1 hour of Portland

Well, at least I finished this one :-) I had a decent start, then moved up to the top 10 till someone hit me in the back... ugh. Following that accident, I was comfortably running 11th, had a decent fastest lap of 1:06.1, then got hit in the back by someone again..... :-) Finally, I crashed heavily and the car became totally undrivable, so I just cruised to the finish... down by 8 laps.

That was brutal! I think I spent more time going sideways than forwards!

I had zero practice prior to joining the server and although I knew the track I figured that my Essington setup would serve me well... it didn't LOL! I had to raise the ride height, soften the springs and whack the wings upto full just to stand a chance at staying on the circuit. As a consequence, I had a car that was fairly quick round the bendy bits and over the bumps but down the straight I was getting murdered! My rears were going off very quickly too.

All-told I had good fun, there were a couple of scary moments with backmarkers and I had a spin about mid race that left me in a dangerous position. Sorry to the guys who got held up.

Apologies, should have waited to cool down before I spoke.

First off just want to say sorry to Andre. Your ping was in the high 200s and u were warping across the track even on the warmup lap. After we got the green flag I braked well early into turn 1 and u were well in front. Round the second part of the first chicane u warped from the inside of the curve to the outside and then we touched. The touch unfortunately meant that u span and caused a crash behind. I expected the drive through but believe me the warp cause it , v v sorry.

After that well I did the drive through and then my pit stop but got a stop go for that so was well down. I put in alot of good clean laps and then caught Dennis. Dennis however was a lap up so just stayed with him but he made an error out of the final turn so went past.

Good race all some good battles but my raced was sad because of the incident with Andre. I have the replay in case admin wish to see.

I am happy for start in 2nd place in my first race.
I regret not being able to finish the race, but was good experience.

I'm really not sure how I feel about this race. I had a morning commitment that ran long so I logged in with about 3 minutes to spare, got 2 laps in in the warmup, and off we went.

I drove 10 really good laps by my own standards, which happens to be the farthest I've gotten in my short r2p career without driving off the track or anything else. Came from last up to 11th when I got hit very hard from behind for the second time by the same driver. The second punt knocked me off course and thrashed my suspension, as I learned in the high-speed left/right a few seconds later.

Let me just interject here, that just because you've taken yourself out on the first lap, doesn't mean that you getting back to the front is my priority. I had no intention of fighting with someone who was 3 sec a lap faster, but punting me in the twisties is not a cool way to get around.

Anyway, after fixing that damage and being dumped back out in the middle of lapping traffic, (and serving a drive through for a stupid speed limit error on my part), I tracked out 1 mm too wide on the last turn, hit the tire wall and spun spectacularly. Very glad I didn't collect anyone, sorry for the scare.

One more pitstop and I was more or less ok to the finish.

2 apologies owed: Kerry Grant, sorry about that deal in turn 1 early on. Lost sight of you, thought you'd given up and dropped back in behind, never actually knew I'd even hit you until I watched the replay. I really did mean to let you by not screw up your race... Also to Dave Robinson, you were lapping me cleanly when I held it too far right, bounced off of wall then you. My bad. I'm happy to leave that stupid wall behind for good.

So I had the slowest fast lap of the race, by quite a bit, but I the only 10 laps I had without damage happened to be the first 10 laps back at speed. I soldiered on and I'm pretty pleased with a 13th. Maybe a couple more spots were there if not for 2 hard crashes but maybe not. Will keep practicing and hope for better next time.

Had a really good time running this race, especially considering I had not run this track in about a year, and had never used the FABCAR mod before. These things were a blast to drive.

I was fortunate to avoid the festival turn maylay of the first lap, and found myself in 4th place. As laps progressed, I was easily passed by some quicker cars and got situated into 7th. After I pitted, around lap 30, I came back out and stayed at 5th and later up to 4th place. I was hounded the whole last quarter of the race by Ralph, who really poured alot of pressure on (nice job Ralph). I finished in 4th, and am very happy considering I was over a second over the time of the TQ time in qualication.

I haven't been able to run as many r2play races as I would like because of the time involved, but I intend to make time. It is much more enjoyable running with a group of folks who you feel comfortable passing, or being passed by, then when playing "pickup games" on the net.

Q'd about 2 1/2 tenths off PB, and ended up 5th.
Thought its a long race and hopefully we could all settle
into a nice pace.
On the start I was right up on Greg P (I think) but, moved around him into T1 and we were clean thru there, nice job Greg. But......Someone in front of us spun and I got caught up in it a bit. Not a problem,, no damage. Just had to put in the laps. Had a good battle with someone (I gotta watch the replay) and I just kept patient waiting for the right time to pass, it all worked out.
My car ran really good, it really stuck through the esses
and the last chicane, I would make up time in the esses when following people.

Really enjoyed this race even though I made some uncharacteristic errors. Two were at the same turn, last turn leading on to front straight, and one was what I now consider an "rFactor error". You know where you are doing the same thing you did for the last twenty laps, but suddenly the car is out of control. Must be the fact of running up front instead of battling for a top 15. The competition here at R2P keeps getting better all the time and I keep getting older by the day.
I missed the T1 incident on lap 1 and ended up in 3rd. Had a good run with Dennis in the early going and managed to stay ahead for awhile although he was getting closer every lap. He eventually got by and I spent most of the race somewhere in the top 5 in spite of the offs.
The final segment after my pit stop was a good battle with Chris for a fair number of laps. I went off at one point at thought the battle was over then all of a sudden he was in front again and the battle resumed. I thought I might have had a chance at a pass but we hit traffic on the last lap I believe at that was it.
While Cris and I were battling I passed someone in the first turn and thought I was clear. After watching the replay it appears we touched. Sorry for the contact.
