Spa 500k

Engine blew up with about 45 min left in the race. Was running 2nd at the time and with a pit stop left in the race, i had a chance to grab a piece of the podium. The engine was borderline overheating for much of the race so i guess i can't be too surprised but i am disappointed. Just one more race with this god damn car and game...

Last race of the S3 GT-O and nGT title at stake - no pressure at all. Yeah right. LOL

I finally got the setup right and car felt good by my standards. I was balancing between one or two stops but as temps were up I put med-meds and full tank and figured to see how long it'll last. Tim, Barry and Crazy-Steve sailed into sunset but I just tried to concentrate on my own race. Managed a bit over halfway with first tank and tyres so took same set and they worked OK for the rest of the race too. I had max aero to maximize finishing the race but I don't think I would have been much quicker with less wing.

It's been a long season. I wish to thank Tim, Barry-san & co. for being worthy opponents (although a bit too quick from time to time :) ) Thank you all fellow racers - it has been a real pleasure to race with you. Thank you R2P for setting this up.

Hurrying home: "Honeeey, I won, I won! Can I get some of the prize you promised now?" ;)

I finished. It was a mostly uneventful race, only a couple of very minor offs, one not of my own doing. But nothing that damaged the car. I think the hardest part is sitting in this chair for 3 hours straight, though I did run off for a pit stop of my own with I pitted the car. Came back, got settled in and my car was rolling, by itself, down the pit lane, heheh, it was half-way to the white line when I put it in gear and got going. No parking brake, car in neutral, pit crew goes away and let it roll down the sloping pit lane. Funny.

One more S3 race to go, in GT-I, then away with GTR! And on with GTR2, WTCC, RBR, GTL and maybe rFactor.

Just as well, the car felt like it was dragging a huge weight behind me. My lap times were way off what I've done here before. I was getting full pedel movement and breaks were'nt dragging so don't have a clue why (speed bug in reverse?)

I am very glad to see my last race in GTR. I just never could come to grips with this sim. Bring on GTR2 - V8 Supercars :- )

Congrats to Jeff and Tim for their wins and to all the guys for some fun (and not so fun) races this last year.

Conor, sorry to see you had another motor grenade on you today. Would of been nice for at least one LAVM car to have finished.

I don't want to forget to thank Tim and Todd for their hard work in putting on these great series, THANKS GUYS!

WOW! What a fun race! I didnt think that I had the speed for Tim or Barry, so I planned a 1 stop strategy with maybe the need for a splash and go near the end. Stupid me, I told Tim my strategy and he decided on the same. Oh well ;). Qualified third with my best lap ever, but still well off the pace of Barry and Tim. Race started and Tim leading with Barry adn me following pretty much nose to tail for 14 or so laps. Then Barry had an off. I worked my way upto Tim's rear bumper and stayed there until the first stop. Both Tim and I pitted at the same time, and left the pits at the same time. So Tim and I played follow the leader again for another 45 minutes or so, with Tim leading. That's right, we were nose to tail for a good 2 hours solid. It was AWESOME! Tim, finally spun in the bus stop in the last half hour or so, and I took the lead. Well, crunching the numbers I realized I was going to be VERY VERY close on fuel. I decided to gamble and run to the end. I slowed down, way down. Tim was running on worn tires, and I was running on fumes. I was hoping the GT1 leader would get around Tim near the end of the race, which would allow me to slow and let the GT1 leader by me, thereby giving me the win so I wouldnt have to run another lap (I was litterally on fumes). Well Tim wouldnt let the GT1 leader lap him ;), so I waited at the finish line as long as I could, saw Tim come around La Source, and I had to gas it, FINAL LAP!!!! I had 3 liters of gas in the tank, and it takes 2.8 liters to do one lap. Car was stupid loose on such low fuel and it bit me going into Rivage. I had a slow lazy spin and watched Tim drive by. BUGGER! Lost the lead on the last lap. I got going again, and caught up to TIm as he had an off in turn 14; I had another chance!!, I was right on his bumper going into the bus stop and was going to make my move and dangit if I didnt spin in the bus stop!!! I just ran 2 hours 45 minutes without a spin and now I have 2 spinsin 45 seconds!!! (and on the last lap no less) AHHHH!! Finished the race with the fuel meter reading ZERO as I crossed the line in second. WHAT AN AMZAING 3 HOURS!! I had a complete blast the entire race. The battle with Tim was spectactular, including the last lap. So much fun!! And all of that fun is due to each and every one of you guys on track - I truely enjoy racing with each each of you.

