USA G2: Hockenheim

i had a issue with my connection tonight.by the time i got it worked out, the race had started. sorry i could'nt make it

A driver was penalized a lap for a first-lap punt drive through that went unserved

Well,what if.Started 10th,got turned around in t1 lap1,back to last.In the closing laps,running 8th and noticed at least 4 cars in front struggling for grip,just not enough laps.Actually finished 7th after Garret blew the final turn and a penalty put me in 6th.

This was a long race for the G2's, Congrats to Barry on the win, and Tomo bringing home a MOB APR 2nd and 3rd with me..

quali went well, got a PB during the run and it actually tied me and Steve for the front row .. I wasn't sure if Steve could go faster, but i pulled into pits for a new set of boots and less fuel and tried to have a final go incase Steve put one up on me..
Steve did go faster, but i couldnt, so front row in 2nd was good enough for me..

Start of the race was not really that good, I had to yield for Barry who had gotten his M3 infront of me and didnt want any contact, this also allowed Tomo with a good run on me into T2..

down to 4th now I had Mark Carty pushing really hard, but was not about to let another spot go, and I knew after a few laps i had to get passed Tomo as i felt i was being held up slightly and Steve and Barry were gaining time on me, I asked tomo on the radio for help and he let me through, and then i started a charge on barry and Steve..

this charge also completely destroyed my tyres, but also got the fastest lap of the race, not even half way into the race and my front left was worn by half already, so knew the race was going to be hard last 10 laps.

I had done well to catch and start hassling Barry for 2nd when Steve paused on track and realised that was a CTD, unlucky dude!

Then it was even more pressure on barry for aslong as i could maintain it, was very close and tight, but i didnt have any good corner or straight line speed to find a chance to pass..

then I lost sight of everyone on my screen, and backed off a little as if it came back didnt want to end up in the rear of barry or something..
When barry came back he was ahead enough for me to start relaxing and nurse the car home, i had a 25 second gap to 3rd.

spun out on the penultimate lap, and the gap was down to 12 seconds, but brought it home

That was an interesting race, had some good battles along the way and found myself in 3rd place, tires were toast but so were everyones. I was pretty happy to settle for 3rd in the Seat with just 7 mins left and then spontaneous combustion -- engine just exploded, no idea why, Motec was at 87% half a lap ago.

Very strange, oh well, congrats to Podium.

No kidding; that sucked beans!

On the other hand, my extreme S8 curse/DNF percentage is a mighty thing to behold. Between engine immolations (cured by using GTR-XD) and computer glitches , I can hardly seem to finish anything at all. At least this one was different; not a disco like the last G2 outing, but a total game freeze. Couldn't alt-tab or anything - had to hit the PC reset button to get it unstuck. Weird since my box is very mainstream and basic, no overclocking or beta drivers anywhere to be found and little background stuff running (nothing new, for sure).

Was going OK up to then. As often the case in the evenings, I was off my morning offline times, but had a tenuous lead nonetheless. After getting clear of what looked like a good fight behind, Barry & Heinz weren't far back and were right there on pace. But they were racing each other, and I was counting on that for help. I was in tire conserving mode at the time of my exit, since I figured whoever had the best grip in the last 3rd of the race would be in good shape.

Glad my freeze didn't cause any problems for Barry or Heinz, and wish I'd been around to see how it would've turned out. Grat to the podium.

This was one hairy race. I got my first "Tires getting very worn" warning ever last night, and lemme tell ya...that is not a comforting thing to hear when you've got 3 faster cars behind you with 5 minutes to go!

Qualifying went well, I found a better pace than in previous practices, good enough for 6th. My start was very good, and I was in 3rd by the time we reached turn 2. I knew I was on hards and woulnd't be as fast, so I just did the best I could. Heinz wanted by after about 3 laps, and I gladly went around the outside of a corner to make room. As expected, he drove off, and I continued to hold everyone else up :p

I was on full defensive mod for the entire race, which is definately the slowest way to race. I felt pretty bad, actually, being so much slower than everyone else and not just letting them by. But it is racing.

The 20 minute to go mark came with a surprise; a tires worn warning. I would go on to get 3 more and a "very worn" warning as well. After all kinds of happenings, I was in 4th with 5th-7th right on my bumper; I was holding them all up, driving defensively 100% of the time. Something happened to 6th and 7th, and it was just me and John Mueller for the last bit. Garret came out of no where in the last lap and actually passed me in the last corner. But I either got tapped or the car broke loose suddenly, and I got into Garret, putting him around and John and some lapped cars straight into my back bumper. I got launched back up to speed and finished in 4th (now 3rd I see?) wobbling across the line in my poor little Seat.

Great job Barry. You out-conserved all of us, I think :) And grat's to everyone everyone else that finished; that's enough for a congrats in itself.

I qualy'd poor for this one and I don't know why. I started back in the pack but suprisingly found myself in 7th at the end of lap 1. From there, Rob A and I fought and battled up to 3rd and 4th. When continued our battled for about 15min changing between 3rd and 4th places. Right on Rob's tail heading into T2, John M came from way back and spun me exiting the corner. I suffered some suspension damage and headed into the pits in 7th.

I came out in 13th and fought my way back up to John M and TomO on the last lap fighting for 4th. I passed John when he was held up by a lapped car and caught TomO in the Arena for 4th (3rd ultimately) and passed him. In the last corner, TomO hit me and spun me around. I got hit by a couple of cars after that(see screenshot) and went airborn. With two flats at the rear, I Lighting McQueened my way to the finish in 7th.

Congrats Barry, well deserved!

Two drivers penalized for punting. Please double check the standings as it may have changed the people who have to deal with car-restrictions.

Wow, that was unexpected, and has moved me into 3rd for the race, and 11th for the series, a nice suprise.
One question though, although my standings in this series have been corrected ie. I have a T3 recorded, the same has not happened to my personal page, (still showing 0 in my T3 column). I assume this would effect my driver rank also? Correct me if I am wrong.
Finally I get a go at holding the big funny bottle of champagne and spraying it all over the oh so lovely grid girls!
