F2: Longbeach

Man, talk about mixed emotions.

I was mostly concerned with finishing, keeping the car together and not getting into trouble. I had VERY little seat time in the car, but it felt good, so I decided to go ahead with the race. It didn't work badly, I was actually fairly competitive in practice, and didn't qualify bad at all. I had a lot of fun.

I managed to avoid everything in the race and work up to a comfortable 5th spot, and was running pretty smoothly and consistently in the low-middle 1:05s. Manged to avoid all the contact except my own- I had a lapse in focus and hit the tire wall,losing the front wing and bending the LF suspension up. I limped it around for repairs, but while waiting in my pit the engine overheated and wouldn't refire, so I was out.

Hmm, not one of my better moments. Started from pole but spun it in turn2 and lost the rear wing. Got the pits and had to wait for 150 seconds of repairs. Whilst waiting my engine died (overheated?). End of race .. I suck.

Not sure why the results look like they do- it has me with no qual time and a race best lap of 1:07, both of which are very wrong- but I don't suppose it matters at all :)

My first 1st lap contact :( Sorry Berube...this was my first turn 1 stupid...and plan on not doing it again...I feel terrible...watching the replay I see just how stupid it was. I know it wasn't exactly a punt, but I went in for a stop & go anyway, but couldn't select it, it just gave me tires and fuel...and repaired damage. I came in on lap 5 and tried the stop & go again, but couldn't select it again, so I just did an almost stop at my pit...basically a drive through with a pause to wave at my pit crew...hope that satisfies.

That put me about a lap down as well as a minute behind race leader Barry after just 7 laps. The race was more fun after that. I was chased and passed by Thomas Marcinek and I followed him for several laps then he spun. I think one of the hardest things in these cars is to keep watch for cars that are behind you cause the rear end will loosen up.

Sorry about closing the door on you Peter at the end of my lap 16 (your lap 17)...I didn't expect you to try a pass on the inside of that last hairpin...there wasn't time for me to give you more room. Chalk that up to this being my first time on this track...next time I'm in that situation I'll have to remember to go wide and give a car with more laps more room. Nice pass later that lap BTW.

I haven't really driven the Formula IS cars much, so I hope I can improve a bit for next race. I forgot to check...was parc ferme in effect? Did anyone check to see if they could load a different setup?

On the parc ferme issue- I did notice that tires couldn't be changed, so I'm guessing it locked the whole setup. I think fuel could be adjusted, though- but I didn't try, since I qualified on a full tank.

Nice Q from John for pole. I couldn't do it due to fuel load, mistakes and traffic. Nice lap John

On the start I was to conservative with the LC, I practiced it but when it came time, for some reason I just couldn't keep the throttle mashed. That made it 3 wide into T1,(sorry Scott for the pinch) I backed off early because it was my mistake and wanted to just settle in. I guess it was Steve who outbraked everyone and went real wide.
Ended up behind Scott B for 3rd and was watching the leader to see if we were reeling him in. Was going back and forth.

Had a nice pace with Scott till the pit stop, I peeled off and had no problems. 2 laps later Scott came in. When it was all said and done with the pit, scott was on my a**.
Great time, I made but a minor mistake and scott jumped on it and then slowly walked away.

Nothing much to say. On debut, I set just one goal: to finish the race. And as I predicted that would earn a point or two.
One goal and not done. Serious chain of bad luck (wheel discalibrated and realfeel unbalanced, plus wrong set for qual) and personal pre race, and qual mistakes, led into nervous and stressful race - that ended in pit with overheated engine, whilst waiting for some repairs.
I still think I could do much better... in future maybe. Hope so.

Sorry I finally couldn't make this one. I joined the server in advance and had everything set beforehand to jump straight to race as I had something to do in between (family matters) and knew I didn't have a chance to qualify.

2 minutes before half past I go to the comoputer and... someone else had taken control of it and was making something "important", so I took the less friction path and just ESC the event.

All my practise time is gone... not sure about next one.

I didn't outbrake anyone Dennis...if everyone watches the replay and follows me on the 1st corner at the start they will see the classic stupid maneuver #1. Instead of staying on the line and keeping everything safe and single file through that 1st corner I came inside and tried to sqeeze through. That might work on lap 23 or whatever, but at the start there's nowhere for anyone to go except into each other. I'm lucky it didn't cause a pileup and ruin everyones race behind us. I should get one of Barry's points cause without that damage Scott B probably wouldn't have spun out after a couple more corners and may have taken the top box of the podium

Good time either way.
Could of been much uglier for sure.
