F2: Monza

was a fun but bad race for me. In the first 10 laps i had a great battle with wes and james, they were both faster than me but i fought as hard as i could :P was in 2nd place and then looked at my HUD, my rear tyres were at 120c, and i tried to be smoother but ended up spinning. Then rejoined, and with damaged suspension lost it into the 2nd to last corner, taking igor with me, im realy sorry for that. After knowing i had possibly ruined someones race i decided to quit, gratz on the win wes, and to all on the podium!

Quali - 2nd)

After finally getting my med/hard tires up to temp i was able to put in a few fast laps after breaking away from Richie Speed. For some reason we were just playing about with each other for a couple laps was fun though :-)

Race - 3rd)

Formation lap was painfully slow!! Had no chance to build up tire temp/brake temp, I tried backing up the pack to be able to do some hard stops just to generate heat but i have seen people get slammed into the back of and i just didnt want to risk it as i was just desperate to finish!

Sitting waiting at the lights, I was so annoyed how i didnt have my tires up to temp that the red mist sat in, I then began to hear a voice, the voice of Murray Walker in my head screaming 'And their off, its go go go, no wait, Its only Linton who's go go go!! What a fool!!'

My jump start was epic!! Watch the replay, if i was just a .0000000000000000000001 of a second later i would of been perfect! bugger!

I set about trying to pull a gap on the chasing pack to limit the damage caused by the jump start, before diving into the pit at lap 3. On exit i was lying in 9th. I then began pacing myself into a rythmn to find extra consitancy and speed picking off people who had made mistakes. I then got to about 2nd/3rd with a 3 way battle for 2nd. I eventually got up to 2nd and made a break to try chase Wes.

Lap 18. Pitstops!! Smooth fast and clean pitstop. on exit i realised i had a lap less of enough fuel to get me to the finish!! From their i got back up to second before starting my economy drive. It was so frustrating hearing Scott close on my arse but their was little i could do about it. We engaged in combat for the last 6 laps, good close exciting racing. (until he pulled away haha) Last lap i cranked up the boost full tilt to try out run him into the parabolica but i was just too far behind.

However i have pulled two outstanding outbreaking moves!! one from about 11 car lengths back into the T1 and then a block pass (See screenshot) in the second chicane.

Eventually, my first finish and on the podium. Hopefully my season starts here!!

I prepared for a 50 lap race. When I saw it was 36 I changed my pit strategy, but didn't have time to check my engine wear. I barely used my engine...it shows if you watch the replay...I was in 4th, but at the end of the 1st lap I had already lost 2 positions. At first I thought it was fuel load and they were 2 stopping and had lighter fuel loads...then I figured they had boost at 10 and rev limit maxed and were going to toast their engine. But, at about lap 16 I realized that my engine settings were just too low for a 36 lap race.

Fourth is good...almost a podium. Fuji is next...and that is going to be a blast. I barely meet the maximum rank. I placed 6th in formula 1 which placed my rolling rank at 5.030...rounded down that's a 5.0. I hope nobody minds my .030...the next race may be my last Novice race for awhile if I do well at Fuji.

Sorry I missed this one, my PC locked up in practice and then I couldn't get past the password dialog box. I repeatedly entered the p/w, but each time I'd get "Timed Out"!

Good to see Richie Speed (boy, is that kids name right for this hobby!) entered. These incidents will happen Richie, I know the feeling, but that's racing. Think of it this way, by your leaving the race, you may have deprived someone else of some great wheel to wheel racing! That is why were here, right? : )
