rF3: OldRing

Well I could say a boring race as I spent a lot of time alone on track, but once I got into a rhythm loved throwing the car round here.

Attendance I guess sums up which is the more popular single seater mod and as such is noted, although I guess holiday season comes into it as well.

Did my best to throw third away with three spins mid race, but made it back through to hang in there at the end.

Grats to all who finished.

I must say it was a fun race and I love this track. Hope to be racing here more times in the future.

I spent 18 laps chasing Carlos for the 5th position and when I finaly got it I lost concentration for a second and spun into the barrier. Had to pit and then settle for 7th place.

Great start for me Steve Davis kept me under pressure the entire race thanks mate ;) very unlucky for him to have a small spin coming up to lapping some cars I had a scare myself with the unlucky mr Wicks who had no rear wing and spun into the 3rd gear right hander near the end of the lap we touched very light I did not suffer any damage I know he did all he could to get out of the way and when I came upto him again he made plenty of room thanks to all as normal its a great driving within Race to Play & Shark Ecosse servers

I think the problem is not the mod so much as the 40 minutes long race at the same track we have just raced the FBMW for 25 minutes in all around 2 and a half hours around the same track which I think for some people is a bit much I personally prefer the F3 although a bit harder to drive I would like to see it used again

Not really ever done much racing in the F3's so was unsure how I'd go. Did my best qualifying yet for 4th so had high hopes for the race now. Had a short battle with Cox and Phillips on opening laps, but then again like in the FBMW's I drifted away from everyone and found myself quite lonely, had 2 spins in first 15 laps but still circulated alone in 4th, then Nick had some spins and found myself promoted to 3rd, I pushed a bit harder but eventually he had more speed and got past. Next lap on exit of Variante Alta car spun onto gravel, as I tried to get it facing right way again it snapped 180 on me, rear went into the wall, off flew my wing, got back on track and as I approached the tight right-hander saw the leader in my mirrors as I started to spin with lack of grip (it turned out my right rear wheel was damaged and mis-aligned and so my car was crabbing badly too), sorry for the scare Barney. Pitted for repairs (couldnt fix the bent wheel though so had to do rest of the race driving sideways!) but i got a stop/go for pitlane speeding next lol. Anyway I dropped down the order from 4th to 8th, 3 laps down :(

Given my practice pace, my aim beforehand was a Top 5 finish (well, 5th). After a solid start, I was stuck in 7th place for fifteen laps, trying to find a way past Jens Nilsson and Carlos Garcia. It was a great battle. It was clear I was faster than them, but unfortunately they were faster where it mattered down the long straight, which meant any pass would either have to be forced, or wait for a mistake. Forced passes are not my style, so I waited. The mistakes were a long time coming, but they came, and I moved up to 5th in consecutive laps. Then Mark Wicks had an off and had to pit, placing me in 4th place. So happy with the result.

The end of the race was a bit worrying, though, as I must have misjudged the pace of the leaders and therefore how many laps fuel I'd need. Crossed the line with 0.2g left, which was enough to take me past the first corner. Had I not been lapped... Ach, what am I saying - it was perfectly judged! :D

Fantastic track in fantastic cars. A hugely rewarding experience, even when alone on track. Credit to Nick for pitting OLDRing on the schedule.

Barbagello next. That's gonna be insane. I can't wait! :)

I also prefer the F3's to the FBMW's & hope they stay on the schedule. I think at 40 mins the races are a little long for some people so they just do the FBMW's. I prefer both races being on the same track as learning 2 different tracks would be a lot harder.
The in game F1 type mod is also a lot of fun the FIS I think it is.
I had fun just lapping alone for much of the race on such a great track in the F3's last night.

Got a clean start from the front row & spent 99% of the race battling with Barney which was a lot of fun.Unfortunately had a bit of a spin as we came across some backmarkers when I zigged instead of zagged,my fault.From then on just tried not to make anymore mistakes as catching Barney was going to be hard & finished up in 2nd.
