My apologies to the driver I smacked re-entering. When I checked no one was there. But I should have stopped.

I got tapped by a leader lapping me and that inadvertently threw me into his passing lane.

Severe damage but I limped around after a pit stop. Now I will go mope for a little while.

As another Limo driver, I'll emphasize that the visibility in these things is terrible. The side mirrors are tall and narrow... very limited field of view. And no, virtual mirror doesn't help with the FOV in back... not enough at least. So, while it's up to us drivers to safely re-enter, I'm asking those approaching to practice a bit more caution as well when closing. Just keep aware that we may not be able to see, even if we're trying. It's just a bad combination with the mismatch between these cars.

And while I'm at it. I hate to bring up lapping again, but I think there needs to be another reminder.

Given the huge speed difference between the V8's and the MkII's, it's plainly obvious after tonight that lapping will happen often. I saw the leaders come around me 3 times. That's pretty bloody fast. But that's not the issue. That's to be expected given the car choices.

Now, I'm not criticizing the field here. In fact, I felt that for the majority, most lapping drivers did so appropriately and courteously. Thank you to all who did. I'm referring to one incident.

Please... when you're closing with a slower car, don't run up on their bumper at the entrance to a corner and flash your lights. I take that to mean you're charging through and I better watch out. We know you're closing... and fast. Wait for us to clear the corner before you initiate your pass. We won't fight you. I personally (and I think other do as well) will flash my headlights to notify the car attempting to lap me that I am prepared to allow the pass. We'll keep to our line as mandated in the rules so we're predictable for you. It's *your* job to make the pass happen. Not ours. And it's your job to do it cleanly. After all, you clearly have the torque advantage. You'll pull away at the corner exit with ease. In a few minutes, we'll do it again when you lap once more.

It was an interesting race. I took the 1 point MkI Jag and felt like I was driving Miss Daisy the whole race! This thing felt like a luxury sedan and seemed to drive like one too. It felt slow and not too responsive, and had almost NO "get-up-and-go". I suppose it is to be expected for a 1 point car. :-)

The race was pretty clean - I only went off 2 or 3 times with minimal damage. Congrats to Rick who not only passed all the rest of us 1 point Jags, but also one of the 4 point Jags!

Shortly after I got lapped for the first time by the leader, I was following him into the last turn before the start finish line and figured his race was over! He smacked the wall, went sideways, and almost flipped over, but man, that car kept running and came back to pass me again shortly afterwards! What a tank!

Everyone who lapped me (many of you three times) did so very courteously and safely. In almost every case, I stayed on my line and tried to give plenty of room, and that seemed to work well. One time I gave up the preferred line to let someone pass, and that worked ok too. Thanks to everyone for lapping me safely and planning it well. Hopefully I can return the favor at the next race when I have more points than you! Hahaha!

I think the next time I drive this Mk1 Jag, I'm going to have to pull up beside one of you guys, roll down the window, lean out and say, "Grey Poupon?" You older guys should get it. :-)

Yeah I nailed that wall good!

Mike M. beat me at the start, but I was on his butt the whole way around. Entering Woodcote I went to the outside but braked just a hair too late and spun.
I rejoined 7th, and was up to 2nd in a few laps. Mike was 10 sec clear, but he had a couple of bobbles and I was able to repass and get about 10 sec ahead of him.
Then on lap 12, my idiot flatmate walked in, turned on the lights, and just about blinded me. That's when I hit the wall at the chicane. Fortunately the car was fine. Maybe they are simulating the foam walls they use at the Revival?

In any case, the car was fast, and I chased Mike down again, but this time he made me work for it. I finally got him and was able to take the win. Hats off to Mike and especially to the Jag drivers who were quite courteous.

What an incredibly fun time and thank you again to all for welcoming here mid season like this.
I have always had a lot of affection for Goodwood, although I am not sure exactly why, and driving it around in the Jag (Miss Daisy, lol) proved to be very interesting indeed. I put in a lot of laps of practice to try to come to grips with her handling, tweaking things here and there, but to tell you the truth I was very surprised I was able to dip into the 38s & 39s. My number one aim in the race was to be mistake free and I think I managed, and being predictable in being lapped. Speed difference is huge so that was really the biggest challange.

That was fun. During practice I was dipping into the 31's on a reg basis. Come race night, I got there once. The 2 Mikes where in the 30's and 29's. I qual'd 4th with a high 32 lap.
Had trouble seeing the start lights, they where smack dab in the a pillar of my car. I was afraid if I moved back, I would get dq'd, so I waited for the 2 Mikes to take off. I came out of t2 in 3rd and stayed in that position till I made a slow lazy spin. I rejoined in 7th or 8th and proceeded to battle with every known type of Mustang for the next 30 laps. The last few laps was great racing. I was in 4th and the pit crew told me my tires where spent. Ray was chopping of .5 a lap from 4 secs down. On the last lap, thank god for lapped traffic and my superior "blocking skills". I held off or blocked off Ray for a 4th place finish. Nice run podium finishers and you had me if there was another lap Ray.

Pete, I was the agressive driver with the flashing lights. It was early in the race at that point and Mike Waltz was still in sight. I caught you at the sweeping right just before the downhill left (off camber) turn. As I came up on you, I thought you would stay left yielding the line to me. I guess I need to learn how to overtake slower cars because the same thing happened with Bill. Unfortunatley, I tapped Bill at the same spot when he slowed too much online. That really is a tough spot to catch someone. There's room, but it is tight. I need to learn to be more patient.

Now that I think about it. I had 2 bobbles (off track didn't hit anything) and 1 spin (off track didn't hit anything). Those took much more time than me slowing more for a lapped car. Next race, before I start, I will say to myself "patience patience patience".

I thought I had a pretty good handle on my Falcon, and was quite pleased to get a 1:33 in qual. Got away from the line clean and chased Bryce, Ray, and Mark for a couple of laps, survived long enough to get up to maybe 4th(!) before dipping a tire off and spinning around. Once I made the first mistake, they just kept on coming- T1 especially caught me out more than once. Ended up trading with Riley for 9th and 10th a few times. Still a load of fun, the bulk of the Mustangs and Falcons are well-matched, and the Jags, well, they have a nice burled walnut dash anyway :)

Walnut should not be in a race car!!!!! LMAO

Slogging in the walnut express for rental points sure does make for a couple boring races. But I am *so* looking forward to snagging a mid-priced Mustang for Riverside, and then the 5spd Etype for Watkins. Should be worth the crawling. =)
