Road America Grand Prix

I am just not getting a good feel in these cars. My new job has me busy from 7AM to 7PM and coming home tired. I just don't have time for 2 series, so I'm sticking with the CTDP F1-2005 mod for now. Have fun!

Bummer. Game crashed 3 laps from the end while running in second.

A word of advice to you guys, PLEASE check your mirrors and abide by the blue flags. I am having extreme dificulty when lapping two particular individuals, it has happened in 2 different races now. A little situational awareness would be nice. Thanks.

Funny, you think you drove the worst race of you life, and then another one beats it.
I made more mistakes in one lap here than I did the whole race at Mid O.

What a nice race! I was [ushing the whole time and my toes hurt!.. :)

Qualified in Top 10 (7th)...and close to my 1st. pit stop I loose the car and go into the grass spining the car twice...Wrong radiator choice (4)... I kept blowing the engines in practice so I went for this setting, but was too slow on the straight forcing me to boost it to 2, which made me burn more fuel than I wanted to and I had to change my pit strategy with an extra pitstop (3) for a "splash & go"...Finished in Top 10 (10th), but this race I lost 3 places for the wrong rad. and the extra pitstop...

CLOSE CALL!!! With 6 or so laps to go I was in 10 with Aubrey chasing me and right at the kinker there was a slow car and when I got close to it my game froooozee!....WoW! What a close call, this is where Aubrey passed me....Which I'm glad he didn't hit me or loose it...

Chuffed with fifth. Never got into my stride in Qual with all the spins and parked cars and ended up right where I didn't want to be: In the middle of the pack.

Fortunately I had the pace to move past the guys around me fairly quickly and ended up settling in behind Brian Farley. Poor old Brian looked as though he was really struggling with the handling on his car and unfortunately I was stuck behind him because of the monsterous turbulence these cars create. After a good 8/9 laps Brian made a mistake exiting T3 and I slipped through.

I think Pitstop strategy helped me get up to 6th and despite a scare in the first stop (where I had to leap from my chair run across my flat and let my fiancé in!) I settled down and had a good middle stint.

Spent most of the race on my own, hope I wasn't too much of a burden to the leaders.. .you can really tell how bad the aerodynamic effects of these cars can be when you see George squirming around in your rear-view. I know I also had trouble getting past one of the Barrett boys who I followed for 2/3 laps, never getting close enough to pass him

All in all, bloody chuffed with a good points haul.

Really tough race. First three laps were a nightmare for me. That was the first time I really got to experience the wake effects in a big pack of cars in a fast corner. My car was oscillating wildly between oversteer and understeer. I think I was running more wing than just about anybody, and that made it worse. Spun about 3 times and dropped back to 17th.

Second pit stop was right behind Erikson. My stop was finished just as he was about to pass me in the pit lane. Somehow I spun right when I got the power down. Don't know how he avoided me.

Caught Ryan on the last lap, but couldn't stay close enough to try a pass.

Congrats to the podium.

Qualy went better than expected for P3.
The race started off at a frantic pace, I managed to turn some quality laps in the first 8 or so, then when entering T5 I tried smoothing out my exit and drove cautiously thru the grass allowing my speedy teammate to pass me, from there on out it was all about keeping my head down and turning competitive laps. Now its time for Pit #2, my crew was fantastic, 8 second pits, wow, there is a case of samuel adams headed their way, I exited and attempted to make up the ground I had lost but to no avail as the laps were ticking off too fast.

I will take the 3rd place finish even though my teammate had a CTD which I have to thank for my set-up help.

Every driver out there today with the exception of 2 made racing and passing a joy and most importantly un-eventful, but for the two who didn't please look up & listen and you will see there is a blue box in your upper left hand corner of your monitor, please exercise common sense when this is displayed, allowing your friends/competitors/leaders an easy pass only adds to the joy of this great sim, a slight breathe off the gas allows for both to carry on their missions, not hamper a front runners chances at a good street fight.

Good race, congrats.

Nothing exceptional just a great race at r2p! I ran my pace and kept out of trouble. I don't think I was part of the pain in the ass lap traffic. Thanks again SS for posting your set, it was better than what I had going and with a few tweaks it was great. Fun chasing OG for a while and holding off GP. Then at the end Aubrey caught up as I saved fuel incase we had one more lap and I was lucky to hold him off.

My first open wheel race with rf so I didn't really know what to expect. I got some laps in and made little tweaks to the default setup but my setup skills usually aren't all that.

In qual, I spent some time looking for clear air, and on my last one I found it, good enough for second.

In the start I managed to leap ahead of George - I hope I didn't do anything unusual there. For a few laps I was just settling in, and perhaps George wasn't rushing things either. Eventually he challenged me into T3 and I braked slightly too late. A spin dropped me to fourth.

First stop put me in third, ahead of Jeff. Then I had another spin in T3, partly because I was frustrated about some people not moving over for lappers. Back to fourth.

Second stop put me ahead of Jeff, once again. Steve in second was out of touch but then he had his pc mishap.

I'm quite happy with the way my race went... but I have to agree on the issue of some (not many) being stubborn with lappers. It's not so nice to lose four seconds per lap because of that - aero push even when 0.5 seconds behind is a major issue already.

Congrats to George for the win.

I'm not sure if I was a good lapee or not now, I only remember having George and Jeff Stibling behind me during the race. What I will say however, is that the leaders have to remember that these cars throw out a wake slowing you down, and unless you're right on someone's ass they aren't going to jump out of the way just because they see a leading car in their mirror. A few times I looked in my mirrors and saw a leading car but thought to myself "I'll be damned if I'm going to move over for a guy 20 car lengths away"
