GTx: Birmingham [Novice]

Great race. Couldn't quite catch Sam after the disorienting qualifying drive. It was quite easy to get by lapped cars, thank you to all who let me by without a struggle.

Congratulations to all the finishers.

Oh and Michael, sorry for the close call on the second to last lap : )

Thanx to everyone! My first online race, ever, and it was great ... except for the car overheating and me inflicting some damage when I hit a tyre wall, and not repairing the splitter and driving the last few laps on a flat tyre and and and ... I loved it, every second!

When is the next Novice GTR2 event? I think I have to get rFactor and Race07 as well in order to do more races!!

Rammed head-on into Vladimir Shestakov as he had drastically decelerated on a very narrow, fast section of track. Managed to pit, then lapped him another couple of times.

Vladimir, read the Codes & Regs again (the complete version) and try not to change your lane or speed when someone faster wants to over take you. Be predictable!

Qualified 3rd - Finished 3rd

I managed to get 3rd in qualify in tricky damp conditions. Initially i went out on slicks not noticing that the track was damp, so i done one timed lap on slicks then came back into pits to take on intermediates, which were much better suited to the track conditions.

A good start off the grid saw me slot nicely into 3rd place until i got hit and went back down to about 7th and a few laps later i got hit again. Before the pitstops i managed to climb up to 5th place but entering the pits i had a car infront of me that slowed to about 5mph. As i tried to overtake this very slow moving car i got stuck on the wall for what seemed forever.

I had some great battles in this race and thanks to all the cars i was lapping for making overtaking easy.

Congrats to the podium!

Sorry to Kinloch, i t-boned you going pretty fast, I tried to slow down/stop when i saw that vette slam into the wall and bounce back onto the track into you. Unfortunately that is the fastest section of the track and i really had no idea where you were, it was like watching slide show. you were just lagging all over the place. regardless my apologies.

Well I have no idea how my car stayed running, but it did and that incident was about 4 min into the race, had to pit to get a lot of stuff replaced, 2+min pit to put me 2+ laps back, it was too early in the race to load up on fuel to go the distance. My only goal now was to not DNF.

I qualified 9th on wets, with the exception of a few turns the car felt really solid and luckily the sun was shining for the race and finshed 9th after falling laps behind the next guy. Got punted on the 1st lap. Then slammed into a wall and went air born around lap 3(see above and SS), 2 pit stops and by mid race the oil was in the red and shortly after my water temps went red, i was pushing as hard as possible, i got back on the same lap as 8th place and pushing but just couldnt close the gap. I must be lucky with fuel, i had under 3L when the race ended.

interesting race, ill also give a thanks to the slower guys that moved out of the way too. I also got to do a lot more racing and not driving by myself looking at big spiders lol As usual i had a lot of fun and cant wait for the next one!

Was behind Marinko trying to take him in the next corner as we went into the fast chicane he slowed down ( me to fast ) couldnt do anything contact and ya ( sorry my fault marinko) as i rejoined the track, didnt see any trafic all of a sudden i saw tommy steaming out off the turn wanted to go off the racing line but it was to little to late. Tommy hit the tire wall hitting me and mike hit us to ( sorry mike not your fault) Sorry to tommy to thought i was doing the rite thing but just disaster. Hopefully season 9 is a better one for us all.

Good race. My best result here yet! I wasn't so fast but did minimum mistakes and after few accidents of faster guys and good pit stop I ended on 4th place.

Sam, sorry for being too defensive but I really enjoying my first few laps at the lead.

Andrew it's ok I wanted to let you go before that chicane, but didn't slowdown enough to go off the line. Nothing happen anyway.

Boyd how your engine survived to the end? I went few laps behind you and sometimes I missed my brakepoints because smoke was so heavy:)

Yeah Mike, sorry about that! I couldn't see that much smoke in my mirrors, and I decided I wasn't gonna DNF my very first ever online-race. I was so stoked after qlf'ing 4th, thought I had to go big or limp home. Unfortunately all was for nought, but at least I finished. Had to short shift (really short!) for most of the race.
Next time I will be able to better contest that position ... I hope.
Anyone have ideas on why it overheated so bad, or was it just dumb luck?
I still loved EVERY SECOND! Look forward to the next one.

Boyd if you look at the top/middle of the right side of the garage you will see temps for the outside air, and for the track. If the track is very warm (above 40C) then your tires may get hotter, and wear faster. As air temps warm up, you may need to go test a couple laps to make sure you don't overheat. I had to pump my radiator up to 5 in the garage to keep good cooling for the engine.

I wish GTR2 would make the word "damp" bigger. I couldn't figure out why i was sliding around so much when it had a sun logo....then I saw "damp". Let's hope that it stays dry for next race (as far as qualifying goes).

Great race. Like Greg in qualifing I went out on soft slicks and then get back to pits for intermidiates. In race after some crashes in lap 1 I was on P4. Kinloch was closing in fast. Entering fast shicane I was on the wrong side but in front of Kinloch. Had to brake a litle harder, Kinloch did't expected that and he bump into me. After I returned on the track and after crash I was on P9 and worked my way up to P7. I started the race with lots of fuel so after everybody pited I was 2. Sam was catching up with me. We battled for P2. Sam won. Great pass Sam. After pits I was on P6 and when Bogdan went to pits I ended up on P5 and stayed there until finish.
