Sorry to start what will probably turn into a ridiculously-long topic, but I'm curious. What does everyone think about this upcoming election?
If you guys have a favorite, can you elaborate on why? Curious to hear what you all think. |

I'm not American, but I really liked Jesse Ventura's idea. None of the above. The reasons would take far too much space to publish here. |

There are few topics that are ripe to become something more heated then a civil discussion. Religion and Politics lead them all. While you are all free to discuss this topic I would like to preface this thread with a plea for civility and understanding of other's opinions/beliefs. |

Plenty fair enough Tim. I figured this could become a heated topic... but I find it interesting. I live in Indiana and probably don't share the same views at others in the other states or outside the country. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing bush run another term (if it was possible) given that some policies change, and that everyone can agree on a better strategy for a lot of things. I don't feel like bush has done too much wrong, I just feel like we've got no one else to blame... eh hard to debate. He's only one man, and really doesn't hold as much power as you think. Were you suggesting a new system of government Dennis? or just to have different candidates? |

2 liberals, one in conservative clothing. Im going to pretty much leave it at that, i deleted the way to long post i had. That most likely would have just pissed some people off. But i will say politics is just dirty lying bastards saying anything to get elected. Im not just talking about American politics either. And to bring this down to another level and in my best Cartman impersonation "Democrats piss me off!" |

You Americans did a good job electing Bush, we love him here in Europe, on par with Seinfeld :) But Barack...

A system where the peoples interests come before the corporate/banking interests would be preferable. As it stands now, money buys and/or steals votes and every four years your asked to pick between two individuals who are heavily sponsored by the same institutions. Those who are not are usually weeded out in the primaries and independent or alternative party candidates are generally ignored by the media except when being made the butt of bad jokes. When big business spends millions of dollars in support of a candidate, they always want something in return. A government run by corporations is by definition facist and facism inevitably leads to slavery. Things in Canada aren't much different or better. As for the Bush comments, wow. I'll send you some links via PM. Any opinions I have of that man would contain some language best left off the message boards, and I'd hate for him to start secretly and without warrant, reading my emails, bugging my phones and secretly searching my home while I'm away. Or come take me to an offshore prison for the next 10 years to be held and tortured without a lawyer, phonecall, any rights at all and without charges, just because they can. |
