FIS [Novice]

Nice Q and race Michael.
Pace a bit much for me, was running second, and allmost
3rd except for a few mistakes by Dany. Heck of a pace
both of you. Was hoping to hold off Dany to take a second,
made a mistake and beached on the curb.......Blew an engine
Good time though,I like battling for the last few tenths.

Congrats to Michael and all who finished, these cars aren't the easiest to drive quickly.

Short race for me. Got hung up on a curb after over doing it.

Was quite a different experience seeing 3rd and 4th up ahead and slowly gaining on them. I'm used to seeing these positions go flying by as they lap me! LoL

As for me it's first race on r2p, first race on FIS class.
Hope leaders of race are not angry on me. Especialy for lap 19 incident...
I liked to strugle with Pete for 4-th position. :)
This cars are too fast for me now, but i had good expirience of racing. I've finished, and that is important for now.

Well, that was a very interesting race. I found I really like these cars. I'm not the fastest out there, for sure, but there's something really rewarding about driving these things precisely.

I wasn't worried about being very competitive in this race. Just wanted to be somewhere in the pace of the pack. And I wanted *NO* DNF. I acheived both of those goals, but with a couple notable setbacks.

I Q'd a couple secs behind pole. Had a poor launch since I wasn't comfortable yet with laying down the power from a dead start in these cars. Gave up a couple spots for the first few turns to the more ambitious drivers, but watched as folks overdrove as a result. More or less held my own after that. Around lap 2, however, I was following behind somebody (and trying to stay a safe distance back) who was struggling with control in the curves. He went off in the final esses before the back straight, and veered back onto the track and speared right into me, knocking us both off the pavement. I smacked the wall and lost my front wing and suffered negligible suspension damage. Limped back to the pit, and spent over a minute (more than a lap at that) getting repairs. Engine started to overheat as I pulled out, but I forgot the limiter and earned a drivethrough for speeding. Fortunately, the extra speed cooled the engine back down, so the penalty was worth keeping my engine from blowing. Being a lap down and losing more time was still a better tradeoff than a DNF.

After that I ran a 'fairly' consistent pace for a first time F1. Had a number of self spins, but never had any contact again after that. Had some difficulty racing with traffic. Not because of drivers, but because things happen so much more quickly in these cars. Somewhere around the last lap or two, somebody rear ended me under braking in the last corner and they spun as a result. No trouble for me, and I took some yellow damage with no handling loss. Finished 5 laps down, but brought it home in largely driveable condition.

Big time fun. Would love to drive these some more. Looking forward to the Novice Champ Car race here next. What a fun track for fast cars!
