TRM: Donington

Congrats to podium and all finishers.

This is gonna be a tight series. So many mates so close to each other gives lots of chances and lots of fun.

I did a good start sneaking among cars and won 3 spots, putting myself 8th right behind Nick, but Maciej came right behind me real soon and passed easily in T1 on L3 or so. Then I was chasing Nick for some turns until I could not get a clean line after lapping a mate, touched the green and my car spun, dropping from 9th to 13th. Luckily all the drivers behind could avoid me.

I kept on pushing to try to gain a few places back and got into battle with D. Robinson, who made an spectacular pass at the chicane before S/F line. I could get closer to him in some places, and tried to copy his chicane pass but I'm not that good and he escaped in front of me. Then, in T1 I spun again and dropped to 17th.

Thought it was gonna be my final position because of the consistent pace of all drivers, but it seems I was not the only one having troubles because from there on I gained 7 places to finish 10th, but none of the passes was on track but to drivers offroad or in pits.

Good result in the end, nice start and good feeling for this series.

My race was going fine early on although seemed to be fairly lonely after the first few laps, slipped back a bit then had a smash into the final turn and bent the car up.

Settled in for a low finish but misjudged which lap we finished on, timer finished and thought that was it, hit Mark Miller who had run out of fuel as the two cars went either side on the final straight and I was unsighted, reversed over the line and thought that was it then realised I had one more lap to do! Probably cost me a couple of (non scoring) places but apart from that was a great first event and really looking forward to the rest of the series.

Congrats to Tristan for a fine victory. I'm surprised by my podium finish, it was more down to people running out of fuel than to my driving I think!

Gutted with my finish. I ran out of gas at the chicane on the last lap and stopped 100' from the finish line. My own fault.

I think 2nd place traded hands at least 4 times. Great fight for the podium spots.

Mark McClean and I had a great battle for 2nd right up till the end. I stumbled on the straight before the chicane and Mark drove on by. I would likely have finished if I didn't have the off track excursion on lap 6 of the race. This is the 2nd time. No more.

Mike, I think you ran out of fuel with 1lap+100' to go, not just 100'. Not sure if that should make you feel better or worse..?! It sounds like you had a fine battle at least.

Well that was very strange i made a good quali then when i came into the race it was still around 20 sec till it start but the race was on already i got hit from behind wchich damaged my car and put almost at the back of the grid . It was a shame because i was hoping to fight for the win. I start to gain some places and despite my car was very difficult to drive after that hit i was able to climb up to 2 place. Unfortunetly i was pushing to hard i slide and hit the tire wall wchich ended my race.

Well it was a very odd race for me. Qualified 8th, which was a shock as the same time got me 2nd in practice, really don't know how you guys are getting such quick qual times.. Anyway come race start, it seemed someone in around 5th got a bad start so managed to pick a few places up in first corner.

Then was having a great race with 3rd and 4th place guys (sorry can't remember you names) until i touched grass at Coppice (right hander top of hill) and you guys were gone. Then made a spin at Mcleans then the chicane another few laps later dropped me back into the mid pack.

Had a good race there until i realised i was going to run out of fuel 2 laps before end, pitted and came out 16th. Not sure what happened in chicane going into last lap, just didn't have enough time to hit the brakes when Nick hit the car in middle of track.

Thanks for setting the championship up Shark and TRM guys, seems like its gonna be some good fun, looking forward to Anderstorp now :)

Nick, my apologies. I was the one who hit you from behind as we were braking for the chicane. I was suffering from warping issues the majority of the race and that moment was no exception. :( I was curious if anyone else experienced the same. Several times I had to avoid ghost cars stopped on the track. You know the kind.....images left behind from cars ahead, but if you touch them you quickly find out they're solid! Anyway, those caused me to go off track twice early in the race. Not to mention when I got close to another car the warping would sometimes get worse. Bummer...

Anyway, I qual'd much better than I'd anticipated and started 4th. Overall, the car felt good and I was happy with my pace, but between the warping issues and me simply being rusty I had some bobbles that cost me precious positions. And then I rear ended Nick under braking. As a self-imposed punishment I immediately pulled in to the pits. About a minute later I pulled out nearly in last place. I managed to pick up a few more spots and salvage a more respectable finish.
