Well, I wasn't planning to race this event, as much as I wanted to (because I love Laguna Seca). I figured I wouldn't be able to get home in time for qualifying, but I ended up making it in just before practice, so I suited up and hit the track. I had a hard time finding a steady pace since I hadn't been in these cars for about a month. Qualified pretty weak with 11/16, but during the race I soon found my rhythm. George is in another dimension altogether, but I managed to have as good a pace as the rest of the pack but quickly noticed my strong point was the corkscrew. My gaps to the next car were almost unchanging until coming through the corkscrew and closing up a half second at a time. I soon picked my way up to third running behind Greg Prichard and could see we were going to have a great battle. It took me 2 or 3 laps to close in on him and then I got my opening when he bit a little curb coming through T6 heading up rahal straight. I took the position and set myself to just holding him off. A lap later at the SAME turn, I saw Greg make the same mistake but with much greater consequences as he launched off the track at T6. It would normally be a relief to see this, but I was just in this race for fun and was actually looking forward to racing Greg for the next half of the race as we had a very similar pace. Unfortunately, the last 12 laps or so were completely dead. I think I came upon 2 or 3 lapped cars and that was the end.

I am glad to finally have my first podium finish at R2P that wasn't a win. I have 5 podiums before this, all wins, and several 4ths and lower but never a 2nd or 3rd until now.

I am going to make it a point to run every event at this track that I can, as I seem to have some luck with it. Having run it three times, I have three podiums with two wins (both from pole).

Thanks for the race, though it's a shame some of the potential front-runners had their races cut short. :(

What a chaotic race. I honestly can't write a report cuz I'm still confused on what happened. Tons of people left right before the race, came back just in time, started at the back. Guys coming and going out from around me all throughout the race, I tossed it off the track 2 times after getting distracted by chat, and before I knew it I had a little checkered flag tab in my upper left corner.

Even so, great performance George. You put on a clinic for sure!

The people leaving and coming back to start from the back, I assume, is a result of the 10-lap qualifying. Anyone who ran too many laps would be disqualified and have to re-join (from the back of the field).

I think I ended up where I started 7th. Had to change my brake bias as the fuel load reduced, ended up spinning and giving up two positions. Great job George, well done.

I didn't leave and come back because of qualifying, I got dropped from the server as soon as one guy who did get DQ'ed dropped out. When I rejoined it still showed me as being in second place, but then a second me showed up in last place.

I started from the rear. Made a small miscalculation that caused a spin, then a lapse of memory caused a serious incident with the wall (was one corner off, which at a high speed track is a very serious matter!). Some poor guy followed me off track also, sorry bought that!

I was pretty frustrated that the event was so far behind schedule. I like that laid back 'let's start whenever' mentality when I have lots of time, but when I am on a tight schedule and move my day around so I can make a race the relaxed atmosphere doesn't work very well for me. The further behind schedule it gets the more guilty I feel for sitting at the computer playing a game rather then getting stuff done.

I love these cars and the tracks, and you guys are cool too, but I don't think I want to spend time practicing on this series. I may try some arrive and drive though, these cars are just too fun to not race...

Like a dumbass i started the race with i think 9 laps of fuel. Was running second and was almost to tears when i had to pit for fuel!! lol Then fought my way back to 6th i believe. Then just lost it and ripped off a wing. Still came back out and almost salvaged a point. I'm not sure what the hub bub was about, but this series is awesome. I truly look forward to it. So let's not destroy it before it even gets going.

Good time here, was running 6th but got pushed into the wall on the front strait at the top of the hill by Mike M.
I'm assuming (and hope) he didn't know I was there, but that damaged my car enough that I had a couple offs and had to pit for repairs.
After that it was just a matter of putting in the laps.
Agree with Scott, I like these cars also and can't wait for the next event

Great race everyone! congrats to Justin and Kevin on 2nd and 3rd :-)

one of my favorite tracks and also my home track about 40 mins away. I tried these cars about 3 days or so before the race and thought they felt good. I took the default setup and set the wings to 20/20 and put in some laps. I used 20/18 for Qual and 20/19 for the race. I did adjust the gearing to just about redline down the main straight and then evened out the gearing inbetween. The only other things I changed was the steering ratio and braking % and that is personal feel.

Sorry I didnt see any request for a setup but I prolly would have suggested trying the default with downforce.

Sorry wrong info in last post. I was use to the CCWS cars max wings at 20 the Formula Nippon I used 30/28 for Qual and 30/29 for the race
