Donington 170k

Fun race. Couldn't make my mind up what car to go with before qualifying, but when Matjaz popped in a low 1:30 at the end of practice I decided to give him a run for his money in the BMW again.
Qually didn't go well, I managed to catch traffic in all the wrong places again, finally got one decent lap in at the end. The lap wasn't perfect but it was good enough.
The first half went pretty well, I gapped Matjaz and held a comfortable pace to keep him 3-4 seconds behind, I was fueled up so there was no reason for my pitstop to be longer than his so I was confident that things wouldn't change and I'd be able to keep that gap. Of course my pitstop did take longer than his, by 5 seconds, so I came out of the pits in 2nd, which was slightly annoying but I guess its my own fault as I still haven't mapped an ignition button. I had to put my head down and knock out some quick times, managed to set a few 1:30.0's which helped me catch him, then he made a mistake in the chicane and I made the pass into the Melbourne hairpin. From then on I couldn't catch a break in traffic, I had half a second on Matjaz every lap but everytime I got a gap I seemed to catch Gregg Mulgrew making a haulix of the chicane! It was very frustrating but Matjaz never got close enough to make a pass so I was able to take the win, although I had less than a litre of fuel left at the end which made the last lap very tense!

Couple of extra points, firstly sorry to the owner of the yellow Porsche I spun out in qualifying (either George or Gregg). I thought you had enough of a gap on me that I could make the pass after the corner but I completely misjudged the speed difference between our cars and just ran over you, totally my fault, I hope it didn't screw you up too badly. Secondly, please lapped cars keep to the racing line. I almost crashed into a Z3 near the end of the race who decided it would be a good idea to stay left out of the "Old Hairpin" (the second corner you have to slow down for) which was the exact spot I was going to pass you on, that was almost a very big mess. There were a few more close moments like that which are totally unnecessary. Next time let the faster car do the work ;-)

Finally managed qually without a disco, then cocked it up all by myself by forgetting to take the race fuel out! With 100L on board, my lap was respectable.
Cocked up again for the race (must be the large numbers of pain-killers consumed recently!) - saw the temps were HOT but still didn't think to open up the rad. Having chased George hard for the first 10 laps I was informed my engine was overheating and while I pondered that, I forgot to turn right at the Old Hairpin.DOH!
Not much I could do after that but back off and save the motor. Just made it to the end, but by that point it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding!

Sorry Scott, I was the Z3 that almost wrecked your race in the closing laps. I completly miscalculated your closing speed. Totally my fault. Im glad it turned out OK. I will be more carefull next time.

A bit of a boring race.
Dont know why so many guys didnt pitch up for g2, and not happy either. Had a few scraps with Aaron and cristi. And if i must say raced very cleanly and respectfully. Good luck Scott and George. :)

Decent race for me but I had no weapon against Scott who's acceleration out of the corners was just better than mine. I was a bit quicker under braking, especially at the slow chicane but that was not enough to put serious pressure on him so it was just a matter of time when Scott will retake his lead after losing it in the pits. I decided to lift it big time in the last lap after some very nice battle in front of me for 7th place that I didn't want to ruin with my lapping. Other than that it was a nice race with good behaviour from all drivers.

Disco on lap 2 , perfect result and another well deserved DNF... Couldn't be happier... :|

Lack of focus in the second stint caused me to run wide and hit the wall from a comfortable lead, resulting in a puncture. On the last lap I passed Conduruta who was saving fuel.

A decent result for me, qualified at the back of the G2 field, wondered if I would stay in front of the G3 front runners and was able to. Early on came up on a G3 Porsche that may have been lapped, and after overtaking I spun in front of him, hope that didn't cause any damage.

Just tried to be consistent throughout the run, made my stop, and thankfully restarted the car after service to resume! (I had a mapping problem for the G2 race this week and had to retire). Leaving the pits a G3 BMW flew right by me close, luckily we missed but I should have been more careful, sorry.

Found myself 10th after the stop and caught and passed two G3 cars to regain 8th position and then caught Aaron for 7th place on the last lap. Seemed like he was having problems and we approached the chicane with Matjaz behind. Aaron the overshot the chicane and I just held my line as normal and got by. Felt a bit like I should have been letting Matjaz go by instead, but I guess that's a tough call on the last lap, and it sounds like it didn't hamper the outcome, so we'll take it.

After a decent start I was hammering down on Van der Spuy with Cristi hot on our tale.

I snapped it loose going over that bump just before turn 1.
Loosing ground on Van der spuy. Sry Cristi, I know you had no were to go but into my door and I hope you didnt get any damage, my car was fine, I just slide off track for a few.

I decided to gamble and take no tires, to try and get some position back from my run off, that was a bad mistake as the car was so unresponsive once the tires got down, and I ended up in the dirt a few more times. I lost more time not taking tires than doing a complete stop.

I got the tires worn warning with about 9 minutes left in the race and was paincing hard. The last few laps, I saw that Sean was closing in fast. I tried like a bastard to keep the position.

That last lap the tires actually wore out completely on rear with not much left on the front. I seen Sean and Matjaz in the mirror I said screw it and gave her some. I did my best to hold the inside line but I over shot that chicane.

After that I didnt have much of a chance, thanks for not runing me over Sean and Matjaz.

Sry Matjaz I wasnt trying to block you, I just knew if I let you by Sean would have my ass, which he did anyway lol.
