real intense laps with a few of the boys. Mike G. gave me some fun when we were side by side for several turns with no serious contact - that was fun Mike! : )

Hey guys, post your wing settings, real curious about this.

I had mine set at 19/24. I was maxed out at 196mph(315kph) with this setting.

This track is a real pain to get the right wing settings, set for speed or for handling.

I chose to go for handling. I'm glad I did, as I saw many of the guys having trouble in the curvy stuff with many spins (I had my share of spins, but would have been impossible to drive with low down force - at least for my limited skill level).

Struggled with traffic a bit in qualifying but still managed to nab the pole by .6ish. Happy with that.

Race was all good in the first half, had a couple of little FPS hits here and there but otherwise reasonable. Was pulling away from the main field at quite a rate. Although Peter was keeping me honest 6/7 seconds behind.

I then had a moment of madness when I dropped a rear wheel onto the grass exiting turn 2. Had a slow spin into the gravel and rejoined just as Peter nipped through. Fortunately, I was easily fast enough down the front stretch to stick it down the inside going into T1.

I stopped before Pete and set about hotlapping as soon as I got out. I repassed Pete when he stopped and pulled out another 7/8 seconds.

Race then settled down as I pulled out more and more of a gap. Then, on lap 44 i had an engine failure comming of the backstretch and the rear wheels locked sending me into a spin and retirement.

Disappointed not to win a race I had in the bag. Still, I've learned a lot from this race and I look to be competitive enough to challenge for the title.

Great driving from the backmarkers today, absolutely faultless.

was running 7th or 8th when 4 some reason i got a drive thru penalty. after that my mind wasnt in it nd i ended up spinning multiple times nd getting laps. rather than let atricion take its course i called it quits

Bad luck Jon. You were clearly the fastest here today. I was hoping to just keep you within sight throughout the race. I guess I have a lot of work to do for Sepang!

Dan, ran a 15/18 wings and 5 engine boost during the race. Topped out around 329-330 KPH with no slipstreaming. It was neither the fastest on the oval nor the infield but I felt the compromised setup was going to work best over 48 laps. Tire wear was very good. Balance was good over all. Probably could have race the full 71 laps without any issues with tire or engine wear.

This is not one of my favorite tracks to drive on (though I do miss going to the US Grand Prix). Hopefully Sepang will be better for me.

Sorry Dan, I missed your request for wing info. I was running a 12/10 setup here with max revs and varying the fuel mixture between 5/7. I was suprised to have an engine failure in all honesty, as all of the pre-season testing I had done seemed to suggest that I should be more concerned about the brakes and keeping them at optimum temp. You live and learn! I was maxing out at 345kph in qualifying trim.
