Le Mans was a difficult mistress as usual :) Congrats to the podium! Nice result for Jim, well done! Les & Mike had a real barn-burner going for the first few laps, until I think Les got wide at the kink? I hung on to 3rd for a long time, gained some time on Les here and there before finally sliding into the armco at Indianapolis on lap 8 :( Could only limp around at 50mph after that, and decided to retire after forcing Mike to pass just a little too close on the way to Porsche curves. Great result also for Miguel in the wailing Porsche!

Time to go fire up "Le Mans" on the big screen... just call me Steve!

Duking it out with Les the first 3 laps was terrifying. I don't know how the guys from the 60's drove these cars in real life. The MkI Gulf was much more stable than the MkII terror Les and I were driving, but still is a death trap.

Les got the jump on me off the line. What can I do with a 1st gear that goes up to 90+ mph. Les gave me a lot of room under braking into T2 so I retook the lead there. He caught and passed me right before the Mulsanne kink.

He was a bit quicker coming out of the Porsche Curve so I worked to close the gap up till the next Mulsanne straight. I was right up his chuff heading into the Mulsanne kink and was planning a pass under braking under the Mulsanne hairpin. As I turned the wheel at the 100 marker, I didn't get enough bite and the car washed wide. I immediately had to lift to get the car to turn. Does the game simulate aero push? I'd like to see the replay to see if I missed my turn in or infact the car did push because I lost front downforce.

Even though I wasn't right up on the back of Les at this point I still wanted to pass him. I was using the 2nd white BP sign on the left as a brake marker (just before it in MkII, just after it in MkI Gulf). It seems like Les was using something a bit different because he was slowing down a bit more than me. I was getting ready to abort and chuck the car into the armco on the left. It just wasn't stopping. Luckily, at the last moment, the car slowed enough to not his Les.

At one point we had a 2nd drag race. This time coming out of the Mulsanne kink. I won this battle and looked back only once. I think Les dropped a couple wheels drivers right at the quick left kink before the Ford Chicane. He fought to hold onto it, but the car shot across the track and brushed the armco. He fought to regain control and I thought he may not stop and hit me in the Ford Chicane. No contact was made, but it spelled the end for his race. He must have been down on speed in the straights and may have had handling issues too.

From that point, I just tried to keep it off the fence. I got one scare as Hutch explained earlier. I was actually on a flier preparing to set a fast lap when I saw this wandering pile of crap in the road up ahead on the way to Indianapolis. I backed it way down fearing my race may end there. Even after backing down, the closing rate was terrifying. I think that is part of the reason why Hutch shut it down.

Yup, I'd have been more than just a wandering pile of crap if I had taken you out then! The car had suddenly started oscillating back and forth and I was fighting to keep it in the right lane- when you flashed by it was obvious I was a blatant hazard and should just bail out before my luck ran out.
