E21: Silverstone

Oh dear, what a rubbish race for me!
Practice was good, I had a good setup and thought I would qualify well. Alas, it didn't go that well, I kept making silly mistakes on my fast laps, so I qualified 9th, about a second off of what I could have achieved, and did achieve in practice. Anyway.
The race - Didn't go very well. Got an okay start, and I was still 9th at the end of the first lap. The car I was following spun in front of me, and I spun in avoidance. Not his fault, that was purely mine for not paying enough attention. A bit of a mess, Rebelo behind me spun as well! Got going again down in about 15th, but coming out of Brooklands on the same lap I encountered a car (Moss) who I just couldn't avoid, as I was trying to pass someone else. Sorry for the damage, if any was inflicted, Sam. Anyway, after that, I had damage to the car, and got going again in 20th... In a few laps I was up to about 16th behind Collins I think it was, but then I was tapped into a spin from behind into Brooklands - not happy about that one as it wasn't my fault! :(
Then it was just a matter of getting the car to the line, and I had a good battle with Strang and Wicks, which was fun :)
Not a good race for me though.

I will be sooo glad to get my proper PC back, as this old one really struggles with the framerate on this version of Silverstone - i was down to around the 15 mark through Bridge & Luffield which is rubbish frankly.

Sorry about the contact Ivan - you left the door a bit open that lap and i had to go for it, but as i was passing you're car it vanished so i thought you had run wider and so i took a more normal line out and then i felt the bang and saw you a few metres off the ground in my mirror. It was a real shame 'cos it was shaping up to be a good fight between us and Ali coming from behind.

It was like a smokers convention at the front with me and 3 JPS cars - Ivan beat me off the line so i just tried to stay close and put him under as much pressure as i could, but he drove really well and only really gave me one half chance which resulted in his warpbounce as pictured right :P

anyway felt bad enough to move over and give him his spot back at the end which gave Ali the win - good job this aint ASCORS rofl :P

What a blast. Thanks again to the Sharks for putting these races on. If it was in my timezone, I'd be here every week for these two series', but alas, it is only on occasion I may partake.

Started in a decent spot and had a lot of close racing. I gained a few positions and was running in 6th for quite a while but as Jay mentioned, the car he was following spun, which caused him to spin, which caused me to spin. ;)

Came back from that in 19th spot with Alan on my tail. Fought back from there to finally look like settling for 11th position when on the final lap I come around the last left hand turn and gain 4 positions due to a big pile-up of cars (see screenshot). So, that was a nice gift.

what a hoot that was :) made a mistake on lap one which lost me some ground and i struggled to get it back. great fight with the top 4 and when it all settled jack was 3 secs ahead. slowly chipped away but would never hav got him and then he turned into the most honest driver the world ahs ever seen lol but i'll take it :) really needed a win so well happy.
And yea Jack, i dont think if it was ascors you would have done the same lol!

Annoyed again. Qualified 4th then got the worst possible start and dropped down to 8th by first corner. Got 7th on the run out of the first corner and got 6th when Roger came into pits. Was challenging for 5th and was alongside when got a connection lost.

I was rewarded a penalty after the Brianza race, so I had to serve a drive through on lap 1, so I was back in 21st position. Had a great time, fighting my way back through the field. I had just made it into the top 10 again in time... I thought! But then there was someone facing the wrong direction in the final lap in the stadium, and I ran into him, lost some positions again, finishing 12th in the end. Not the best result; great fun though!

Started last by not qualifying, but given I'd not done any setup work, I'd have been near enough there anyway. Didn't have the pace to threaten anyone (3s off race winning pace), really, but towards the end of the race I was involved in a great battle with Mark Wicks and Jay Arikar, with positions changing several times a lap. That I only finished 16th isn't important - it was a fun race, and I can see why these cars have been such a popular addition to the Shark independent chapter. Thanks all. :)

Well my race can be summed up as 'slow but consistent'. Not really done much running in these cars and it shows by being 4secs a lap off leaders pace. So I started near the back but just wanted to keep it consistent and on-track and gradually picked up a few places as people had excursions off-track, I knew the only way of staying where I was was to drive defensively and Jay and Alan had to put up with me making my car as wide as is legal, had some slides but managed to keep them behind me to the end =)

For any of you guys who love these cars as much as I do, I encourage you to come take part in my birthday bash! 60 minutes of Nordschleife in the E21s!

It is a US timezone, so many of you might not be able to attend, but if you can, we would love to have you out. The more the merrier.

This track is the truest test of consistent driving and with these cars it is SO much fun.

Not sure if my 'spin' can 'cause' you to spin, especially since I was in front of Jay and there was no contact. And technically I did not spin- definitely got loose and drifted a bit, but kept her going straight. Fun race regardless!
