hey all....i got tired of no stores in my area having gtr evo so i bought it from steam. my question is: where are the files for Evo downloaded to? i have looked in all the simbin and steam files i have and cant find any. i would like to find the files so i can back them up in case of computer failure and find the car templates so i can make custom skins. any help would be great. thx |

Under x:\xxxx\Steam\steamapps\ you have .gcf files of the games you download over steam. Also if u want to backup you go to steam -> my games -> right click on the game -> Backup game files About templates... i have no idea |

ok, i found the .gcf file for the game. but still no templates. and when you back up the files from steam, it puts them in weird formats (three different types: .sim, .sis, .sid) i really dont know what i did when i did the "backup" operation. its seems by the size of these files that all the info is there but i cannot access it. anyone have any thoughts on this. or have an answer where to get the templates or where to put them once you have made one? |

The game files are likely obfuscated and encrypted such that you are not meant to know what they are and what they do, you allow Steam to handle that. The reason there's a backup at all is so that if you reformatted, you could back up those files first and then after you reinstall, you can just reinstall steam and then have it import the games from your backups so you dont have to download them again. |

I think the templates are unlikely to be released for sometime yet. Simbin have sold advertising space in EVO on the cars, so they are unlikely to provide templates enabling us to create liveries and therefore not drive the paid for liveried cars. |
