Vintage GT Pre-season

Fun race for me- Mike checked out early, gone from sight by lap 2, but I had Gord breathing down my neck for pretty much the whole race. That is, until I nearly ran out of fuel. Pit fuel estimation is off at this track by about 10% or so I guess. Looks like Gord just went with a full tank, and was able to go the distance for the win, 'grats Gordo.

Well done to Jim for his first race with us- nice job at a difficult track. Tough first time out for Robert, whose FF went out at race start, things will go smoother at Mid-Ohio I'm sure.

First and last time I use GTR2 PD. Lost connection, got it fixed, but then the stupid message that I can only join during practice sessions. I wish Simbin/ISI had hired the LFS guys to do the multiplayer code.

Well, on the first lap, I flipped over and landed on my roof. Not much else to say. Sigh. I really love this track and was looking forward to a long close race, but it was not to be.

Well my night was a F@$#%^@ blast. Couldn't see the start lights from P2 on the grid, had to wait for Mike to start. This meant big problems with the preferred outside line moving quicker than the inside line. I worked to the putside to set up T1, someone went blowing by underneath me, I couldn't turn in, went into the wall and my race was over. This is the kind of experience that makes me reconsider committing time to simracing.

I love these little cars and the historic tracks. Send me back to the 60's. My little Mini was tearing up the track during practice and qualifing. I probably could have been faster in the Abarth or Lotus, but the Mini was so easy to drive I couldn't pass it up. I did my personal best in quali, but it wasn't enough. Mike W just got me on the last lap. Too bad he had his issue and couldn't start. That would have made a great battle.

I never saw the lights so I just started when the timer started ticking. I thought I was going to be smoked off the line, but I just got ahead in T1. From there, I checked out in my own zip code. The car was handling great and was easy to drive fast.

With 20 minutes to go I ran some fuel calculations in my head and felt I was going to be close or be short 1 lap. I backed off and started to short shift and conserve fuel. With 5 minutes to go, I realized I would be 2 laps short so I decided to pit. I had a bit of a moment earlier in the race when my wife called me which threw off my concentration in T1. I did some damage which cost me an eternity in the pits. I ask the guys not to fix anything, but I guess they didn't receive the radio communication. I took 120 seconds in the pits. That put me from 40 second lead to 4th a few seconds back and 2 laps to go. The car handled very differently, but I pushed hard to grab the spot.

Not much prac time for this fun run. I knew I was off the pace. I was running 2 flat in an abarth and knew ray, the Mike's and Gord where running 55-58's.
I got a great start and ended up in 3rd by 2nd or 3rd corner behind the 2 mikes. I was hit in the rear quater panel and lost a position and was pretty unhappy about it for the next couple of corners and door slapped a wall causing a spin. Sorry for the TS banter while I was hot under the collar. I Lost a bunch of position. Cars where door slapping walls everywhere and the attrition or connection rates had people dropping left and right. I found a groove and started to chip away at a 10 sec interval to Sheldon. I caught him and just as I was about to pass he disco'd or quit... Next was Gordo and Hutch 20+ secs up. I was running laps in the 58 and 57 range by this time. After about 5-6 laps I was only 7 secs behind but got the call for low fuel with 6 mins remaining. Hutch and Mike Miller pitted. I passed them but then had to pit myself. Gordo cruised to a victory and I gave him a few good bumper shots at the end of the race. LOL

Great fun in these dorky little cars.

I really enjoyed my first NASRL Vintage race.I could not break 2:00 in qualifing,so I assumed my role would be a back marker in this race.I ordered the pit crew to fill another 15% more fuel,as I was not worried about the weight penalty-I was already slow!!The Lotus understeered, so my turn in speed was down,but at least,I could keep the car between the guard rails and not cave in the body work.To my suprise, I moved up the grid to 3rd place,until Mike Miller easily ran past me to take 3rd finish,even with a pitstop.,on the last lap.it all was great fun and I will be there for Mid Ohio.

Yea i don't know what happened had ffb during practice and qualifying. but once the light went green, it was a whole different story. got quite a shock going into the first turn. did the best i could, cause it's really weird not having ffb when your used to it being there. we will see what happens at Mid-Ohio. iam wondering if i have a conflict with the Mod

Had a good race and a good car. Those Abarth's are so easy to drive. I fender banging was incredible. I felt bad for Bryce as he told me I punted him on the first lap. Sorry Bryce, I had to short shift the last 4 laps to make it home on fuel and loved the revenge taps from Bryce on my last lap. I deserved it I guess so no problems Bryce. The Monico track is so much fun and so skill testing so I hope we have it again this season or next,,,soon. I had a blast.
