GTx: Anderstorp

Suprised myself with pole and a track record, but thats about where the enjoyment ended.
Into turn 2 I was leading by about 5 carlengths, broke where I needed to on cold brakes, then heard the sound of a Ferrari screaming as Ari tried to slow it with the gears, presumably forgetting about his cold brakes. I saw him coming in the mirrors but there was absolutely nowhere I could go to get out of his way. I ran wide to see if he'd hit the throttle and send himself into the gravel but instead he locked the brakes and sent me to the beach instead... sigh. Obviously not intentional but a suprising lapse in judgement from a usually very good driver. I rejoined the track as safely as I could on the outside of turn 3, then followed Janko down the inside of Sam into turn 4. Unfortunatley Janko slowed down a little more than I expected and I had to brake hard not to hit him, this sent me up the track a little towards Sam. As my screenshot shows, I managed to save actually hitting him, but GTR2 netcode warp spun him out anyway. After a lap I was given a penalty for this and I was so frustrated with my shit awful luck that I called it a day there.

A real shame because I was just doing this race for a bit of fun, and I was really hoping to get to 100 wins before 50 DNFs, so I was really just looking for a good race and a finish... not to be :-(

I had one of the worst DNF in my career over a decade, lol.

I had a good qualify and was p4 or p5 on the grid. When the server switched to the race session, i saved my setup and instead of asking to overwrite the old setup, it asked me to leave the room, and all automatic i clicked OK and it LEFT.. OMG!

So frustrating, more frustrating than wrecking the car yourself lmao. Sorry guys, hope you had a great race and see you next round!

3 mins from the end and I screw up a downshift! BOLLOCKS!!

Apologies to Sam Krueger who I unintentionaly punted late in the race, as far as I could tell I thought I'd missed you. Apparently I hadn't.

Qual went as well as I could hope... dunno what it is with GTR2 but I just can't seem to go as fast with it as I can in rFactor and Race '07... bummer.

Had some brilliant fights after the initial first lap madness when I found myself somehow upto 7th or 8th. Pete Bunce was one fight in particular that I remember being quite fun.

I didn't really have a strategy as such... I just tried to break the race into a 45minute section and a 30 minute section. When I saw 2nd on my pitboard at one stage I almost drove straight off the track!

Made a few too many errors and one big one at the end that blew my engine.

Ho-hum.

I got lucky and found myself in second after T3 and was somehow faster than everyone else. Easy win throw out the window and then a top 5 as well.

Closing in on my pit stop I was really slow with front left almost ready to pop and I got all wrapped up in that and pitted early...DOH!

Okay well I am leading by 12 seconds after the stops and I realize I dont have enough fuel due to stopping early. So I start short shifting more and more and somehow manage to hold the gap to Janko. But it is still clear that I wont make it on fuel.

Then coming off the tight left at the walkover bridge I break the rear loose and almost save it but didn't lost my 12 second lead right there then I make a mistake heading to the front straight and Janko gets the easy pass and win.

All I am thinking now is....how many places will I lose getting 3 laps of fuel? 4...finished 6th after leading for 70 minutes! Argh.

Grats to Janko on the win and the few that managed to finish.

Apologies to the lead lap cars for not moving right away. Just before pit I had this weird sound delay problem. It was like a half a second delay. It really screwed up my driving, so after the pit stop I turned the volume all the way down and drove with no sound.

I didnt realize lead lap cars were behind me until I saw the blue flag. So my apologizes there. My games runs fine in offline mode but I think it was something to do with the server.

Never had this problem before.

After a terrible qualifying try, I cant complain finishing in the Top 10. Congrats to the winnner.

Ari's bad braking point made me go wide no to be the third car in the mixup in T2. I tried to rejoin the pack when someone hit me very hard. After that I started gaining positions and got behind Tolga. He run wide in the grass but did not made it easy for me in T5 and I run into the sand trap not to hit him. Somehow I got back to the track and when I got again behind Tolga he run wide in the last corner and on the acceleration hit hit me from the left and that pushed me into the hard concrete wall. Aero was terrible. Anyway pitted and was running on 17th I believe when my electricity went off - looked outside it was a big storm :)
So even if I'd be at he top I couldn't have done anything about the weather.

Too bad good drivers didn't make it stick.

Bloody hell.. Got punted twice and on top of that i took a stop&go at the pitstops. Not my race i guess... :|

Well , didn't prepare for this one since it was looking like i will not get in , once i realized i'm in i noticed that i didn't have a setup :o. Used the qualifying to evaluate a set and it wasn't bad after all but my starting position was way down.
Had the incident with Scott in 1st lap and got beached for what felt like forever (damned Anderstorp gravel , they really need to smooth those a bit more :|) , then fight my way back to around P15 before pitting and took a silly stop&go.
Then late at the race had another incident with Jon this time while we were fighting for the 11th place i think. BTW.. No problems Jon , thanks for waiting and giving the place back... that was really nice thing to do and it told me that you were sorry and really meant that.

Dunno then , maybe i was lagging or sumthing since both you and Scott said the same thing , but i was having some close racing with few others and didn't have probs there... ah well , bad luck and a race to forget. Sorry for the team for another crappy result , should have run this as an independent driver again.. :|

Well , thanks for the race anyway , tough one this time. Congratulations to top 3 and other survivors :) .

Krue, who cares? It's a game play it and enjoy it, ranks are meaningless anyway with car restrictions in place. From what I have seen the last month or so is teams rising to the top of the ranks and when you look at there recent results they ran in events without a restricted car.

I know, I know that isn't the case for everyone :)
