NASRL pre-season

Man, wish I had a few more ponies to run with the V8's. Coming in 1st last race really handcuffed my car selection this week. I took a TR4 and was running low 1:09's. The big V8's and Lightweight Jags were turning 5's and 6's. I ran a few laps with John and Barrett and had a ball. I would get them under braking and they would real me in on the straights. I made a white knickle outside pass into the chicane on John and made the pass stick down the front straight. Finished 9th. Will have a much better car selection next week while the jag/trans am cars will be handcuffed at a hp high speed Donington track next week. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Was having a great race running in 6th behind mike. Seemed like he was faster, but I still had tires. So I was wondering if it was go time or not, lost my concentration and missed my brake point and plowed turn 1 and ripped of my front left suspension. Was a learning experience. Next time I will definatly have a stop watch next to my wheel.

Well, for some reason it took me a good 10-15 laps to get my head into racing after the lights went. Not sure why. By then I had passed Michael Kolar and then he had passed me back. I spent the rest of the race looking at Mike's rear bumper. I almost got a run on him a few times but he was able to hold me off. Finally, on the last lap Mike screwed up the chicane and we ended up side by side to the finish line. I am not sure how he out accelerated me but he did for a photo finish.

As usual, it was a joy racing with ya Mike. Looking forward to next week!

I can definately say this was the most fun I've ever had driving alone in a race. I had Garret on my tail for a while, but he sorta disappeared somewhere along the way. I just love these Vintage cars too much, they are the most fun cars to drive I have found yet.

Great race Garret, and congrats on the podium Jason in the other Jag. Next week will be interesting, I read the rules backwards and thought I'd be getting 10 points for 1st. Oops...lets see. Gr.5 Abarth or Jag Mk.II? lol

Fun stuff.

Getting the rear end to kick out a bit on power oversteer is just hilariously fun in the 'Stang. In fact, too much fun, because I overdid it on like lap 3 or 4, and almost buried the car in the wall. hah! Had to let the field pass and fight back through.

Had a close call when Michael dropped a wheel in the grass performed his best drifting impression across the track. :) While me, Jon and Rick were clawing at each other through Parabolica catching up to him. I managed to jam on the brakes just in time to kiss Michael's front fender and send him off into the kitty litter. I didn't breathe for a good 10 seconds.

Thats great, I'm the falcon in the pictures. If you notice I'm side by side with the red mustang in the first pic. I saw the yeller stang hit the dirt so I started braking and got thru clean. Sorry bout the wreck, but this is the first time I made a screen shot!

Sorry I couldn't attend. I definitely was planning on racing with you guys and even got some practice in but my game kept freezing when loading the cars when I would come back in. Will try to attend next week...

Congratulations Tom on the win. You got out there in front and we couldn't catch you. I lost it in the Chicane fairly early in the race and was driving alone in 3rd place most of the time. It was fun passing the lower HP cars, and I must say you were all very courteous and sensible - thanks for that!

I think if we had 2 or 3 laps more in the race, I may have been able to pass you Garret! I was able to catch you during the last three laps, but couldn't get up quickly enough to pass. At the beginning we were running pretty close in time, but I suspect you ate your tires or something because I was steadily catching you at the end. Way to go on a good 2nd place!

Well, I blew my whole 15 points on this race because I will be out of town next weekend for the next race, and can't make it anyway. I am looking forward to the official season though in a couple of weeks. I will have to get some seat time in more of the cars.

I was happy with my top 5 qualifying session and happier still to find myself in 3rd among the high-priced Jags and the Alpha. Jason had clipped the barrier coming through the chicane and let me through (thanks Jason).

He slowly reeled me in in his superior handling Type E and had come to within 2 seconds when I got tasked out to windows in time for the ATI VPU Recover thing to tell me that my video card was not functioning (it was, duh) and ask me if I wanted to send a bug report. How thoughtful. I said no and tasked back into GTR2 to find myself in 8th position. I hope that incident didn't mess you up Jason.

From there I slowly clawed my way back to 5th position and was reeling Jery in but it was too little to late as the race ended.

A very fun race tonight other than that silly bug report task-out fun!

My first "vintage" race and my first race without "auto-clutch" and it was even more fun that i'd anticipated!

Figured the ATA was a safe choice (for me) rental-points-wise -- quick enough to let me keep up with the action without being so quick as to force me to drive beyond my experience.

Got some great advice that helped me tame it's tendancy to go squirrely under braking (thanks guys!).

Qualified poorly, as i expected, and was not at all unhappy to be dead last going into the chicane for the first time.

Then had some great racing.

Found myself behind John for much of the race, who could pull away from me on the straights and refused to make a mistake in Parabolica, where i was sure i could sneak thru if he let me.

Got stupid at about the 20 minute mark and missed my brake points a few times, as i was driving in my mirrors, slamming sideways (luckily) into several walls. Lot's of people went by me at this point, most of them putting me a lap down, and i i'm really trying to forget those two or three minutes of my life, so i'll move on...

After forcing myself to refocus on driving _my_ car, i had some more great racing.
