Scroll down page to watch the video. Skip thru the intro stuff and you'll get to watch the full lap.

I guess Porsche claimed Nissan as cheating using slick tires. So Nissan responded with the proof they didn't. But if you watch the video it's VERY obvious Nissan used street tires -- slicks do NOT howl like that, but street tires do.

Seems to me Porsche are getting a little worried about their profit margins. The GT-R is 5 seconds faster at Nurburgring than the new GT2 and the GT2 actually has better street tires also. Oh that's gotta hurt, no wonder Porsche are being so defensive -- guess they'll have drop their MSRP down about 70K or so. :)

But the Porsche looks better, so they can charge 30k more :-)

I actually got to see a GTR up close and personal @ VIR last month and I wasn't impressed with the looks. It looked "bloated" to me and from what I read, it is actually heavy. Of course I am biased towards Porsche anyway ;) I could add a pic if I knew how.

Still doesn't change the fact that it looks like a fugly inbred baby.

Cars need soul. Not a lazy eye catfish-esque imitation, carbon fibre "bling" nose front fascia. Yuck.

It's amazing how Nissan have gotten nearly two tons of metal to behave that well. I remember seeing a pic of one in a forum somewhere parked beside an NSX. It absolutely dwarfed the NSX, which is not that small a car; the damned thing is huge! Godzilla indeed...

Another interesting comparo, this time from the Isle of Man:

Brian here ya go click me

I love the Porsche as much as the next guy but you cant argue with scoreboard.

Looks are hard to argue also, the Nissan just looks like another Nissan (bland) and the Porsche hasn't really changed in well forever, ill stop there so i don't get shot ;)

I wish Porsche would enter F1 so we could get some interesting conversations in that arena =P because its so Nissan over there these days lol

Doubt Porsche will enter F1, that'll dig into their profit margins -- and given the current economic situation it wouldn't be a smart move. But I wish they would, I might just start watching F1 again if they did.

Looks!! I don't know Porsche tends to remind me of this song ... baby got back

Nissan have made clever use of all of that weight, getting it to plant the tires exactly the way they are supposed to be planted... hence the superb levels of grip all across the board.

But it is pants to drive. The GT2 is at least exciting.