Mucho CONGRATS to Jeff S with his win and taking the GT1 championship by the hair of his chinny chin chin. Craig, you made Jeff work for it - great drive this season bud! And FINN!! AWESOME job taking the GT2 championship in the Morgan!! Truely a great drive the entire season Finn!

Now, if I can only take some of this good result with me to the GT-I race next Saturday............

Whoa, getting to be a bit like Craig with my novel length Post Race report ;-)

Well, going into this race with a 2 point deficit to Craig & the championship I knew I needed the pole and at least a second place finish, I couldn’t find the pace during qualifying and had to settle for second on the grid. At this point I knew only a win and a 3rd by Craig will be good enough for the championship, The race starts with a damp track, I pace craig for the first 8 laps keeping inside of 3 seconds and he looped it after the 180, I flew by him and I don’t think I lifted until the bus stop, I couldn’t find any other way to put space between us, from there on out it was a management of lap times and Milan kept me honest by holding me to a 22 second margin without the ability for any of my brain fades, I watched my fuel mileage and with some well times passes of GT2 cars, summery, my race went well, I did what I needed to get done and I am quite satisfied with the result.

This is the Jeff awards…corny with a shot of grey goose but here it goes…

Where to begin? How about the important stuff first?

Congrats to Jeff S for the title. 2 seasons and the man collects hardware in both. This man thought racing sims were mere video games up until I strong armed him into getting with us and look at him now. He gets a taste, has some success and now is a hopless addict like the rest of us. He gets a high end computer for the sim, he builds racing seats, he practices during what would be third shift work hours, and constantly strives to get better. He goes on ebay and snaps up every MS steering wheel. Now, he's hoping Santa brings him an ECCI. Throughout the season he battled Craig, and with his dedication and just pure talent, Jeff's transformation into a sim racer is complete. Way to go, Champ.

The rest of the open field deserves major recognition as well. The GT1 field has drivers who are a genuine threat to win, place or show every time out. Conor with that Dodge is always very tough, Dave Pike and Craig are out of this world with the Lambo, and Milan is a magician w/ his Dodge. The GT2 drivers are very tough as well and the battle between Tim and Finn during the season has been a pleasure to behold. Gentlemen, I learned so much watching you guys do that voodoo that you do so well.

Spa? What a bitch! Just when I think I have some things figured out, she throws more curves at me. In S2, she teased me w/ grenading my motor in the open and the invite w/ mere minutes to go. So, during practice this year, I adjusted my setup to avoid a repeat. Coming into this race, I had developed 2 setups. One for good weather - low down force and very fast - and one for lousy weather - high downforce and very stable. Because warmup and recon were crappy weather, I chose the high downforce setup and used slicks. Of course, the race weather turned out to be better suited for the faster setup.

So what happens? Conor leaves me in the dirt and the track dries out. Would have bet the mortgage the track would get wetter but no, it dries out. Got up to third but couldnt hold it because of fuel. Second stint was notable for me in that after Conor, who was in second at the time, put me a lap down and later in the run, I was able to catch him and unlap myself. For me, this a major accomplishment. Conor has always been able to blow me away. So to be able to catch up to him and unlap myself is a huge confidence booster and perhaps a sign that I am improving some. After all, in S1, HRH, in his Marlboro Porsche lapped me. The rest of the race came down to trying to chase Craig but I never could get close enough. Not that it matters, but I was a little perturbed to find that I finished a lap down from Craig. My HUD counter never indicated I was down a lap from the 3rd place car but whatever.

My apologies to Chip who I contacted and knocked off the track. I came into the corner real hot and didnt realize you were at the bottom of it until it was too late.

Thanks to all the drivers for showing up each and every week. For those that didnt, I hope you reconsider for S4; w/ Tim, Finn, Jeff, Craig, et al there are some very fast guys here and it is very competitive and very clean field. Thanks to HRH for making the series happen.

Oh well, season is finished.

My race was a solid one. Started 3rd and giong behind Craig and Jeff during first stint. Then Craig had a spin and before my first stop I gained second pos. But in stop we had some bug situation. Because we (Craig and me) shared same garage. And Craig waiting me to work out my stop.
Unfortunally we had same situation on our last stop (on 54th laps), but now I've been waiting man :). Man we had similar strategy in different way :).
That lost seconds on my last stop back me 25+ seconds behind Jeff and race looking over.
But on penultimate lap I had spin in bus-stop chicane and slightly touched wall, that causing my tyre puncture, and luckily pits were near and I managed extra stop just for punctured tyres in last lap. :):):)
im satisfied with 2nd place and with these couple races here in GT-O S3 seasone. Good bye GTR.
Thanks to Tim and Todd and all comunity R2P, and I will back with GTL and of cours GTR2 when upgrade my machine and buy the game.
