IRL: Kansas 150

My setup was loose for the first couplelaps but is great after a few well.Had alittle contact at the start and was bad from there.Went to stop and the brakes locked and after that couldnt go stright think tire was bad.But gj to all the racers and great jon to the top 3.

Good race guys. I had a lot of fun watching the leaders mix it up. As for my race, well didn't qual cause I wanted to start in the back and watch everything unfold. Once the race started most of you guys were gone. Spent several laps just riding around then I went to pass someone and got lightly touch and it sent my car into the in inside wall. When I hit the wall the car did several flips in the air then landed on all four tires but the engine was completely dead. So I just sat back and watched all the good racing.

About the over heating issue, my suggestion is when you pit to keep the revs as low as possible. Reving the engine will cause it to overheat quicker. Once you get back on track the engine should cool off. A better suggestion would be to just kill the engine as soon as you hit your pit. And then once they are done fire the engine back up. Personally I have not played around with this yet because I have never set up my controls for ignition and starter. Going to do that as soon as I get a chance.

Great job David. Wish I could have been there in the end. I went in for a pit stop and missed pit road entry so the sim wouldnt service my car. Pulled the pin after that.

Same song, different verse. Yet another shitty ending to an otherwise great race. Was having great fun with Jon, swaping the lead back and forth. Halfway, though, we collided after coming out of T4 side by side and I was thrown into the fence. I had no clue what had happenend, it was that fast. Sorry for the whole incident, Jon :(. Damage was bad, but after fixing, the car itself wasn't as slow as I thought it would be. Not good enough for the win, but it did have decent speed. Problem was, the engine had other plans. Just couldn't take it anymore and blew up coming out of the pits with 10 to go. Great...

Oh well, fun while it lasted. Should see ya guys at Richmond in a few weeks.

Great race and congrats to David.
Had a great car and knew I "could be a contendah". I just needed to be in the slipstream of Jon and Conor on the last lap and I would be all set! Got a great start and stayed with Jon in 2nd for the early part of the race, then Conor joined us and I was very happy to just stay with them. Just before the first yellow I almost lost it on the front straight, and sustained some damage but the car was still okay. My pitstops lasted 17 sec every time, and on the first I lost a ton of positions, coming out 7th, which meant I had to fight back to get back to my position with Jon and Conor. By then the two of them were too far ahead and I could not enjoy their slipstream. I just had to wait for a yellow. When they had their incident and following the pitstops I was once again with my friend Jon, although at times this guy I know from the stock cars David Fridley would loom not that far behind :-) Same thing with Jeremy Denzer, he was not too far behind. A couple of times with both I might have made the space between our cars a little too thin, sometimes it's hard to judge because a)the spotter is an idiot, and b)these cars can dart quite a bit in the draft. My main focus was with Jon though. I basically spent the last third of the race focusing on how I would set him up for the last lap. Jon would hold a much tighter line throughout most of the track, problem was I wasn't sure that I could draft my way and pass on the outside in time for the finish line, so I figured I would have had to dupe him and pass him on the inside but it would have been extremely risky. I soon realized though, much to my worry, that I'd have to do a green flag stop: I thought, great, I will come out last because I am usually the world's worst driver in the pits. I tried to lower my fuel amount but I wasn't sure how many laps there were left and I was worried, so I put in probably 10 laps extra-- however other than that my pitstop was flawless BUT 17 seconds! (I guess the tires are what take the longest). Then the biggest surprise of the race-- Jon pitted a lap or two after me, but then he was no longer with me. I was all lonely. That David Friedley, ah...he was in front of me but surely he had to pit, right? Hang on, I might have a chance to win an R2P event? I started crying in my sim-cockpit, sobbing and shoving kleenex in my nose (okay, that's not quite true but I did get a buzz from the idea of being actually close). Wait a minute, when is David pitting? Soon I realized that he wasn't going to be pitting and I was taking a second and more off his lead and I knew he must have been on fumes and conserving- by the time it was 4 seconds I was like "I can make it! I can make it! How many laps are there left?" Just as I was thinking that, the silly "ONE LAP TO GO" chatty thing came out and I was gutted-- I started thinking ill thoughts of David's fuel tank. Usually a second place would have me rolling in joy and repeatedly hugging myself, and I was a little ashamed to be disapointed so I slapped myself silly a few times in the pits.
David did a fantastic job staying with the leaders and being there when it mattered, I don't know how he did it but that was superb. I still hate his fuel tank though. :-)

That was brutal. Race started tight with Conor and Francesco who were both being very racey. It stayed like that for sometime until the first caution when we lost Francesco and could concentrate on hitting the lap times. Conor and I were trading positions for what felt like every turn of every lap... sizing each other up etc.

Then, disaster struck... Im still not entirely sure what happened but I suspect that we simply just drifted into one another comming off of four. I know at the time it was a complete suprise to see Conor pitch across my nose cone and into the wall. So sorry mate. My car didn't go as fast as it had done after that.

Managed to hold onto the lead though and was being hounded by Francesco for a long while. Little did we know that David was conserving his fuel brilliantly and would not have to stop. You earned the victory David well done!

During my stop I sped on entry to pitlane AGAIN! I don't think there was a great deal in it, but I really need to work on my pit entries it seems! Did a drive through and came out 5th which is where I finished. Didn't deserve the win after what had happened with Conor and in any case, David's brilliant fuel strategy meant that I wouldn't have won anyway!

Thanks guys, it was great racing with ya all. Especially Francesco and Jon towards the end there.

To clear something up though, I actually did pit at the end there. But I saved an enormous amount of time by pitting for fuel only, needing just 4 seconds of it. What nearly sucked though was that as I started to do some laps after coming out of the pits, I was a bit worried that I hadn't actually taken enough. But seeing as I had such a big lead over Francesco, I was able to back it down enough to get to the checkered flag running on fumes. With just enough left to do a few doughnuts. =)

I'd just like to thank William Mize and Asphault Assault Racing for creating this series, Tommy Christian for creating this spectacular mod, and everyone doing a good job of giving us leaders plenty of room. Albeit, I hate to see so many DNF's though, I guess its largely the nature of this style racing with these types of cars.

I had an awesome car ( Thanks David ) and was having a blast running very close to two cars in particular. Sorry ,I can`t remember who it was. I knew I would be a factor somehow in this race. Then the screen froze up but I still had sound. That was scary and I hope I didn`t crash anyone. Esc. didn`t work and ctrl-alt-delete didn`t kick in for a good twenty secs. or so. Yeah, I DNF`d but it wasn`t my fucking fault.
I like this style of racing. It mixes something I am at least decent at (oval racing) with something I totally suck at (open wheel racing) so I should be completely average in the end. So yay for me, the totally average guy with a piece of shit computer.
