GT3: Sepang

I just lost all concentration in that, no other excuse.

Well I punted Gabor at T1, I almost slowed down enough but I was just getting funneled down the outside. Someone went into the back of me, nowhere for the driver to go really and I got spun around. In my eagerness to get away I threw a 180 but hit Michael Virt.

I do apologise to Michael and Gabor and I hope it didn't completely ruin your race. I have been beaten with a very big stick if thats any consolation.

Well it was a really fun race I must say... This track doesn't fit me it seems, plus I'm kinda rusty since I sim-race rarely at this time of year but there was a great battle between me and Tom. Swapped positions a few times along with numerous attempts to outtake, so kudos for that.

Qualy went as expected, just nabbed 4th in the dying second from Tom :P did go quicker previously but it`s doing it in the pressure cooker that matters ;)

Well not happy, ok got to the finish this time but i had the pace to fight for a top3 again, had 3rd place jorec in my sights but couldn`t take him - half spin cost me a position at the final turn whilst trying to outbrake him early on, and then just drove a race basically trying hard to move forward only to go backwards, errors in judgement in trying to overtake to quick, next time i`ll apply more pressure. Battled on with Heinz and nudged him sideways in the closing laps when 3 of us were all trying to get throught the final turn, i let him have his position back at T1, then just fought Heinz hard until the end and almost got it going through the uphill hairpin on the outside but he didn`t realise i was running out of room and i sot spun again and ended up 7th :P

For an event i thought i could do well on - an event to forget :P 4th fastest race lap and only 1s shy of Claus is what i`ll take from here......

Good scrap, Joco! I'm sorry for the contact, should be more careful. I was glad you came back without losing any more positions. After the touch the 3rd place was yours, really, so...
Difficult car to set. ...so this might be my chance, lol!

Qualified 11th with a time that was best so far 2m10.1??. Off the start I thought I did quite well but P13 flew by. Decided to take it smooth around 1st corner as I was on the outside of the track. Left plenty of space, but someone on the inside outbraked themselves (Van Der Spuy), hit another car, which spun into me and spun me around. I then got hit again (they couldn't avoid me) as I was sideways on the track which rolled me back into the gravel at Turn 1. Got back on track to see I was in last place (21st). Big damage to passenger door and lighter damage to right front bumper. Round corner 2 there had been more mayhem and I picked up a place to P20 straight away. By around mid point of the race I'd worked my way up to P15, overtaking moves being nice and clean whilst getting by several cars - which was not easy due to similar performance levels. Car was good under braking, but not quite right under turn in - maybe due to front bumper damage? Applying pressure rather than do or die moves is defintely the way to go. Then the chase was on to catch Miguel de Raton after I got by Galloway for P15. I was 4.6 seconds behind (if pitboard memory serves me right) and at the end I finished 0.9 behind, making a mistake on the last lap which cost me the chance to challenge down into the last corner (that was the plan). Struggled to find consistent pace which I had in practice on the server, and my fastest lap was a second off my consistent race pace from hours before. But had a blast again. If only I could remove that target with the bullseye which says "hit me"!!! So P15 it was. EDIT - P14 now after penalty for other driver.

Grats to podium, Claus is just on another level in these cars!!!

I was checking my setups at the end of free practice and thought i had opened my quali setup, but i had actually opened my race seteup, and only realised this 3 and half mins left in the session i was heavy on fuel, felt really stupid, but was able to knock a 2m9.9 and what was good about that was realising i could do this in the race now aswell!

started in 10th, and had a REAL good start off the line, picked up 3 spots up to T1..

then had some really close racing with George and Garret.
Was thinking it was damn awesome having a works porsche touring car cup, it was looking good all around with almost everyone except claus having a race with someone..,.

I noticed david brown making a few mistakes everynow and then, and was hoping i could catch him at some point.. Also noticed Joco and tom having a mega battle, and thought they had to touch at some point, and both of these became reality and i got passed David and Joco, but on the same lap as i got passed them both, we came up to the final corner and it looked like there was just too much speed from both David and Joco, and david got into the back of me and turned me around... I wasn't very impressed with this as i just gained up to 4th, but anyway, David thanks for being a gentleman and waiting to give me 5th back, couldnt do a think about joco .. what a gift you lucker :P !!!!

Then I had david killing me at the back the last couple laps, and unfortunatly he tried a daring pass uphill but i thought i gave him more room than what there was and he bounced off my car, since i was still ahead at the time i didnt think i was wrong to carry on infront...

Finished 5th which is pretty decent from 10th

I started and finished the race.
Nothing more matters. Congrats 2 Claus, and to my two team mates Heinz And Darren.

My start was good i could get at about p14. Then i couldn't alive the first corners.
However you try drive carefully if you're in the middle of the party...
I do excuse to Chris, i know sometimes sh*t happens.

I'm not happy that the first lap punting rule does not working well. Chris's got a penalty after the race but i saw other driver in the replay who should get but he hadn't got.

At the race, after that, i was a little bit mad and killed my tires. I was runing on soft-med and the front of the car was very understeering at the end of the race so it was a surviving ride to the finish at the second part.
We had some nice battles with Barry, that was cool. Congrats to Barry, it was fine, this time you were faster ;)

There may be official protests at any race as per R2P rules. Always worth checking results later to see if anything has happened (even for incidents you weren't aware of).

But yes, if you punt on first lap the rule is drive through pits and if not done then a lap penalty is normally added if stewards are aware of this happening of course.

Good fun race although I always seem to struggle for pace a bit more in any kind of Porsche. There were alot of guys on very similar pace and that made for some close racing, I lost positions at the start and ended up in 10th. Moved up a couple spots after mistakes in front and then tried to stay with Heinz but didn't quite have the speed. Spent the rest of the race swapping positions with George as we both made small mistakes which dropped us back.
