1 hour of Essington

I have no idea where my grip went in the first three or four laps. In warmup and practice my race set had been great... come the event it'self and I'm all over the show. Bit of a headscratcher.

Anyway.

Set my Pb in Qual to get 2nd on the grid close behind Pablo, I threw it off at the first corner when the front tyres seemingly decided they wanted to be in the stands and not on the tarmac. Nearly lost it big time through the flat out turn at the top of the hill and I think I caught out Mark Snyder who had nowhere to go as I tried to control the tank slapper and he hit me.

Then came an unfortunate incident between myself and Kerry Grant, he seemed to have had a mishap at the aforementioned flat out turn and distracted by the chat box I was too late in slamming on the brakes to avoiding panning into him. Sorry dude.

I had a spin not long after during contact with Nick Becker. Not your fault Nick, I was stuck on the curb for some odd reason and was in the way.

So now, with damage on pretty much every single part of the car... tyres that would not grip and a rear end that would NOT stay still I tried to fight back. Fortunately, as the fuel load lowered the grip level seemed to improve.

I managed to stretch out my fuel and tyres to last longer than pretty much everyone else and gained quite a few places. I also gambled on not fixing the damage to save time in the pits and this put me even further up.

I was chasing Dennis Cummings for 5th spot and eventually forced a pass on him after many laps. Unfortunately THE VERY NEXT LAP I spazzed it off the road and let him back past.

I gave up on a bad job at this point and cruised home for 6th.

Character building is all I can take from this race.

Guys I just wanted to apologize for ruining a great race. Jon you can not apologize for my idiocy. I had a drive thru penalty for whatever reason (I think I may have barely moved before the green light) and I lost total concentration. I tried to send a chat so the race steward could correct the penalty and as a result I lost control of my car. Guys I am so sorry. I really was looking forward to a good clean run and I know a lot of you were as well.

Glad of the result, but it was a kind of a lonely one!! as jon said, he gave me the 2nd spot right off the start and cruised to the finish as Pablo was not reacheable...end of the story.
Great job on all backmarkers, it was easy to overpass :)
