1.5 hours of Russian-Ring

My first offical race here in 6 months, and i think it went ok. When i got on the server and saw the lap times I nearly crapped my pants. This was a fairly quick field. I had a very poor qualifying in which i crashed my car trying to up my best lap. The race went a lot better, my car was a bit too free a the back, which hurt my corner exits. but i did run many laps faster than my qualifying effort.

I was not expecting to do a one stop race, but i soon realized my only shot at a good finish was to do it, and i had just enough fuel in the car to make it work. But Chen managed to just beat me when he came out of the pits. I tried to ruffle his feathers on cold tires, but all i did was ruin my rears. because of that i lost 4th to Dennis, but he's my teammate, not a big deal.

all in all, i had a decent race with only myself to blame for the inccidents i had.

I was pretty disappointed with that race. Thought I had a pace that could at least compete with Tristan today, but I learned pretty quickly that I had nothing for him, despite running consistent low 34s in practice last night. So with nothing much to lose really, I switched my strategy in-race, to a one stopper just for shits and giggles. About 25 laps in, I noticed I had no chance at that after I spun right in front pit lane with no wear bars on the rears. The car just was not setup for it...too much rear weight bias. I needed something more balanced but I was stuck with what I had.

So with that out the door, I lost even more ground to Tristan because my strategy was all screwed up. Spent the rest of the race just trying to keep it on the track and waiting for the checkered flag to come. Kinda surprised I still finished on the lead lap...barely.

This track is pretty fun and I usually enjoy the technical ones, but poor planning and an inconsistent pace kicked my ass in the early going. Oh well...cya guys at BH.

I'm pretty happy to have found some pace back, did put a fair few laps in for this one. Still managed to screw up and have my race screwed up, but I don't mind that so much compared to being dead slow!

Had a good pace battle with Barry early on, credit to him for steering away from my car instead of trying to stay on track when he missed a braking point into the hairpin and costing himself a lot of time in doing so. Gave me a huge fright when you flew by though, hadn't spotted you coming in the mirrors!

Unfortunately the second driver to miss their marker following me through there couldn't manage the same and I got punted off track, down to 10th for me.

Somehow got back up into 5th and came into the pits for the first stop. Drove back onto track...wow, the car felt great. Three laps later I was wishing I had a handbrake, just got more and more understeer throughout the stint.

Pitting for the second time I spotted that I'd accidentally put soft fronts on and burned them out. In the rush to fix that, I told my confused pit crew not to change one of the tyres, so had to make two stops in two laps, putting me back out of contention.

Late on Barry emerged from the pits just in front of me and we had a great race to the finish. I didn't have enough speed to make any kind of move but I could push him hard...thanks for turning the last 20 mins from a lonely trek into a very exciting finish Barry, in particular that was a very focussing moment when we both flew past 1-stopping John!

my previous (and the first) race whit fabcar was superb, but yesterday I couldn't keep tire temps below 125ºC, and maybe this is too hot in soft tires. I don't know how stock tires works and I don't know why in sebring my strategy (and the usual for all drivers) was 2 pit stops in soft tires (maybe tire wear?)

I need to train and learn more about this mod

Pablo, I checked the server replay and your car is about 1 foot to the left of where it was in my replay, and you missed me because of that difference. Not your fault if my game decides to throw me off track, so no apology needed :)

Fun track, really enjoyed it. Dennis kept me honest through the whole race, gap was never more than 3-6 seconds back. Really had to concentrate and drive a clean race and make no mistakes.

I figured out Banta was on a one stopper since he didn't pit until half way through my 2nd stint. So right before the final stop, I was checking the splits and saw that it would be close. I decreased the amount of fuel to fill up (strategy had a little wiggle room, and my mileage in race was better than practice). Those couple seconds I saved in taking on less gas made the difference, as I nosed into turn 1 just as Banta entered the braking zone. Tried my damnedest to keep him beind on cold tires, and managed to hold on through the infield.

Have to apologize to Dwayne, I made a bit of a hairy/agressive pass on the infield there in the last stint. Dwayne, I know you meant well, but please don't change your line when letting us pass. It freaked me out because I had to do an inside out maneuver on to the grass to avoid punting you when you came down to the inside line where I was already headed. Other than that stomach in my throat moment, the other times you did a great job.

What I do, whenever Tristan is coming up behind me at mach 10, ;) is to stay on the racing line on the straight as I come out of the corner under normal acceleration, then flash my lights. As soon as he sees me flash my lights, he moves out from behind me and into the inside line. As soon as I see that he is no longer nose to tail with me, I breathe the throttle to about 75%. He powers through, and I say "holy sh!t he's fast!" ;)
