British Grand Prix

45 laps into the race, running in 4th with a big gap behind me and going in for my last pit stop to easily finish up in points and I get my first disconnect in an rfactor race. The absolute worst one I could ever have had. My weekend just got totally shit on.

I took a bit of a dump in qualifying. I went in to pit and was going to come out for my fastest laps and I stalled the car. So, my qual time (while it got me 8th) was not my best. I had done 20.1-20.3s in practices. Oh well, I really wasn't concerned with starting up front. I just wanted to have the safest people behind me possible going into T1. :)

Race, I gave up several spots to start because I really didn't want to get into anything. Kent, I just looked at the replay because when I turned into maggots I was sure that you were behind me and that I was good to go. The image in my mirrors showed most of your car, so I figured I was okay to go. I've posted an image so you can see what I was. I wouldn't have left you so little track like that if I wasn't sure you'd given me the corner. My bad and glad nothing came of it. I politely handed you the position in the following curve. :)

After that I charged through from about 12th up into points somehow. After my early pit stop, I had David Fisher charge up from behind. Assuming I was being lapped, I handed the pass to him on a platter, only to realize afterward he must have gotten into some trouble because he was on the same lap as me! Oh well, it's not like there'd be any purpose in holding you off. I'd just wear my tires out and crash anyways.

Disaster struck in the middle of my second stint when Todd Weiss went off track in T1. I floored it to snatch the spot before he could get back on but he had kept a lot of speed and got back onto track at a reasonable pace. Unfortunately, I didn't consider the fact that his presence would reduce my downforce and I shot off through maggots across the field and into the wall. I limped myself back to pits and lost a dozen or so positions and took about 5 more laps of fuel to make up for the early pit and got back to work.

The rest of the race was pretty exciting and good racing. I slowly picked my way back through the pack. Overtook some people through pits and overtook some through hard work. It was really rewarding feeling to be asserting myself and keeping it under control. I somehow was running in 4th with a good gap and am quite certain that it was a points performance at the least but as I rolled into the pits for my final stop, "DISCONNECTED".

End of story.

I had a really great time at least and definitely did most of my best driving ever there. Look forward to righting this injustice in Spain.

Not a great start to the season for me. I got hit my Allen from behind into turn 1 at the start, which left me back of the pack. Then whilst recovering a few laps later got hit by Kent, another spin. Then a few laps later I hit my team m8 George which left me without a front wing and I had to change it. I was then lapped by some cars after the stop but could run with the cars that had lapped me. That was kind of frustrating because I didnt really feel it was right to overtake them, but at the same time I was being held up. Then on lap 19 I lost it in copse, broken suspension, race over.

That was more fun than I expected. The handling and collision model is surprisingly forgiving. Plenty of good racing mid-pack.
I had a couple of self-spins and got punted once, or I might have finished a couple of spots better.
Sorry to Messrs. Fay and Watson for the contact. I don't think I caused you either any damage but I may have caused sphincter contraction.
I can't be arsed to make setups, but if Tim's hand-me-downs allow this much fun, I will keep running these cars. :)

Well done to the podium, grats to Tim getting back to winning ways, and Vindex already showings early season domination...

Before the quali session came about, i realised i was not able to get the same quali pace i had been getting in prac building up to the race, and had to settle for a miserable spot way down the grid in 15th .. But given the field in this race it looks like anyone could have had a good and bad quali from all the competitive times.

lights went GREEN, and noticed Allen got a wicked start and came up between me and a slower starting Francesco.. Allen unfortunatly got up the back of john D an i had already made up 3 positions going into beckets.

George pol was infront of me, and at bridge did something wrong and went off, so that helped me with another spot..

It seemed that my race then was with either Justin R, Bob F, Francesco Z and Mike W.

p.s BOB, your pass coming back on me was AWESOME!!! well done..

As the race progressed front runners were dropping, and i was changing positions all the time, Francesco was always very close coming out of my 2 scheduled stops, but never close enough to continue mounting a challenge.

John dixon almost took me out twice being 'frustrated' behind me (being a lap down), which was not my fault and i was trying to race bob, and im just soo glad my race wasn't ruined by this driving, i was so nervous with him hassling me, and when he got a good run i let him go, but john you made me stress man!

Bob fay looked to have sealed the deal infront of me, and I was keeping mike waltz close by, and i realised i would probably beat Justin on his pit strat as he wasnt far enough ahead with his strategie...

then the heavens opened up, and i found myself in 4th, Bob fay was behind me but a lap down and i got passed mike waltz somehow... So i took some time to gather myself for the final laps, and to see it through.. and bring home a 4th for the team after darrens unlucky exit from this race.

Wow that was an eventful race for me.

Came out of the FabCar event and jumped on the server with just 7-8 minutes before qual. Tried to get a feel but was no at all comfortable heading into Qual. Result was a pretty sad 11th with only a 21.5.

Got a nice start and made my way up to 8th out of T1, then into the next turn all the sudden Justin was in my side. Justin I understand totally, I am sure you couldn't see me and I had no idea that you were even there. No harm no foul.

But the time we hit the straight I had Bob Fay to my outside and he gave me the turn. Next lap I spun in the esses in wild slide, lucky to keep it off the wall :( 19th now.

Rejoined and quickly caught up to John Dixon and George Pol but spinout again in the chicane. Next lap I was back to John again with Maurice in the mix. Mauric emust have had an issue because he basically parked it, I took the normal race line and John went ot eh inside under hte bridge, but then made an abrupt turn back acrossthe track an into my car. I figure (hope) John was shocked that I was there, but I screwed up 2 turns later and ran into the back of John spinning us both, sorry John.

So still battling at the rear of the field but clearly a lot faster than most of the cars around me, I closed in on Maurice again on the front straight and into T1 he went quite wide, I got passed him into the esses but I guess my speed was too slow since I got rear ended cutting a down down.

After about 3 spins with a flat I made my stop, got tires and fuel and off I went again. LCD showed damage all over hte car and left front was wearing even worse than expected, probably bent suspension.

Basically just drove to finish from there on.

Grats to Tim and Todd and Vindex on a great point day and to Tristan for he second spot on teh podium.

Heinz, I think you are being a little unfair there. I was a lap down due to me having to replace my front wing, but I dont remember any occasion where I nearly took you off. If you watch the replay from my car you will see that I am actually coming off the throttle so as not to overtake you. However at that point I was quicker and so what could I do evertime I get in your slipstream I was all over you, but I didnt do anything stupid.

I had 2 stupid spins in the first 5 laps of the race which meant I was running almost dead last. Not the place I wanted to be in the first race. But I knew a lot could happen during a race and bringing the car home without any further problems would surely get me a decent result. But that all went down the drain when I tried to pass Maurice Claessen on the s/f straight. I had a good speed to make the move before T1 but Maurice forced me towards the pitlane and into the barrier. I still made it first to T1 but way off the raceline only to have Maurice running full into me sending me into the barrier at the end of the runoff zone of T1. That cost me my front wing and meant a long limp back to the pits for a 30 sec repair. Not happy about that move at all and away all changes to still make something out of my race. The car never felt good again after the repairs but I'm happy I made it to the finish in the end. But 14th .... I had really hoped for more.

John .. you bumped me twice!!!!! you were that close! i even checked for rear wing damage the tap was that hard! once you even half spun because of it! I swear i wouldnt have made this comment if it weren't true .. on my side unfortunatly it is!

I can not tell if your frustrated or not actually, but you said it in your post that you were!
